@Kastaclysm : At 4:13:00, you ask if Vincent is/was a Turk. It's been quite some time, but back when you first met him under the Shinra Manor, just after you fought him as the Galian Beast, Cait explicitely tells him "i know your story. Vincent Valentine, former Turk". And for now, that's all we know about him, beside the fact he and Sephiroth have "history".
Chapter 13 is basically my favorite part of the game. You have so much more self control than I do… at this point I was a runaway train toward the end trying to absorb every bit of story I could… sleep be damned 😂 I’m here for the ride… 👏🔥👏
I'm about 20 vids behind but I can't resist this part, and the next and the next. Woohoo this is MEATY on story from now. I already can't wait for the third installment lol
I did this really fun thing I was so pissed off after this minigame protorelic I skipped it all went to gongaga finished it went to cosmo canyon skipped everything after cave of gi blitzed through niebleheim now I'm busy getting everything done I skipped over lol😂😂 I got so destroyed by Odin because of how under leveled was 😅😅
If you have to do more 3D Brawler stuff and struggle with it as much as I did, there is a cheesy way to do it by pausing the game whenever they start moving which gives you time to react. You still have to figure out how each move looks like so it might take some tries but its a lot easier than having to react immediately.
one thing i sometimes think about in these videos is that she went through all the trouble of insisting on beating the summons only at the hardest level, but then after she finally got bahamut by beating it at the hardest level, putting in an enormous amount of work to do so, she neither used or even equipped bahamut even once. like why do all that work and then not use your reward?
Even though I thought Bahamut was cool as HELL I rarely ever used him or any other summons either. I was so used to setting up attack strategies without them that they rarely ever crossed my mind. I only used them in desperate situations, which I almost never found myself in.
@@TheCactuar124 they improve your stats as well, so which summon you have equipped still has influence even if you never use it. I think the OP was just sad the strongest summons weren't being used over potentially weaker choices.
She also has had really outdated armor on multiple characters for a long time. She's not really about stepping back and looking at her party setup in a comprehensive way. And you definitely don't need to do that to beat the game, even though I enjoy that playstyle more :)
1:20:54 i personally had finished the quests and queensblood before this. But ill be here to watch your post game stuff. Youve still got a load to do if you plan on finishing it all. Anyway here it is. The finale.
A "little bit of a cliffhanger"?! A little bit of an understatement🤣 Looking forward to that ultimate episode! I'll be back home this weekend, so if it drops then, it'll be a 'homecoming' 👀
This was a really good cutting point though, probably the best if the Temple isn't all in one episode. The Temple run basically has the intro/Shinra half with the Turks as duo/quadro final bosses, and then the...second half :)
2:25:45 This video is just chock full of rewarding revelations! I think the only thing left is her recognizing link materia glows when it's working. This should've been a bingo card 🙌🏾
Just so you’re aware @Kastaclysm, you are 100% story locked as soon as you hit the dock to the temple. Anything extra you’ll have to wait to do until game clear.
I guess I can't blame her too much for not getting what "You will not be able to return after landing" meant, since it's given somewhat similar warnings before but let you return later anyway.
I just got to the end. Wow amazing video if youre really going to put everything else story wise into one episode.... thats gonna be a pretty long final episode. I love that this beat gow as your longest playthrough too. The side stuff will be awesome too. Youll have a few more episodes if you plan to complete everything lol.
Your intro a made me laugh 😂 “only sith deal in absolutes” If you didn’t know ‘cait sith’ is the name of a Scottish mythological cat (which explains his accent). It’s very possible George Lucas just liked the name and repurposed it for the Star Wars universe, something he did with a lot of different mythologies.
Except of course the Scottish myth isn't pronounced this way, so making that connection to the other Sith is sort of rubbing salt in the wound of why they kept a misleading pronunciation in the English version of the game (while, I hear, doing it correctly in the JP version)
Yea Cait Sith betrays you in the original too, but it's way worse. In this version it's more sympathetic, whereas in the original he does something way more evil.
1:20:41 It literally warns you by saying you will not be able to return after landing and still choosing to ignore it but to be fair I had trouble with the 3d brawler too took 4 hours to get good at Sephiroth never again
@@Kastaclysm Yay!!! so ready! Postgame is actually really fun / breath of fresh air following all the heavy stuff we just witnessed and will witness in part 30.
I was not expecting you to get that far into chapter 13 holy moly haha. Close to the end. Let's goooooooo! Also yes he's a former Turk. Cait talks about it when you first meet him.
