Really likable guy. UF just landed a solid coach. I see 10+ win seasons in their near future. McElwain never was a good fit, always found him a bit strange, and in over his head.
As a current student at MSU, I’ve always said Dan Mullen wouldn’t be the National Championship Coach at State. This was his FIRST coaching job, not his dream job. On top of that, MSU is the only SEC position that didn’t fire its coach meaning it’s a successful program. It was a good move for Mullen and MSU. Anyone who thinks Dan Mullen was going to make MSU any better is mistaken. If you watched his games against Alabama, it was the same game plan every time and it never worked out. State needed a change to compete in the west and Mullen was ready to move on. When was the last time a head coach from State was hired away by a school like UF? The 50’s? This is a compliment to MSU and MSU is only getting better.
He didn't make MSU any better? He is 2nd in wins in MSU history, 8 straight bowls, #1 in 2014 (First time in school history). I get being disappointed but he made MSU relevant.
I can't believe they ever considered hiring Chip Kelly it would have been a Tennessee like Fiasco Kelly might work at UCLA it would not have worked in Gainesville

On Thanksgiving night Mullen says "my wife and I are happy at Miss State and don't plan on going anywhere." He leaves Sunday for Gainesville. Reminds me of several years ago Tommy Tuberville spoke at a news conference saying he wasn't going to Auburn. He was happy at Ole Miss. He left that night going to Auburn Ala to be their coach. I guess I can now put college football coaches in the same category as politicians. LIARS- BIG LIARS

Happy for your hire, but you could have left with a touch more class. She even teed you up to talk about State or the fan base and you skipped it. Spankenstein99 people go to Alabama because of agriculture and the ability to have a life changing experience. I know a lot of people that would like to go to the raw history of Alabama, rather than go to the retirement state of the U.S.
