Dan, I just want to add the following to this excellent interview. If society would accept people for who they are, there would be so many fewer people hurt. When gay people who are not accepted by society and their family get married in order to be accepted, they get a wife, have children and eventually end up in a worst position because not only do they continue to be unhappy but they also make a woman's life very unhappy (the wife), her family and the children they had together as well. It was my case. Multiply this by thousands and imagine how many individual's lives are destroyed because of this. If society would just learn to love everyone for who they are, none of this would happen. After 23 years of marriage to a very nice woman and having a teenage kid at the time, I got divorced because I could not resist my NATURAL feelings or attraction towards men. After years and years of trying to push back my feelings, I finally revolted and had an affair with a man. This is when I realized how unhappy I was in my marriage. After 23 years we broke up. My wife was hurt in the process. My son was very hurt. I was hurt and our families on both sides were hurt. All this suffering could have been avoided if I would not have felt rejected by society and by my family. Please, Dan, continue to speak your heart and mind about this. We need people like you. Young people need people such as yourself to help them understand that they are normal. We are born this way and nothing can change us. I met a companion 2 months after my separation and we have been together for 17 years. 17 years of happiness and LOVE. I am now 72 years old and I can say that I should never have been married. Some good things came out of my marriage of course. I had a son. But my son has to live now telling his girlfriends and their families that his dad is gay. I know that this is not easy for him as not all families accept this. So much suffering, so much pain, so many years lost trying to be happy. Convincing yourself you are happy when you are not. Well, I am extremely happy now Dan with my partner who was also married with 3 kids and is separated (he was separated when I met him 17 years ago on Feb 14th - Valentine's day). We often talk, even today, about how unhappy we were before trying to convince ourselves we were happy. There is no feeling greater than LOVE - Real LOVE - PURE LOVE. And it doesn't matter if that love is between a man and a woman or two individuals of the same sex. Everyone has the right to be who they are, the right to love who they want and who they chose to love. I feel guilty because I made so many people suffer because I was "forced" by society to get married. Should I feel guilty? Or should society feel guilty? I am very sorry to hear about your divorce, Dan. But so happy that like me you will continue to have a healthy relationship with your ex-wife. It is extremely important for both of you and the children. Asia will find love again and so will you. But keep LOVE alive between you and Asia. A different kind of LOVE but still LOVE. LOVE in everything you do, everything you say, in every decision you make. Because when you do things out of LOVE you can't go wrong. And in closing, let me tell you this: "Never doubt the existence of GOD, Dan. NEVER. You may doubt religion and the people trying to convince and brainwash us about what they think we should do with our lives. But don't doubt GOD. HE is the one giving you the strength to do the good you are doing right now. To save the lives you are saving. HE is using you to do HIS will. I hope you come to Vancouver, Canada one day with "LOVELOUD" so that we can go and see you. If not we will go to Utah when we have the opportunity to do so. And in response to those who say that you are making more people gay, let me say that no one makes another person gay. We are born this way. Just as no one can make a gay individual turn heterosexual. It's not in them. We are what we are and as long as we LOVE and don't hurt anyone we should be able to live our lives without the fear of being rejected. And to be honest, real honest....................we simply ignore those who don't accept us. At least we know that the ones who do accept us, do so because they realize that, apart from having a different sexual orientation, we are just like the rest of society. We are good people, we have a very happy and normal life, we help people but most of all WE ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY IN LOVE and that is the bottom line for us. We love you, Dan! You are an extraordinary person and that's why God has chosen YOU to do what you are doing. Don't ever doubt it my friend. You are blessed and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I don’t think the Church will ever change it’s doctrine on the matter. But, I would have NO PROBLEM with the State making gay marriage legal here in Utah. Make it a civil thing where religions don’t have to go along with it if they don’t want to. I’m fine with that. At least people will be able to love whom they want to love and marry whom they want to marry.
Dan Reynolds is very well-spoken and speaks with wisdom. He probably has a very high IQ which is centered in music and creativity not to mention having a gift of an angelic singing voice and god-like beauty. I don't know, I think when God sprinkles all talents, beauty, and intelligence on earth Sam Reynalds catch most of them.