You probably got your butt handed to you in 3D brawler,or vs the double summons in the island, or gilgamesh (if you ever reached him ) so you wanted to level up then come back later. No way you decided to keep going and not clean up despite the warning that there's no going back.
"THAT DARNED CAT" -great movie, starring Dean Jones. I think Cait has a good reason(or not). I agree, we need to here him out. As far as trusting in video games, 1) LOU2 w/ Joel's demise, which was unexpected and 2) Elden Ring, whereas, two NPCs you have to fight. One in particular, gives you loads of advice( incuding not to trust no one). He waits for you to do all of the dirty work(clearing out most all the bosses) , and then takes you on, as he too, sought to become Elden Lord.
I'd say the method to force himself to stick with the group, yes. But evidently that was an English change (slightly) and that change went to all non-japanese languages).
@@hencytjoeWell, y'know, it's not like you're saying it in the street and some randomer who won't care overhears it, Maggie is going on a final fantasy blitz and is very interested in the whole lore so if there was any spoilers, you're spoiling someone who has made it abundantly clear they're interested in seeing the story play out.
One the best part of this game is each character has there moment that you play as them. Barret=Cavs/Dyne fight, Yuffie= Up the mountain, Tifa=Gongaga, Red=Cosmo Canyon, Cait= Nibelheim, Aerith= The temple. All have there unique moves too. Love it.
"The cloud you are trying to reach is no longer available" 😭😭 the minute he touched roche he was gone. He has been acting like a man possessed ever since. I keep thinking in the temple portion only 5% of cloud remains. At most.
I read this comment before the moment, and when it happened I STILL thought it was Tifa until I rewound, laughed, and came here to like this comment lol 😅
3:53:22 to answer your previous question, Subversion materia would’ve been great to use here. Using (Breach and (Dispel) would’ve removed those shields from those hecteyes
1:08:11 the shinra middle managers subtitle-name should have definitely changed to ‘ultimate party animal’ from that point on for the rest of the convo.
The OG japanese version did stuff like that for him. Whatever his mood was, was part of the nickname. Enthusastic middle manager. Disgruntled middle manager. Fed up middle manager. Former middle manager.
While playing through the Temple I was amazed the entire time at the work that Square put into this location (and of course the whole game). But the temple, with the shifting paths and lifestream manipulation was just S tier for me. I can't wait to see your reactions in the next couple videos
Scotch and Kotch are as bad as the Don, when cloud was chosen in part 1 they were going to be in that room with those others trying to assault tifa and Aerith
Actually Scotch was in there. Not sure where Kotch got himself waylaid. But this game has a lot of sympathy for devils. Reno and Rude are intentional mass murderers, Tseng too. Worse it wasn’t even strategically necessary or even a half decent plan. Avalanche also has plenty of collateral damage in the form of dozens of lives at least from their bombings. Though in remake they at least try to make the civilian deaths less of their fault. Not to say that I believe civilian casualties are 100% avoidable during such conflicts but like the only thing wrong with killing the Turks is if you don’t believe in the death penalty or you think they should only be killed while they are actively fighting back.
4:13:02 hey Kasta, think you might have forgotten this but when the party first meets Vincent, Cait Sith identifies him as a "former turk". Just figured Id clear that up 🙂
@2:32:30 I cannot watch this scene and NOT think about that FMV early in FFX; "People die, and Yuna dances". If Maggie ever plays X, I'm sure she'll make that comparison.
It really does seem like a direct reference to or Easter egg. But given the way Shinto priestesses do some ceremonies it could just be a cultural shorthand for a different audience. Like how a lot of characters in media placed in different times do things like getting down on one knee to propose even though that was not a thing until the 1800s and the intense romanticization of medieval knights and chivalry. Like our media has everyone doing it even things set in Ancient Greece and medieval Europe.
The turks are really lucky that the party keeps sparing them after kicking their butt so many times even after all that they did. I mean they are responsible for the death of sector 7 and our friends.
