they should make drugs illegal, that way we could solve the addiction problem. Oh wait, they already are? and people are getting them and using them any way? but don't addicts know drugs are illegal?
@@67Spectre With insight into the criminal mind and a laser like focus on problem solving, you my friend have just got my vote. Damn genius! I'm calling Lie-a-watha and Creepy Joe to give them your idea.
For fans, here is the entire quote around that quote. "Well, in the first place an armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life. For me, politeness is a sine qua non of civilization. That's a personal evaluation only. But gun-fighting has a strong biological use. We do not have enough things that kill off the weak and the stupid these days. But to stay alive as an armed citizen, a man has to be either quick with his wits or with his hands, preferably both. It's a good thing. --Robert A. Heinlein 1942 _Beyond This Horizon_ Pg 217-218
And I think you’ve forgotten the shit storm Obama inherited from Bush. Obama was amazing for the economy. Over the past 50 years Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama had the most economic growth of all the presidents from that era. Things are starting to trend down for this orange haired buffoon you call the president. Farmers are turning on him in droves. Gonna be a one termer.
I'm wondering where you got that statistic from? I just checked 4 different sources and they suggested all crime (with the exception of sexual assault, which has sadly been increasing, but all other types of crime) has been decreasing each year in Australia since 1990s.
Hi@john Mullholand , Individuals who own gun in Australia has dropped 23% per capita, but the people who do own guns now own more guns. Although there are always going to be unregistered guns that are unaccounted for.
The safest country in the world is Switzerland. It is also most armed. The structure of the Swiss militia system stipulates that the soldiers must keep their SIG SG 550 assault rifle(rate of fire 700 rounds per min) equipment at home. YES AT HOME. About two-thirds of young Swiss men are found suitable for service.
+Shane Walker The older men have "surplus" weapons but those active will have the current rifle. They have mandatory training and have their first engagement supplies on hand (that way they are b prepared if something does happen). In any event his premise is essentially correct - the majority of all houses are armed and so a massive deterrent.
You are out of date. Swiss authorities found that too many of their soldiers were using their guns to committ suicide on the weekends. they stopped the tradition of allowing their soldiers to take their guns home. subsequently the suicide rate has dropped dramatically. Check the findings of your own Rand Corporation.
Steven Tuck that’s a myth. U cannot suggest ma n pa with a gun will risk spending the rest of their lives in prison for shooting a cop or military personnel. Even the nazi nutjobs out there won’t do that. If rate of gun violence deaths to be based solely on its socioeconomic status of a country, the U.S. should be seeing only 0.46 deaths per 100,000 people. (That is comparable to the rate in Canada, where the statistic is 0.47 deaths per 100,000.). Instead, the actual U.S. rate of 4.43 deaths per 100,000 is almost 10 times as high
I was an armed security guard for 4 years before I changed careers. I remember 1 incident very clearly, where some guy hyped up on pcp started going off in the store. I know what pcp does to people so physically apprehending him was a big no no. so I called the police while I'm trying to verbally calm him down. the cops never showed after 35 min. then I see a squad car pull up I said to them thank you for coming the guy is over there talking to himself now. the cop had no clue what I was talking about they came to eat -_- they never even dispatched anyone. and as an armed guard they tell us we have no arresting power and to be very careful of how we do our work. now imagine if the guy was armed or is I wasn't armed anything could of happened. I like to believe because of my training and the fact that I kept my distance with my hand on my gun prevented the situation from escalating.
Excellent job handling the situation. You did everything right. I did both armed and unarmed security before I became a cop. I preferred armed. Once again good job.
I was an armed guard for over 10 years and I worked an apartment complex with another guard(an ex-police officer) who had been previously shot while working at this same complex. He returned fire and killed the shooter. Before he was shot this was an armed post but after, the client decided he didn't want the guards to be armed anymore. That never made any sense to me.
Southern Land : no offense but why would he be, now one can’t protect his family, home, property , what ever it may be, and I understand home invasions are up like 200%, Yup , that’s just working out great for a lot of Aussies.
@@rickcholmes1768 Gun control is not crime control? If somebody breaks into your house, should you grab a gun or calling the police to take care of your body?
When my son was in the Indiana national guard during weapons training they stressed only firing three round bursts and only firing at what you can hit, otherwise they use up all their ammo too quick and have nothing left to repel counter attacks.
Full Auto burns ammo at 10 rounds per second, thus a standard 20 round magazine lasts only 2 seconds. So 10 mags, 200 rounds is gone in 20 seconds of shooting time. TIME OUT, I'm outa ammo.!!!
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson
There's three types of firearm actually. Behind semi-automatic and fully automatic, we have single load cartridge or bolt-action. Regardless, additional gun laws should be fought hard, our second ammendment must be protected!
What the rabid, foaming at the mouth Left, never say, the full auto is extremely difficult to purchase/own because it requires a federal class 3 license.
There was some guy in our backyard, a long time ago, and we waited over two hours for police to show up. Not one officer made it to our house, and we don't even know if they were notified. And if you want a faster response you'd better have the local police stations number, on hand.
