@@STP43FAN1 Bylaw 11.6.1 The relevant NCAA rule is bylaw 11.6.1, which prohibits “off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season).” The rule was passed in 1994 as a cost-cutting measure designed to promote equity for programs that couldn’t afford to send scouts to other games. Try harder, Sparky.
@@thegamingpigeon3216 (1) no there isn’t, he just didn’t “comply” with the NCAA because he refused to give over his private property (2) even if he has lied to the NCAA that doesn’t prove that he’s lying about the sign stealing now
Ryan Day stole their signs 1st...how desperate is that...Michigan didn't snitch on them, they gave them a taste of their own medicine and beat them at their own game...and Ryan Day still can't win a Championship while standing at 3rd base
Harbaugh has already lied to the NCAA several times. 😂 does anyone really think that a major college football program like Michigan would let a "random" staffer change the play calls like Connor stallions did?
He never actually lied, he didnt recall is exactly what he said and they were asking the price of the meal and wowser, suprise he couldnt remember the exact amount of the burger and the NCAA got pissed.
Here's something that no one has brought up yet. Harbaugh is wearing the Master Headset during every game. He can hear every coach (DC, OC, coach in the sky box, LB coach, etc, and what they say on every play); everything said during the game. "I didn't know anything about it". Lying pile of dog crap.
We’re missing the point. Reading opponents signals that are being broadcast out in the open is not wrong. It’s the whole mythology that we’re “stealing” anything that’s the problem.
@@bunjidogg I think the ncaa should just ask these top notch detectives in this comment section. They sure do seem to have it figured out. All though they’re not part of Michigan or the ncaa. Original inspector gadgets in here.
well michigan is stupid and just mad they got caught oh in this hypothetical situation why then havent dabo or Nick Saben ran off to other teams?? again michigan is stupid and needed a fake national championship to stop their crying
Why are people like @spedoclctr comparing Harbaugh to Pete Carroll? If there was a scandal I forgot, please remind me. If they're talking about Bush, that has nothing to do with the coaching staff. Sure Pete probably knew (his timing for leaving) but he didn't actively participate. This is a case of the coach actively participating. Denying it sure but definitely doing it. Now, one final word about the USC versus UM situation. USC got nailed to the cross. If you want equality, that's what should happen to UM. In fact, in the case of UM the rule-breaking helped them win games. Bush getting a nice car and some cash did not change the outcome of any games. UM definitely deserves more punishment from the NCAA than USC got.
Follow the money.... who paid for the travel, hotel, & ticket expenses (did the coaches absorb those costs?); who authorized the expense reimbursements and who is accountable for the $$ in the program???
They did follow the money. Both Stallion himself and a UM booster funded all of it. No coaches were involved. The booster's link to UM is what got Harbaugh suspended for 3 games at end of the season.
... different articles have reported that Stallions sold a house and I received a lucrative return on his investment. He appears to be a real fanatic who Loves Michigan in an unhealthy way ( 600 page manifesto). They're claiming that he paid for the trips himself from the proceeds of the house sale.
So, Jim, they laminated cheat sheet of opponent’s coach’s signals, that certain members of your staff had on the sidelines against OSU on the road? They didn’t pass one out to you?
@@HyzersGR Talk to anyone who’s ever played the game and ask them if they’ve ever seen such a cheat sheet on their sideline, never mind that the info was gained illegally to include standing on the sideline at CM game. I’d keep your head buried under the sand if I were you. This is embarrassing to your entire state
pretty stupid take hahahahahahahahaah Nick and dabo didnt leave after they won so no its not because we hate him he and michigan are just losers. all that cheating at usc and they are still giving the heisman back to Bush lol good take you guys hahahahahahahaahaha
How did Pete or USC cheat? It was a long time ago and I don't remember. I know Bush took illegal payments but that has ZERO to do with Pete or USC. If I forgot some other scandal, okay remind me. If you can't tell the difference between a coach stealing signs and a player getting paid, lord help you.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Big Ten and NCAA state at the end of the season that Harbaugh was not involved? Let it go already. It's irrelevant. New season.
Interesting that you say Michigan may get a post season ban. Most of the other podcasters say the opposite. Pete Thamel even said he didn’t think they would get a post season ban. I also heard that a CMU coach was the one that hired Stalions to attend the MSU/ CMU game. In fact, that CMU coach who hired him was recently fired. It had nothing to do with Michigan sending him there. Stalions did this on his own time.
😂😂😂 You obviously didn't read the letter. That was never mentioned. Also, the initial draft doesn’t contain all the information that was captured. The final NOA will be 2X worse.
