Dan Wesson 1911 is a high quality firearm. I know Kimber has gotten some bad reviews but I own two and have been very reliable and accurate no issues whatsoever. Congrats on your purchase that's a fine 1911
I had same problem with Kimber 3". I bought DW Bobtail in 07. My favorite 1911 by far. Have over a dozen of them. I replaced Kimber with Fusion Bantam R. Runs flawlessly. As a side note, Bob Serva that now owns Fusion Firearms used to own Dan Wesson and sold it to CZ. He built many of the first ones himself. As you said, lots of Ed Brown parts.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Dan Wesson CBOB and I'm really looking forward to it. As for your Kimber, I have an Ultra Carry II and mine is rock solid dependable. I only use Wilson mags and I replace the recoil spring assembly every 500-700 rounds. Never had a problem with it.
Great review! I had the same impression of Kimber: to make a 1,500-round 2017-era TLE/RL II work, had to replace the extractor with a Wilson Combat one. There was also that time the rear sight split in half and flew in my face, but Kimber replaced the whole slide with new. I mean, seriously. I think they need to hire more execs who golf even more.
What year is yours? I was thinking about doing the same but read Dan Wesson changed the profile of their bobtail slightly in 2018 and the Ed Brown would no longer fit properly(It would be to small) Thanks.
@@springerspringer6740 Would have to check on year but would guess pre-2018. After installing the Ed Brown MSH, it needed to get filed down a bit to sit flush with the frame. Hope this info helps...stay safe out there!!!
@@springerspringer6740 Received confirmation from CZ-USA (DW) and it was made in 2017. I ordered the Ed Brown snakeskin mainspring housing from Brownells. Easy install and just had gunsmith flush fit with frame.
How's your experience with the gun been since this video? What kind of ammo do you use and recommend? I'm about to purchase this same gun and am seeking opinions from current owners. Great video and subbed!
Good video Sir, congrats on your purchase! If we were to pick up another Dan Wesson 1911 this Model would be it. Do you still have your Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special? If so, it would be cool to see another update video on it! Have a great day and Merry Christmas! - Beretta Sr. 👍😁👮🏻♂️🇺🇸
BERETTA9mmUSA unfortunately I sold it 🙁to fund other stuff but have thinking of buying it again 😂les Baer makes a great 1911 . Thanks and merry Christmas to you guys 😁

@@tberkoff He probably got it because that's what it's regularly called by Dan Wesson fans and many others in the 1911 community. Not sure how you missed that. But then, if you only looked at advertisements, you probably would never know that, nor know where he got it. If it helps understand, it's kinda like most people don't call Dan Wesson's parent company "Ceska Zbrojovka". They call it "CZ" instead. Nor do they call their 9mm pistols a Ceska Zbrojovka 75 - they call them a CZ 75. Simple, really.
@@dickeymoore3662 I got lucky. Was last one in all The stores. Went to buy something else and ended up getting that and putting other one on layaway. Don’t think there’s many floating around right?
I put $500 down on this gun at turner’s in San Bernardino last week. Best 1911 I ever held. The balance, fit, quality, trigger, and that SLIDE...feels like it’s on ball bearings it’s so smooth and absolutely no play whatsoever. The gun in your hand feels like a solid bar of balanced heavy steel, no rattles, or movement. You can feel the quality and attention to detail in this firearm. They only had this and a $2900 ED Brown in the whole civilian gun counters. I’m paying $1699.00. I know they’re price gouging in this COVID-19 era but you better get what you can while you can before November. Besides, I never would have bought a semi custom 1911 if not for this pandemic. After holding this Classic Bobtail, I’ll probably never go back to under $2000 1911’s again. I guess you get what you pay for. I have seen the light!
What the hell is wrong with Kimber selling $1,200 dollar 1911’s that absolutely suck. They look nice but reliability is piss poor. At 1200 that is a decent profit margin for mass produced guns.
The actual name is the Dan Wesson Commander Classic. The name is right on the left side of the slide. Not sure where you got CBOB -- maybe a combination of Classic and Vbob. danwessonfirearms.com/product/commander-classic-bobtail/
