Nah this was actually good by Dan. He really broke it down real real good and well.

Think about this, we are SO bad that it’s confusing enough to fans and the league that we need people breaking it down in detail. I’ve never seen so much content on just a quarterback being bad, it’s kind of nice cause no one ever talks about the Bears.

This is the draft report on FIelds from the NFL web site - he is exactly what they said he would be and struggles with these since college. - Needs to improve pocket mobility for clean launch points. Below-average feel for edge pressure, running himself into pressure points. Field vision is average in face of the blitz. Missed open blitz beaters in the middle of the field against Indiana. Gradual operation time prevents expedited release. Needs to release ball earlier on anticipatory throws. Needs to improve eye manipulation as a pro. Stagnant eyes invite coverage to the passing party. Forces receivers to slow for deep throws. Pet spin move as runner got him clocked against Clemson.

Dan could teach Justin more in a couple of hours than Getsy can in a full season.

Tim Jenkins cleared this up for me. Getsy has Justin Fields beginning right foot back like Aaron Rodgers, when he has started on his left all his life. It's throwing his timing off.

From Chicago and watched every snap our kid has taken and he just doesn't trust his reads or weapons. He has all the tools but Dan is 100 percent right hes thinking 2 much. When he just plays hes Lamar with a better arm when hes doubting or "thinking" hes JaMarcus Russell

Been a Bears fan my whole life. It’s funny to me how Justin gets endless excuses for missing open WRs in year 3.. yet Trubisky was universally mocked for making the same mistakes with worse weapons and coaches as a rookie.

Chris Simms doubted Justin from the beginning, even before the draft, for these EXACT reasons, and he got so much hate for it last year. He's looking pretty smart now.

he's got wide opened receivers on those intermediate routes. His mind is messing with him into not throwing the football. Sheesh.

It’s called not understanding what you’re looking at he is clearly not the guy

There are two primary keys as a QB, identify the Mike and set protection, second is to identify single high or double high safety on the snap. There is a saying that safeties don’t lie. To Dans point, one second in you see single high, what are my reads on single high, fire. Hardest position in football, but you can simplify it into though two things.

That was pretty much exactly what's up. He's not dropping back, he's stutter stepping and bouncing. His mindset is apprehensive instead of assertive. Orlovsky nailed it.

I don't trust anyone's opinions on NFL QBs anymore. Brock Purdy was completely overlooked by this same media and should have been hyped as a 1st round pick instead of Trey Lance and Fields.

Those 2 clips don't mean nothing. Watch a person like JT O'Sullivan over at the QB school break down Fields. He has a serious problem reading defenses. His other problem is he gets stuck on a route and does not work through his progressions. The second clip you want to put in a good light because he was ready to throw it to the right guy. But what you fail to point out is the right guy happened to be the first guy he looked at. You can watch a 40 minute breakdown of Fields with over 20 broken down plays and the guy just cannot read defenses at a high level or make progressions on his reads.

I think they were on the spot at the end, I feel like fields has a mental/self esteem issue. He has talent, I feel like hes just uncomfortable in the pocket as well as being scared of turning the ball over. And this is coming from a die hard packers fan. Fields has the talent and brains, I feel like its a nervousness or ego problem with turning the ball over.

Poles is using this season to make him or break him. We aint running the Baltimore O again for a reason. Unsustainable. We have two 1st round picks and right now they're both looking good at having a shot at #1. Or package both for the move up to one and get Caleb Williams baby! Poles is making sure Justin and his fans have no excuses when we move on from him.

Fields isn't being himself he's trying to be what his coach wants him to be.

This offense …The Fields-Quinn offense … unlocks the special skill set of Justin Fields. I believe it's the answer. I love my Chicago Bears … and I hate to see the turmoil we’re in … but I think I have found a way out of it. No new players required, no waiting around, we can fix the problem on offense right now. An offense that moves the chains and controls the clock also helps its defense to rest. We would need a QB to spell Justin occasionally, and confuse the defense. The solution is to simplify things for Justin, for everybody. And Luke Getsy is not required, because Justin would decide the outcome of every play for himself, and to be himself. JF is good at two things. Running … and throwing the ball while running. This offense …The Fields-Quinn offense … unlocks the special skill set of Justin Fields. A very simple offense that has amazing power. The defense only ever gets one look, yet it has no idea what’s coming. It has to be ready for a deep pass over the top …. Or a gut punch up the middle … on every single play. Easy to implement, easy to teach, easy for Justin. Where does it fail?

