Danby Kegerator Build Part 2 It's Finished

+Carolina Chris Outdoors Chris I put the CO2 and regulator in the fridge for two reasons. #1 it fit & #2 cleaner look. The beer is just in stainless steel Pepsi kegs in the fridge. It does not run through a cold plate at all. I was quite pleased with it. Previously I had a regular sized fridge with two taps mounted on front of the door. Much easier if you have the room for it. I liked the size of the mini fridge more. I only replaced the larger fridge once it stopped working......Take care, Mike.

+Geb Marett Thanks for watching and commenting. Too bad your GE fridge didn't work out. My CO2 cylinder is a 5 pound size. It fit on the compressor ledge or hump no problem. With older Pepsi kegs you may not have to cut the right side tray support like I did. I have seen others with the same fridge fit two kegs in without cutting the right side tray support. I have three kegs (only two at a time in the fridge). Two are brand new and appear to be slightly wider than the old one, thats why I trimmed the right side. If you do trim, be very careful not to cut too deep into the insulation as there is a red wire that I think is for the thermostat in the side wall. As far as I know there are no freon lines in the top. Just be careful. It is kind of nerve racking cutting up a new fridge. Thanks, I hope this video helped you. As far as I know with the Danby mini fridges there are no cooling lines in the top. With this model the cooling lines are in the back plate which is very visible from inside the fridge. I think there would be room to drill a hole for a CO2 line out the back or even the side. I did drill out through the drain hole near the bottom of the back to get a temperature probe wire through it. Since this build, I replaced the original thermostat with an STC-1000 Temperature Controller. I can better control the temperature with this. It can make my fridge run a little cooler than the original thermostat. That is not a must do. Before I built this I did search on how to find where cooling lines were and there were several videos or articles online showing how to find them with cornstarch and water. You could also check out some of the homebrew Forums on the internet for more info. If you are really just wanting a kegerator without building one, Costco and Walmart sell a Danby Kegerator that is a little bigger than this one. It comes with a CO2 tank and they are available in single , double or triple tap towers. If you are in Canada, Ontario Beer Kegs (OBK) Sells kegerators also. @@willreid359 I know what you mean about the satisfaction of building your own. I got the fridge at Costco in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Did you get a fridge yet? Keep looking for videos there seem to be some great ones out there. I got ideas from several and just did my own thing.

The 1/6 barrel kegs are about 3/8 inch larger in diameter. I've seen it done by taking a dremel to some of the interior plastic and insulation on the interior side of the door and the interior "step" in the lower bottom of the back of the cabinet. Just remove material only in the areas where the kegs interfere.

I just used screws but many people will use small bolts through the top with a nut and washer. More secure with bolts I guess.....Take care, Bluefin.

Thanks for watching and commenting on my build. I'm currently away from home working. I would need to measure the space once I get home again in early January. There may be 2 to 4 inches of space from the top of my 5 lb. CO2 tank to the top of the fridge but for now, I can't say for sure. Do you have a 10 lb. tank now?