Quit clutching your pearls about overblown - "sign stealing!" 😮 ...Sign stealing is legal and always has been. Connor Stallion's JOB (as an "analyst") was to steal signs. Of course Harbaugh was aware of that. What he DIDN'T KNOW was Stallion was sending his personal friends to record games, or went to one game himself (msu vs cmu). NCAA bylaw 11.6.1 prohibits "In-person scouting", and that is what they got Stallion on. However, it is still only a level 3 violation, the least serious type of infraction (ohio state has 16 such level 3 violations in the last 2 years under Ryan Day. No one cares. Not even Wolverine fans). The other violation, contacting recruits during "non-contact days" is also a level 3 violation. Then Sherone Moore "broke a rule" by deleting 50+ texts from Connor Stallions the day news of him broke. When asked, Sherone Moore also retrieved the messages, gave them to NCAA, and their report found nothing damaging at all in them. "They" are still saying he broke the rule anyway. LB coach Chris Partridge was fired by UM for talking to the media about the investigation - right after the AD specifically told all coaches not to comment publicly until the investigation was done. Some Columbus talk show started the rumor they fired him for deleting info on his computer. When questioned, Harbaugh reportedly answered all questions with "I don't recall." The NCAA never said he lied. "They" instead deemed it "gave misleading answers." - a level 2 violation Mind you, UM grad, Jim Stapleton is looking increasingly suspicious in "targeting" UM here - and the one leaking these stories. He became head of the NCAA committee of infractions last year. Not only has he been the one heading this specific investigation, he's been PUBLICLY FEUDING with Harbaugh for 20 years, as minority owner of Minnesota Vikings sabotaged Harbaugh from getting a position, and also openly campaigned against Harbaugh coming to UM, in favor of his personal friend, Ron English. Years before that, he had his UM sideline pass revoked, when there was evidence he was attempting to sabotage UM coach Rich Rodriguez to try and get him fired. He has also been linked to the PI that was hired in the first place to follow Harbaugh and all the coaches that started this whole mess. Now if he had ALL the resources he needed from NCAA to investigate, why would he need to go outside that and hire a PI?? 🤔 Seems obvious to me what's happening.
This is true. Every comment is absolutely correct. You summarized this very correctly. A lot of Rival fans and reporters and some podcasters just want to exaggerate stuff to get clicks or to justify why they lost to Michigan. Some of the rival fans also don’t know what they are talking about so they invent conspiracy theories. Like ColinCowherd said… “ This is a Witch Hunt”.
Sign stealing is legal in college football…the MEANS by which the guy was doing it is illegal and it is definitely reasonable to expect that the HC thought it was coming through legit avenues. Teams have staffers that steal signs using legal techniques
The Drumpf of the NCAA - deny, deny after you've packed your bags and put Ann Arbor in your rear view mirror. Good to see the Cheatin' Pats referenced, too,
I Believe Jim. Dan, where is it reported that the investigation concluded Conner Stallions was relaying information to the coaching staff? If you are assuming this is what happened, then you should inform your audience of that or site the report that you received your information on. You're a very thorough journalist...you know what I'm saying. Conner was weird, and, from most accounts, was acting on his own behalf. Respect the Platform. Benton.
Many years ago while serving in the Navy some medical waste washed up ashore in NC that was traced back to a sister ship we were sailing with. Turns out some E3 instead of doing what he was supposed to do, threw the bags overboard in the middle of the night. The Captain was later relieved of his command for this incident that he knew nothing about. Harbaugh is accountable and whether he knew or not is irrelevant. But he will never suffer any consequences after moving on to the NFL...which I suspect he is well aware.
According to NCAA guidelines, everything that happens in the program the head coach is responsible for. The NCAA could also issue a show cause against Jim Harbaugh that is supposed to transfer to the NFL similar to the Jim Tressel situation
He's the all-knowing, ever-present, Who's got it better than us screaming Leader....and didn't know anything? He's either NOT the great coach he has been portrayed to be, or he's a liar.
Yeah Dan, real easy answer. He (Jim Harbaugh), or other high-level coaches, may or may not have asked Connor where he's getting his information. We don't know that because that information hasn't been disseminated to us in the public. But, don't you think, more than likely, that Connor's answer to that question would be, hey coaches I figured out the other team's signals by breaking down copies of game film. He's going to lie and mislead the coaching staff to believe he's obtaining his information by legal means, within the NCAA rules. Anyone with any level of common sense and critical thinking skills can come to that determination.
um spent tens of thousands of $$$$$$$ traveling to games, paying for tickets, filming formations and signs, whose budget was that coming from. A 1 or 2 year bowl ban doesn’t do it. Vacate any wins during the cheating, PLUS a 2 year bowl ban.