It's also coaching some plays had 2 receivers less then 5 feet apart drawing more db's and safeties, other times they shut of half the field and try to make Justin pass to only one receiver on that side that not cut off. Also there are times the o-line seems to not know what there doing.

As a bucs fan, i think bc the whole league knows that tampa is a blitz happy defense, that he anticipates that he is gonna be running outside the pocket , or maybe he doesn’t know how to read who is gonna blitz and who is gonna drop back. He threw some really good passes when he was comfortable. And the DBs for tampa really aren’t that great tbh. But going back to the blitzing, it seems to me that in passing situations he overthought the blitz and maybe also didn’t trust his initial decisions.

For those who say go back to last years offense and let him run,NO! Keep him in the pocket and let him prove or disprove that he can throw from the pocket. If he cant by the 10th game its time to move on.

This what happens when you pair a young QB with a defensive minded coach who doesn't have a great OC. Fields is literally deer in headlights, bears have ruined yet another one.

For that first clip for whatever reason he simply doesn’t see backside ins. If u watch his tape he constantly either doesn’t see it or turns it down even tho it’s open. In the first 2 games there’s like more then 5 times the backside in is open and the read and he just doesn’t throw it. He also doesn’t seem to be able/willing to throw with anticipation which leads to him not throwing to open guys.

Why isn't he using his legs the way he did last year???? These coaches and coordinators need to stop trying to turn these guys into pocket passers I say it every year with every new batch of dual threat qbs that come into the league stop trying to make these guys something they're not they been playing this way since pop Warner you think your gonna undue that in a year and half start tailoring your offense around them not the other way around time to change it up time for a new style of offense ask the qbs what they wanna run or you can stop drafting these kids

The Young man was thrown to the wolves too early , he's not the only one of the young quarterbacks struggling. Is he the next Lamar that Chicago fans thought he would be ? Nope but at least get him some high caliber players to throw too.

It’s amazing the difference of hype with Justin fields compared to Zach Wilson. If Justin fields was white there would zero hype. The guy has a career QBrec of 5-22.

And for all these reasons Chicago needs to trade him and go with the #1 projected QB in the draft. Fields is not the guy. Caleb Williams COULD POSSIBLY be the guy. I'd take my chances with the possible and not stick with the obviously not

I think there was a time he'd make that throw - and it was before they asked him to shorten his throwing motion (reduce his windup).

Some people in life rise to the level of their own incompetence. It’s possible that he’s just not capable of consistently moving the ball at the pro level. Tebow encountered this phenomenon.

So many people making excuses for Justin Fields and how he's being coached. He's an NFL QB. A lot of this is on him and he's showing right now that he currently isn't a good thrower of the football. Throw the football when you see someone open. If it's an inaccurate throw, then you'll work on your mechanics and fix that. Josh Allen had to do plenty of that early on. If you're not registering that they're open in the first place, that's an even worse problem and makes you wonder whether you can be a starting QB in the NFL.

The guy just doesn't have it... lets be honest. The MVP talk was pure craziness.

That’s why mahomes plays so freely because his coach lets him do what he wants with no repercussions, other QB’s don’t have that luxury and that causes them to play tight and scared

I think there is much more to this. There is a mental stoppage, trying to go with a play style that doesnt suit him. The coaching is a massive part in this. I believe this sunday we will see a more "old style" Justin Fields. Getsy getting canned before the end of the season. Wasted potential in Chicago.

There is obviously more going on behind the scenes in terms of coaching and play calling. How does JF do better with less last season? I believe they're telling him not to run and to become a pocket passer, when that is clearly not playing to any of his strengths. It dosen't add up...

Because Fields is a running back who can throw the ball. He's not a field general QB. People who were honest saw this last year.

On that last example Fields was about to throw it to the Checkdown not down the field. That’s actually worse IMO because that means he progressed to the checkdown before the routes down the field even developed. Like how tf do you get off your routes down the field before they even develop!?
