Of all her videos this ranks as one of the best. DANA was filmed arriving in Spain to promote her victorious Eurovision Song Contest entry. This footage shows her inside an airport, possibly Madrid, singing All Kinds of Everything as she makes her way with her luggage up a crowded escalator to the check-in. It's 2240 in the evening so time to get booked into the airport hotel.
Why was DANA carrying her suitcase? This was the year Bernard D. Sadow invented a four-wheeled suitcase, but his idea never took off because it was pulled along horizontally. Seventeen years later a pilot, Robert Plath, did what now seems obvious and made the first upright version. One idea that did take off back then was the Boeing 747. It entered service on 22 January 1970, on Pan Am's New York--London route. Did a jumbo jet take DANA to sunny Spain? She was there to appear on national TV and the Spanish sensation, Julio Iglesias, whom she beat in Eurovision, introduced her (FoD#19). Her trip was a success and the Lindsay/Smith ballad reached #12 in their chart.