I agree that you shouldn’t be looked down upon or loved any less because of who you love but I don’t believe in changing religions for that. I believe that these people should have all the same rights I have but I don’t have to believe that it’s morally right. I’ll still love you the same but I shouldn’t be forced to change my values. And we are all flawed in our own way so who am I to judge theses folks for what their going through. But remember, there’s a difference between acceptance and support, I accept you but I don’t have to support this specific trait (I can still support you as a person). Any human being with a heart would feel pained by the loss of life and as a fellow teenager I understand what the pain feels like in my own way. I have been married for 27 years now and not all of those years were "wonderful" but I thank God my beautiful wife and I stuck together throughout those difficult times. Our marriage is so much stronger now because of the work we put in order to make it happen. I will not comment on Dan's personal affairs beyond to say that Dan seems to me to be more passionate about the LGBTQ issues than how he feels about his marriage, family and the effect of divorce on his children. My parents divorced when I was 17 yrs old and my sister was 12 yrs old so I have a personal experience and a strong oppinion on the negative concequences of the breakdown of the family in our community. I wish Dan and the Imagen Dragons band members felt as strong about preserving the institution of marriage and of the family as they feel towards the LGBTQ. community and their issues.

You did that as a preface to criticising Dan Reynolds for getting divorced, which is a) not the point of this video or his documentary or concert, and b) none of your actual business. Would it be OK if I shared a personal story then called you immoral? No. So why is it OK for you to do it to him? He is a person, not just a celebrity. You don't know his life.

I already stated that I do not know Dan personally or what lead to his marriage breakdown (though I stand by my comments on his "eight wonderful years") but even if I did know him personally, my comments would not change. No success in life can compensate the failure in the home. Soon after this interview my oldest daughter and I attended the Imagen Dragons' concert in Brisbane (Australia) and Dan spent a good time of it preaching to us about acceptance, equality and the many injustices "suffered" by the LGBTQ community (something I can see he feels very passionate about). As one who has seen and suffered the result of his parents' marriage breakdown I wish they (Dan and his band) felt as strong towards the sanctity of marriage and of family as they do towards the LGBTQ community. Sadly, it is you (and at least the three others who liked your comments) the ones who are heartless towards the children of divorced parents and horrible dismissive (and judgemental) here. Ricardo Garcia Ricardo Garcia you are really throwing yourself in the victim-role here... YOU are the one judging Dan on a decision between him and his wife that you know NOTHING of. Just because you were upset by your parent’s divorce doesn’t mean noone with children should get a divorce. Dan loves his daughters very much that is shown by multiple videos and tweets about them. Sometimes it does the children more harm to see their parents give each other the cold shoulder or fight all the time or simply not love eachother anymore, as long as we don’t know the details about the divorce we simply cannot judge this. The reason Dan is so passionate about the LGBT-movement is shown in other videos or speeches of him, he explains it perfectly. Also, it is obvious that he will talk about public issues more than his private issues so unless you know him you simply cannot say what he has and what he hasn’t done to save his marriage. I also don’t think you can compare your situation with Dan and Aja’s. As for the rest of your comment... I think you come across very pathetic. You are calling people heartless for calling you out on making assumptions. Heartless, as if they have no heart for not picking your side or sympathizing with you because you had a tough time when you were young. You generalize people for disagreeing with you. At point 16.30 on this video "some people say how is he gonna feel when he gets to Heaven and God tells him he's made more kids gay". Apart from a ridiculous question to begin with, because no one straight can be made gay any more than someone gay can be made straight. However, my parallel question is to those people "how are they gonna feel when they get to Heaven and Jesus asks them why they misused his good name to cause so many kids to kill themselves" Secondly: why did you replace or overshadow love with hatefulness?
