I’m glad you are restoring this historically important CJ7. My 1985 CJ7 has the wide axel Dana 30 front with original Jeep manual locking hubs. Last fall I bought new white wagon wheels, stainless center caps, and stainless lugs. Before I mounted all that I painted my hubs black then went in and painted the tiny recessed 2x and 4x white. Then replaced the center Jeep 4x decal. I like how it came out. Close to original.
couple of issues there, don't use knurled ball joints unless it's a last resort. on cj dana 30 the bottom ball joint is done up to 85 ft/lb first and then the preload is set using the split tapered insert torqued to 50 ft'lb then the top nut is done up to 100 ft'lb. you also need to check the supplied nuts as many ball joints are supplied with an incorrect top nut that doesn't have a base wide enough for a knuckle with preload adjustment.
Did you hear about the guy who was born with no eyelids? The Doctors used the guys foreskin to make them, but after that he was always a little bit cockeyed.
