I'm a little confused if you are aware of what Road to Kingdom is by some of the comments you made in the video. There are no cuts or breaks in the performance if you are referring to them stopping and starting the performance over again, the cuts are the multiple cameras in the room and editing the angles for broadcast but it is only one take. Everyone only gets a rehearsal and one chance to perform their piece on this show, some make mistakes, even in the performance you reacted to there were minor mistakes made but there are no redos because its a competition. There are different challenges each group is given where they have to perform/remake either their song or someone else's song. The point of this show is that 7 underrated group are performing for a spot in Kingdom, an upcoming show that will give them a lot more exposure and popularity. In the past, there was a female version called Queendom. I hope this clears up any confusion about this show.
The theme for this is Thieves, they were stealing the crown. Actually the whole theme of their story in the show was about them getting a crown, stating that they're "the kings"
This song is Danger by Taemin, aka the king himself lol. They performed two of their own songs, Reveal which is their latest comeback, and a new song they made for the show called Chackmate. Both legendary. Please react to them 🙏🏻💕
the song is originally by taemin from shinee and they rearranged it for this performance! they performed a rearranged version of their own song 'reveal' on one of the episodes (and the story in reveal connects to danger and then goes on all the way to the final) and also 'checkmate' which was made for the final and actually performed live, all the other ones were prerecorded (but still! they only had one chance). thank you for the videos! i'm learning lots of very interesting new things from them and they're very fun to watch at the same time.
I hope after this you watch the continuation of Danger that is "Reveal (Catching Fire)" where they use hunger games catching fire concept for this performance... Also after that i hope you watch "Checkmate" their last performance, their last story line! Thankyou for reacting to the boyz hope you react again to them
That ‘stair’ move at the beginning was one of the main things that they focused on during the short rehearsal period, as well as their other stunts for other performances...as a dancer myself it was important for me to look at the rehearsal to see if they focused on technique for it and I was super glad to see that they really focused on it, to to the point where the person being the jump off point made sure to pop his back a bit to make it easier for the jumper and also made sure the jumper was stepping on the right point of his back. Also, the only episode that was live was the finale but all the performances are one takes, the versions with edits that we see on the actual episodes are just cuts from the different camera angles that were set up for the sake of bumping up the excitement...which with The Boyz’s performances I kind of wish they didn’t cut so much as they really worked on their performances being dynamic without needing so much camera work.
the only thing that disappointed me for this perf was the camera work during the breakdown part when changmin was stepping on the members backs, it was meant to be shown from a low direct front angle to look like he was skating on them but the angle messed it up :(
Explaining where that escalator move came from, just made a cool dance cooler. If it wasnt mentioned, this is their second performance from the Road to Kingdom. They are competing for a spot to be on a show in the fall called "Kingdom" which is the second season from last year's Queendom. Their quest for this performance was to use a song from someone you consider a King and they chose to use Taemin's Danger. For their 4th performance their quest was to use or incorporate a given song into their performance and they received Vixx's Shangri La. They ended up combining Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (which is the second half of Beethoven's Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia). By combining Moonlight Sonata and Shangri La, the concept becomes "The Way to the promised Land" Moonlight lights the road (Moonlight Sonata) Shangri La = promised land = Kingdom Thus becoming "Road to Kingdom"
I always find your commentary really enjoyable and easy to follow, for someone not really experienced in dance lol. You're really insightful on the topic and I love watching your videos for that, makes me appreciate the performances more. Thanks for reacting to The Boyz's performances, Deobis appreciate it :), and I hope you'll react to their remaining RTK performances!
Their performances are a storyline in a way, where they empathize them being the Kings for RTK. So watching them in order would be very helpful (danger-reveal-quasi una fantasia-checkmate) I dont really want to go too into it so I won't spoil so I'd reccomend to watch them in order. Also, for the jumping/running on top of the members, the one running (Sunwoo) made a mistake, when he stepped on the third person's body, instead of stepping on his back like he was supposed to, he stepped on his shoulder, making it even harder to get to the last person's body without harming anyone, so yes, the Boyz do very dangerous stunts, and Sunwoo is now called their "stuntman" even though hes scared of heights 😂
You should watch their Reveal (Catching Fire) performance from road to kingdom after this one since those two are connected! And the Checkmate performance in the end since it contains "flashbacks" to all their performances Both are their songs - Reveal their latest comeback ans Checkmate a song that was mainly produced for this show I love how they've connected their performances and put so many details in it which is probably the reason why they won this whole show
Also every performance in road to kingdom is live and a one-take so one mistake and the whole performance could be ruined which requires of course lots of concentration
their concept for this is phantom thieves which i believe was inspired by the anime kaito kid! and this song is by taemin from shinee! for this performance all the groups had to choose a “song by king(s)” so each group chose another group’s (or in the boyz’s case, a soloist’s) they considered as kpop kings to perform :)
As most of the Road To Kingdom performances are with rearranged songs, it would be nice to see you react to the original first and then to the performance of Road To Kingdom. This performance is from the first round thats was about picking a song of someone who they consider is the king of the industry of kpop. This one is Danger from Taemin (Shinee member) who is like the best dancer of the industry (fight me). So if you plan to react to other The Boyz performances, the one from the second round is Reveal (which is their own song) you can react to the original first to see the impressive changes they make in the rearrangement. The other 3 performances left are the one for the collaboration round: Heroin by Sunmi (in collaboration with oneus, just some of the members); and the last one is the final round so is a new song of them 'Checkmate'. Then there's the 90 second intro performance (i think you haven't react to it but I'm not sure), it's called Sword of the king, i believe that song is simply for the program idk. I hope my information is useful and correct 💖 The boyz isn't the only group of the program obviously so I recommend watching other too, like ONF, ONEUS, VERIVERY(kings of synchronization). I don't think all the other performances are as impressive in dance or the story they have, but all of them are sooo cool and have very original concepts. Have a nice day ✨
in their danger performance the story is that they are phantom thieves taking the crown then in the next performance, reveal ( catching fire ) someone steals the crown and there is a revolution to get the crown back then for shangrila it was representing a flower path or something like that, the first two are connected meanwhile shangrila is kind of it's own story?