Each time I see that cutscene I wonder if they chose Elena as Cloud's almost-execution target because she was the only one we didn't witness in a successful conspiracy to commit mass murder, or just because she's a cute younger girl.
also to answer your question, im terrible at blocking but I love subversion for breach and dispel, time for haste and slow, comet for massive nukes, and poison and petrify (especially with auto cast) because petrify is amazing ❤
I think she got really hung up on feeling guilty about blocking (I don't find the blocking to be an enjoyable mechanic in this game either) but then that turned into an overall inclination to give up on looking at a lot of the combat mechanics. So many materia she is obviously aware she hasn't seriously read or tried using... Not gonna say anything about warding+lightning either...again :P
Since I thought she was doing more side missions at the start of the video I was excited to see where the Labyrinth/Bowie reference was gonna be, but once she went into the Temple it became obvious :)
And she uses the shield instead. XD The shield is good for a quick block but enemies can get around it and the characters don't stay behind the shield unless you're controlling them. So you're basically just wasting an ATB block. It's cool, she gets through the fights fine, but it just amuses me because the whole point of making Aerith badass is using her wards and setting them down as soon as you can in a fight. Not to mention summoning her familiar to strengthen damage. I just realized myself halfway through the game that I wasn't summoning her familiar properly. The same way I FINALLY figured out Yuffie's Ninjitsu. It's little things in this combat that can throw you for sure. But seriously Square needs to get on it about that damn shield. The shield is not helpful unless it moves WITH your character. It's like they designed this very pretty flower shield and didn't think things through. LMAO. I love that her Chrono aegis moves with Aerith.
Another nice play through, loved every minute of it. The OG had many heart-breaking moments, and this game keeps them rolling. Looking forward to the next episode!
At this point, I just want Kas to use punisher counter because planting yourself in the middle of a horde of shinra goons and countering is one of the most satisfying things you can do in this game and I feel like she's missing out 😂
Kastaclysm said at the end of her video, she plans on finishing up all of johnny's teasures. Hope she knows she'll have to go back to her least favorite mini-game cactuar crush LOL. also, brutal and legendary bouts which are both locked behind hard mode :(
There is no way she’s doing all of those, you have to complete every minigame, 3D brawler, miscellaneous objectives like the box throwing with cait sith and the vr missions which are no joke, you have to have a real understanding of the mechanics of this game plus luck to get through those.
@@dearthofdoohickeys4703 right, but to do brutal and legendary bouts, you have to be in hard mode. never said you had to clear hard mode for them to show up.
@@aks126 “locked behind hard mode” implies you have to beat hard mode. Hard mode is easy to access, there’s no barrier, so I just don’t get why you’re criticizing it as if it was 🤷♂️
@@dearthofdoohickeys4703 if thats how you took it, then thats my bad. i should have said to access brutal and legendary bouts, you have to attempt them within hard mode(not clearing this mode). sure, hard mode itself is easy to achieve. completeing brutal and legendary is what im getting at. at the end of the day, we're both here to enjoy the content kastaclysm puts out.
It would be great if you played the OG ff7 game and only play the first disc, which ends exactly at the capital of the ancients instead of waiting 4 years lol. That way you can see for yourself the differences between the two, without spoiling yourself. Disc one covers Midgar, and everything on Rebirth with some differences of course.
Sad fact about Reno: The reason to why Reno has had so little screen time in Rebirth is because the japanese voice actor Keiji Fujiwara passed away during development (in april 2020, the year remake was released, two months into covid). They didn't want to replace him, which I personally respect a lot. What they did was use pre-recordings and reused lines from remake in the japanese version. So to make it easier, and to make it look/sound better, they gave Reno reduced screen time but saying he was on leave. The English actor is all well. That's why Reno has a lot less to do, in this part, than he did in the OG.
So, this may be a spoiler but about the Party Level 10.... You won't get there until you beat the game, so if you're holding onto your points until then, you're going to be disappointed.
Once you land on the northern continent you can’t finish the rest of the content unless you do new game plus. So basically you did miss finishing queens blood and the proto relic quests. Just letting you know. You could do chapter select also just figured to let you know
Gilgamesh is pretty much a FF staple at this point. He was introduced in FF5 as a recurring villain (like an early Turk) and has since showed up in plenty of FF games, usually as an optional boss. And unlike Cid it's actually the same person (at least in most cases). He's very unique in that way since the main FF games are otherwise kept separate.
8:30 Yuffie has the biggest fuckin balls right now, daring to act like she isn't the EXACT same character. Damn, and I was starting to like this modern Yuffie. Silly me 😒
Ive watched alot of youtube playthroughs in the last decade and i really believe this might be the greatest playthrough of all time. You never look bored It never seems like a chore You are embracing every challenge and obstacle You are having fun The excitement and emotions in your reactions feel genuine. You have just been perfect.