He was aware. And now recruiting violations. Imagine that. A coach finally wins, then he ducks out of town. Then we find out much of his recent success was due to cheating. Familiar story. And another situation where kids are punished and the offending coach gets off without a slap on the hand. Then his comments. What a loser.
why would you take a liar at his word? that makes no sense dan. he’s a pathological liar. he’s proven that multiple times & the ncaa has called him a liar. so whatever harbaugh says i will automatically assume the opposite is true
Just because you have the answers to the test doesn't mean you aced the test. Michigan people actually think they won a national championship. Pathetic! Nick Saben and Dabo Swiney didn't have to tuck tail and run after they wont a national championship? Michigan and their fans are sad
The NCAA already proved Harbaugh didn’t do anything wrong. Read the document. As much as I hate to admit it. I don’t think the coaches knew either. Connor was an overzealous go getter that screwed up. Period.
No friggin way this guy footed his own bill, took a chance knowing it would cost him his job.. He would have been absent from the facility for days and no one would have noticed? Really? Even through maize glasses you can't possibly believe he was on his own. Let's come back to this thing called reality. This dude was instructed where to go and what to do. He was the most expendable so he got the task.
@@theknowitall4090 guy disappears from the facility during the week without any knowledge from his bosses, shows up with incredibly detailed and accurate info and the coaching staff listens to him during games without question or hesitation and none of them ever ask him what he's doing during the week. sounds plausible!
@@theknowitall4090 I think you might want to get familiar with Connors manifesto if you dont think he was capable of doing this on his own. Its 500 pages of exactly this type of stuff.
I also assumed teams would change signals or make minor adjustments…the players still have to go out execute and play - I think he def knew but I don’t think it’s a huge deal
Fun fact: ohio state has been recording UM sidelines and stealing signs since 2019. UM is 3-0 vs them since they found out - flipping play signals on them on purpose.
Dan, your Ohio-ness is showing just a bit. You said JH didn't know what his "coordinators" were, it was one lower level full time staffer and a bunch of interns. Don't misrepresent the facts. If the NCAA had anything substantial, it would've been leaked by now. If you were attempting to be a journalist, you'd be asking where these leaks are coming from and why they all go to the same guy. This is all going to conclude with some wrist slap finger wag from the NCAA, the world's most toothless athletic association. By the way after all this came out, Michigan dismantled it's opponents including Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama and Washington.
The information collected was still there after the operation was outed. They could have very well still used it once Connor was gone. Vegas sure wants some answers.
There’s video of Stalions telling Jesse Minter the play during the 2022 OSU game and then all the players around them immediately put their hands in the air to signal pass. Why is this low level staffer next to the DC during the Game? It makes no sense
The other coaches that are mentioned in the draft NOA because of these stupid reasons…. Helping a player get verified on instagram, donating $100 to a player’s father charity, and sending a text message to a high school sophmore. Really? But of course it’s okay to give player’s Lamborghinis, or give hundreds of thousand dollars to a recruit while they are in high school even. Maybe you all should listen to Colin Cowherd’s logical thoughts that is posted on X. I can’t wait to listen to what Connor Stalions will say when he finally speaks on Netflix at the end of August.
You can't be serious, the cynicism of sports talk has no bounds. They proved without doubt who they were, they ran the rumor and suspension gauntlet and won. Accusation and speculation is not evidence. Dedication and hard work is the only proof needed. BET!
Part of stallions job was to detect tendencies/steal signs. That’s legal. The rule over in person scouting was put in place in the 90s due to budgeting concerns, not filming signals. Stallions was building himself as a guru thru exploiting this grey area. He was funded thru a rogue booster and had his friends go to games and iPhone sidelines. There is literally 0 evidence anyone other than stallions on the staff knew he was going to these lengths. The ncaa did not find what they wanted thru a seriously unethical investigation and have leaked context-less info to project guilt on Harbaugh to save face in the public eye. That’s why he’s remained adamant that he is not guilty. DP’s take is smugly ill-informed. Also anybody that truly thinks Michigan or any team knowing their opponents signs is this egregious act of cheating is just revealing they’ve never been around a competent football program on any level
Who cares. I watched that team run it down every ones throat and YES everyone on the planet knew they were going to run and no one could stop it Period. I also watched the D line destroy teams like Alabama. Milroe even said he felt like he was running for his life and had never seen anything like it. DO some research.
Michigan is the biggest frauds ever. Clear and obvious they didn’t get over the top until they started doing all this. Strip them of the title and ban them from postseason for multiple years.
