For anyone wanting further information about Dan's plans, take a look at Escape to rural France. He's still doing work at La Lande, just moving into his Grandads house for a while as its empty. La Lande was never meant to be a permanent base. Thank goodness he's still going to be part of the La lande family😍

From the bottom of my heart thank you for creating and allowing all of us to be part of such beauty. I have been so down the last couple of days. In 2018 my first born son left this life to the next and some days I just can't do it but today watching this vlog, if you were here, you could hear me laughing out loud. That is the gift you have given me! "I think what it means darling is that we already have a hedgehog." said Stephanie to Phillip. Oh my such fun! What would the chateau do you without you Phillip learning all the things you do about it so the billard table can stay as it should. Stephanie someday I shall meet you in person and give you a big hug for your gifts to me, getting through such hard times. For now I give you all my gratitude from here. Blessings everyone.

Stephanie, I am so amazed by the amount of knowledge you have had to learn, understand and remember in everything to do with building, planning, guest, parties, planting, gardening, animals, woods, lake and the upkeep (including the govt agencies you must work with).... organizing people to each task, film, edit and make a videos daily. And you do it looking feminine, beautiful and have an ability to sit down and enjoy a meal with guest, friends and family, complementing everyone and making your chosen life appear so romantic and beautiful.. Oh my gosh the shot of the fountain completely surrounded by lavender is it for me. You guys should harvest some of the lavender and put some around the chateau or dry them and put them in little sachets in each room. That would be lovely.

Instead of stressing about excess produce, freeze them to use in the winter. There are several ways and, if I am not mistaken, you have the freezer room now. No? Chopped onions, chopped potatoes, chopped courgettes. Many like to pickle veggies too. When you get too many tomatoes, turn them into tomato sauce and store them in air tight jars. It will save a lot of money during the winter I think

This year, just a year after planting them, my vine is huge and heavy with grapes, my Kiwi is massive and loves where it is and seems to have lots of fruit buds on it and my blackberry is frankly scary NOT that the birds have left any fruit ! Between the grapes, the blackberries and the strawberries I have the best fed birds in Dordogne !

Great to finally see a sponsor that aligns with your actual lifestyle. As a fellow RU-vidr I understand the unpredictability of RU-vid income and I'm delighted that you are able to subsidise with something more stable (and wouldn't judge any sponsorships you chose to take in future with the expected costs of the heating). I've seen some RU-vidrs put a little icon in the corner of their screen throughout the duration of a sponsored ad to make it easier for people to skip through if they don't want to watch. Might be useful? Also, on the hedgehog. I had one wander through my much smaller urban garden last year. Google told me they may come out during the day when they are pregnant or have babies so as to stretch their legs and have a little break. I agree the scratching needs seen to, but have we checked to see if Hook is female? 😬 I think it's important to consider the possibility of hedgehog babies (!!!)...for science, of course....

Loved this vlog, it is full of summer cheer and lots of goings on in ‘A typical day in the life’ at the Chateau! The billiard table will complete the new room and provide some great winter entertainment I’m sure - perhaps even a billiard unveiling celebration party? Oh it’ll be sad not to see Dan around all the time but I know he has lots of his own plans ahead, so that’s great for him. Stephanie, what about peaches and apricots grown on your new structure, with more eating apples. All of these can VERY easily be bottled for the Winter, which is SO satisfying. Your weather, I'm sure, would support soft fruits. Happy days.

Dan leaving to live at his grandparents house will mean 3 places he will have projects at instead of just two. Little Hook the Hedgehog will be great for the second book written about La Lande. I bought the first one and it is a fun book for all ages. Try oven or pan fried zucchini. I love to pan fry with onions in butter or a light dusting of seasoned flour (gluten free for my house) with garlic and onion powder and a herb to go with the main course oregano for italian, cumin for Mexican, ginger for Asian, curry for Indian and so on. Chow chow is something to make from the garden at the end of the growing season. You should sit down with Kirsty and plan what items will be planted for next season according to what you use and add in one or two new things so you can find recipes to include the new things. Grapes would be nice to grow with the pergola and make your own grape juice and raisins. Didn't you find some bilered legs up in the attic? Might see if the restorer would like to have them to help on other projects they have and that way they will be used and loved again.

Stephanie consulted her patrons about sponsorship and the response was overwhelmingly that she should do them as they are now so common on RU-vid and the money is needed for the heating which is predicted to cost 300 000 euros!! Im not keen myself but accept that this is how RU-vid works. Stephanie has held out for a long time.

Just caught up properly. Gosh, so much going on! It's lovely to see you helping the hedgehog! excitement of hearing about recording for new series of Chateau DIY on British TV, Amaury's hard work, Ruby, Billiards restoration and beautiful flowers! I'd never heard of NordVPN, that was useful. So many gardening and cooking ideas and the little chicks! And the finale with Dan the Man. It's been amazing see how you have all worked on the garden together through Lockdown and since. And it'll be 'see ya t'morrow' again I'm sure. All the best to the lovely Chateau folk. It will be sad for you not seeing Dan every bit off the day at the chateau but if you follow Dan on his own vlog you will see him when ever he vlog's and he probably won't his own space and some me time too.The peachicks are growing beautifully, lovely video and lovely people all together in my favourite place Llanda.

@@maryjoan4128 Dan and Annalise are currently working on the homestead building but they separated as a couple 9 plus months ago. They are raising the children together. Their youngest son goes to school in the fall, so I hope Dan will stay very close to them for the rest of the summer. 😘

When you have the climbing kiwi plants in i do hope you have the golden kiwi as well as the green, the golden kiwi is less acidic and kinder to people who suffer with tummy issues.

Ask the vet if he can have some Capstar in his food. (Amazon) It kills all fleas in 30 minutes. If it is fleas making him itch and not mange that is. It is easy to deflea a wild critter this way. I give it to the raccoons. Cuteness overload. I remember when I first started watching you had a hedgehog in the Chateau hall near the kitchen/laundry area. I always look at the spot where the lake was and can't wait for you all to have it back. Any idea when you all will get it back? It is always exciting to see your progress Stephanie. Happy early birthday to you. I too am an August baby, only child, female and a singer! 70 years soon. All my family is gone so I adore watching your filming with your friends and family. You do a good job. I know it takes a lot of work but it really blesses us.
