Dance Fever Disco Playlist: M - Pop Music Pablo Cruise - I Go To Rio Hott City - Feeling Love Meco - Theme From Close Encounters Of The Third Kind Marathon - I Want To Dance Evelyn King - Out There
Man, this brings back good memories; My girlfriend and I (who I married in 1980 and still together today) had our first place, cheap rent in Clearwater, FL...you could go out to dinner, keep your bills paid and just LIVE. We never missed Dance Fever unless we were out ourselves...good times.
What I remember is that Dan Hartman's "Instant Replay" seemed to be the song at least one couple danced to on every show. "Born to Be Alive" was a favorite, too.
Deney Terrio came to the Philippines and performed in a dance concert during the 80s. We were amazed by his talent and kind gestures. I think he came back after that concert to perform and host the local version of the Dance Fever.
Deney Terrio was the shit !!!!!! I always watched Dance Fever back in the day !!!! I always loved the dancer Diane Day beautiful and a great body. The judge Robert Shields was cranked up LOL !!!
You said it honey !!! Deney the dance king . Glad AIDS or drug a overdose didn't get him like the others . Bringing these old videos out of mothballs was a good idea : )
Great footage from a great show. I love disco. Your credits omit Boris Midney’s Beautiful Bend’s “Boogie Motion” heard from 2 to 4 minutes in. The Hott City song was “Feelin’ Love,” not “Feeling Love.” The playlist miswrites Marathon’s “I Wanna Dance” as “I Want To Dance” and doesn’t say it is from the “Thank God It’s Friday” soundtrack. Thanks for posting, I’d buy this kind of stuff if it was on DVD.
~ Peter Allen wrote & performed 1976's "I Go To Rio" on A&m 12' - no DJ worth their salt plays the Pablo Cruise version - shame Dance Fever. Beautiful Bend's Boogie Motion hooray 1978!! The group Marathon from the movie 'Thank God It's Friday' still hot as well. This music is eternal & still fresh in 2018. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
Wow! This is the best! I was 4 yrs old watching this every weekend. My Mom would make us Jiffy Pop and we would watch together. Times were so much better then. People had fun! Music was great!
Sadly, original "Dance Fever" announcer/DJ Freeman King passed away of a heart attack on his 59th birthday, June 1, 2002. His replacement on "Dance Fever", Charlie O'Donnell, passed away from congestive heart failure on November 1, 2010.
Thanks for posting these. Actually, I didn't start watching dance fever until around 83 or 84. Or maybe 1982. I was maybe a year or several months old when this started. My grandmother and my mother used to watch that show every Saturday afternoon on KTVU channel 2 in the bay area. By the way, one more thing. I wonder what song is that couple number four was dancing to? Yes I know it’s called I wanna dance but I wonder who the artist is.
Adrienne Gurge i'm going to be honest. I wasn't crazy about dancing with the stars. I love the old-school dance shows like solid gold, American Bandstand, soul train, of course dance fever, and another show produced by Dick Clark Called puttin' on the hits. Those was the shows that I grew up on. And I know this one is not a dance show but I even loved Star search.
Now THIS is how I remember the show. Mostly, "you've got my body movin' in boogie motion", which ALWAYS played as he introduced people. I used to put the show on just to hear that song.
The host was paid 3k a show. He said that he should have been paid 10k-15k each show. He used coke in the 80s since everyone was. I wasnt. hmm. He is straight- but was hit on by the management, Harrassed-
Lol..my nieces just now reminiscing about me spinning and tossing them around my mom's living room...breaking everything on the coffee table...lol..my mom yelling back there..."oh no, what broke.."..lol
Note the bad video image. Yes, it’s a vhs copy, but also video wasn’t very sharp back then. It couldn’t handle light, white clothes, etc. it looks like they also use a soft focus too. It’s better to have a smaller set well lit, than a huge set that’s dim. 1979 was the time the public was tired of disco. By the way, these shows were all taped one right after another.
Dumb Dance Fever Producers did'nt prepare for the rapid change of the 80's music which came almost overnight 😈😆! I SURE HATED THE GAUDY 70'S Disco crap dancing as a young kid back in the day and had to listen to like Pink Floyd and Ozzy Osburn, and was sooo glad the 80 's just pop-out to replace this disco crap 😬😠
The disco era is a definite low point in the history of humanity. Awful clothes. Awful music. And the whole 'I don't give a Fu## mentality'. Thank god it only lasted a few years.