One of the best sentences I have ever heard! " You are your own first responder. " think about that....when second's count, the police are only minutes away. Good luck with that.
Exactly, don't they realize doctors doing the same thing resulted in an opioid epidemic that has killed more people than guns in the US over the last decade.
"The said constitution shall never be construed to prevent the the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens from keeping their arms." Samuel Adams
Liberal democratic Australian senator David Leyonhjelm described Australia as a nation of victims due to their tough stance on gun control. He also warned America Not to follow Australia's example!
My ex wife showed up to my home once and I called the cops, they didn't show up for over an hour. I went out and bought my first gun the next day. Never again will I be left waiting for someone to come and protect me from someone that wants to do me or those I care about harm.
She's right -- you are your own first responder. I was in a convenience store one night with two county cops who were there buying snacks. I heard them receive a radio call of shots fired at a trailer park that was less than a mile away. They replied that they were responding to the call. Did they rush out to their car and drive away with lights and siren? No. They laughed. One of them said, "Maybe he'll be out of bullets by the time we get there." Casually paid for their snacks and strolled out to their car. I love cops in general. But not those two.
People that aren't familiar with or never owned a gun, and don't know about guns, fear guns. Much like people that aren't familiar with or owned a large dog, and don't know about a large dog, fear large dogs. I think that these types of people share the same mind-set of trying to ban what they are ignorant about. People try to ban certain types of guns just like the try to ban certain types of large dogs. I see it, many other people don't.
actually dogs can be dangerous, just as cars, big dogs, airplanes with easily accessible cockpits or armed civilians onboard. which is why you have to have a drivers license, why, you're not allowed to drive drunk or while texting. it's why dogs have to wear line and/or muzzle, and it's why after 9/11 legislation was passed to make planes more secure. and by the way, the US ARE more or less the only western country without strict gun laws, another notable exception being switzerland. although even they have reformed their gun laws several times since 1999. still, if you check the statistics they have more deaths by firearms per capita than any other european country, or even most countries in the world (expept USA and south africa). guns kill people. and before you say people kill people, what about the 23 people shot in the first 5 months this year in the US by TODDLERS? wanna start a war on kids now? yup, there is no reason to ban all guns, but small arms and hunting rifles are a different thing than full- or semiautomatic assault rifles. you also can't just buy c4 or nuclear weapons, but i don't hear anyone (sane) complaining about that. same goes for drivers (or flying) licenses, but gun licenses are evil? shouldn't people be mentally fit to handle a gun? and what i understand the least, what's the problem with waiting periods when buying a gun? if someone really "needs" a gun NOW, something is probably fishy anyway. unless you absolutely want to shoot someone right i don't believe having to wait a week or should be any problem.
Your right big dogs can be as dangerous as cars so can baseball bats knives crowbars just about anything some crazy person can use as a weapon i guess we need new regulations on everything.
+Covers70 I wonder what the total number of people murdered by dogs, baseball bats, knives, crowbars, etcetera actually is compared to guns? That's a rhetorical question. All I know is, if I'm in a room full of people, and nobody has a gun, my chances of getting shot are 0%. Own all the guns you want. I really don't care. Just leave them at home.
+Richard Darlington ::: ... Sorry to say how wrong you are, if that room full of people you are with happens to be invaded by criminals with a couple guns. What odds do you have of being shot then?
Richard Darlington You mean like nightclub full of people that that didn't have guns until a crazy person comes in and targets them because he knows they cant defend themselves?
I think the point is that anti-gun people are against guns. It does not matter if the firearm is select fire, semiauto, or single shot. I believe that they are against all of them.
Has there EVER been a mass shooting at a gun show? No. Thousands or ready to shoot guns on hand, and all the ammunition you could want, and yet there’s never been a shooting at a gun show. Has there ever been a mass shooting at an NRA event? No. Has there EVER been a shooting at a venue where you would expect at least some of the attendees to be armed? No. That’s what responsible and reasonable gun control looks like.
"Our next president" Scarry schidt. I remember that November 2016 evening, as i believed so myself and suddenly the radio announces she called Trump to congratulate him. What a moment 🎉🎉🎉
I was in the multi-family industry as a property manager, recalling one experience when I just checked into the office I remember one of my tenants would come down and wait for their med transportation service to pick them up in front of the office and this one time while waiting an individual came at them from the street casing them around a parked truck with a knife. I immediately call 911, telling police about the emergency taking place then the individual turns and walks down the street. The police only showed up after receiving another call about another person who was stabbed by this individual down the street. They finally came by the office asking if I was the initial call regarding the emergency..
"If you need defense, call 911". Great idea, but police officers are NOT sworn to defend people from harm. Their job is to catch criminals, and, until they do something illegal, they aren't criminals.
I don't care whether you like guns or not. In America, it is your right given to you at birth, not by government, but by whatever creator there is. And you can use it against tyrants who infringe on these natural rights.
