Its Dan Tyminski playing from a pure soul and he has 12 thousand subscribers and 4 comments here. Meanwhile videos of people putting on make up have millions of hits. Some things in this world are so very wrong.
RU-vid is a business, a lot of the high sub channels make it a full time business. I suspect playing music is much more important to Dan than YT. Bluegrass is an offshoot of mainstream music, it's listeners much more refined and subtle. It is simple music, but very hard to do well. The comments here explain it better than I can.
Hi dan I'm here in the morning hours in Germany we got lots of rain Ernst an cleaning up my van and caravan listening to your song in repeat on RU-vid taking mandolin and Banjo
I always thought and still do think Doc Watson was the greatest flat picker and gentleman of our time. Thank you for acknowledging him and playing in his style. I don’t think enough younger folks realize what an inspiration he was to so many. Again Thank You!
Live just down the road from Tom and Laura’s resting places. The truth of it is an intriguing story. Everyone has their own theory of what truly happened including me. Tom supposedly wrote this himself while in jail waiting to hang according to some accounts. New York papers covered the story. Wonderful rendition of the song by Dan and paying tribute to the one and only Doc. Enjoyed it! Thanks
Dan's approach to music somehow reminds me of "bringing it all back home". He takes a traditional song, plays it, sings it, gives it full justice. It's all we want.
Man I’m glad your making videos. When I was a baby I loved Man of constant sorrow. And now I’m 12 and learning to pick the guitar. If it wasn’t for you I would not be where I am right now. You formed my childhood. Thank You.
Hi Dan. Y’know, it’s a whacky world we live in. You are a legitimate genius on that guitar. I’ve been a musician my whole life, and I just want to say that your playing has brought me a lot of enjoyment and inspiration. I hope all is well. Sending you love and light.
Woo hoo! Great to land this, Been listening to your virtuosity and Doc Watson's since the 90's. Saw you live in Toronto way back. This song was the one that turned me on to Doc. Been trying to play Deep River Blues since then. Cheers!
Talk Allison into coming back to Louisville. I saw the show with you guys opening for Willie Nelson. Best show I've ever seen! Would love to hear Southern Gothic live in an arena!
Dude. You get better and better every year. Seriously, never stop. Also, I love that number about Bill butler and Bonita. Just started a new life on land away from ships, that song always gets to me.
This is why I never got upset my kids listening to Death Metal or the like. A lot of Bluegrass is dark. Listen to little Sadie/Cocaine blues or even Lester Flatts”Bluebirds are singing for me” All the girl dies.
Dan, what is your preferred capo? Been playing for, well, over 40 years now, but I've never really felt comfortable using one much because of the lack of tightness (causing fret noise, etc.). I noticed in some of your performances a very slim one, ever so slightly slanted toward the fret on the bass strings. Was hoping you could shed some light on the matter. Thank you.
Dan ought to come visit Statesville, NC where Tom Dula was tried, convicted and hanged for killing Laura Foster. Also, the Dillards' "Dooley" is not a different version of this song, it's a totally different song, and a good one. Love this video though. That is some fine pickin! Dan is the man.
I just discovered Dan Tyminski after making a playlist of 'constant sorrow' clips, never in the various channel YT clips is the name Dan Tyminski given as lead singer, shameful
Dan, ya got yer Dooleys mixed up. Tom is a Carolina murder ballad. The Dillards' Dooley is an Ozarks moonshiner. Rodney Dillard and Mitch Jayne wrote that one..
I would LOVE to see you do a reaction video of Home Free’s cover of “Man Of Constant Sorrow”. I’ve loved that song for so long. And it’s what made me fall in love with Home Free ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ew_bfFvros.html