You mentioned jazz elements in here- actually, the dude who choreographed this also choreographed the original choreo for the original artist, Taemin, who IS trained in multiple styles of dance. That might be why lmao. Thank you for mentioning that! I'm not a dancer so it's really nice to get more insight into this amazing performance!
I am from India and this performance made me proud of both the boyz and the kings, as soon as i saw the stepping move i knew where it was from and it just shows the influence the kings have among dancers now ✨
They actually have a dance practice for this and at the beginning here they made a bit of a mistake in the stepping stunt my heart fell in the dance practice was better, also it is a one and done performance they have steady full cams for all the road to kingdom performances and you can see them running around the cameras and stuff for all for all the groups and its actually kinda crazy the performances look so beautiful and then you see the full cams and its insane al the prep it goes into one performance even those camera men where on point
You should check out another group from the show’s performance, Rising Sun by TOO. It’s my second favorite out of the entire show. (Danger is obviously first.)
Like you said what I liked is all the variety they put into the performance. In my opinion they did a really good job with the intro to catch the audience's attention and create the atmosphere for the rest of the performance. And one good quality they have is the can make each member have their moment but still feel like a group. But I love dance tricks, it's a personal favorite, so they bought me just with that. Sorry 😅.

Next reveal catching fire PLEASE
4 года назад
Check out their dance practice for this, it's truly insane and beautiful
I also suggest watching one of Verivery's performance on RTK, Gogobebe (original by Mamamoo). The whole thing is a one-take and the vibes from that are great. I also suggest Follow pentagon ver on rtk! The performances that round were my favorite
Someone has probably already commented, but I'll just explain what I know (I'm a new deobi). So Danger is like their first performance on the show Road to Kingdom and basically, all their performances (expect Quasi Una Fantasia, I'm unsure about that one) follow this storyline of The Boyz stealing the crown and them sort of becoming the true kings. You have to watch their other performances Reveal Catching Fire and Checkmate to get the full story. The order of their performances are Danger, Reveal Catching Fire, Quasi Una Fantasia and Checkmate. Also, Danger is Taemin from Shinee's song but Reveal and I think Checkmate are their songs. I know Reveal is but idk about Checkmate, I think they made it for the show. Idk if I'm making any sense and idk how correct what I said is, it's just my observations from their performances, but hopefully this maybe helped :) Also please maybe react to Bloom Bloom by The Boyz, it's a cute song hehe :)
completely unrelated to the boyz, but it would be really cool if you reacted to this contemporary dance by seventeen's the8!! it's to a song he helped compose/write lyrics for/choreograph and it's really beautiful :'-) its called falling down!! otherwise you should definitely react to the boyz's reveal catching fire performance for rtk and of course, checkmate! all of these performances are one take with multiple cameras and it truly adds to how cool they are!!!
I would love to see your reaction to TOO's rising sun performance on road to kingdom! Its quite possibly my favourite performance from road to kingdom - at the time of the show recording they were barely debuted but they were t h a t good
React to (1) The Boyz - Reveal (Catching Fire) and (2) The Boyz- Checkmate performance for Road To Kingdom. There is a storyline going from their road to Kingdom performances. Hwarang-Danger-Reveal(Catching Fire)-Quasi Una Fantasia (ShangriLa)-Checkmate
each round there is a theme - eg song of king, my song,,,, sometimes they do their own song sometimes they cover songs depends what the theme of the round is
If you like those crazy acrobatic stunt type dances you should check out "don't tease me" dance practice by the (now disbanded) kpop boy group SPEED. they have some wild high flying tricks in that.
The phantom thieves and this performance is partly inspired by the game called Persona 5. The card Younghoon throws at the beginning is a calling card, and Phantom Thieves is the name of the group of protagonists in the game. Also the mask is also a reference since they all wear masks. Also all the performances on the show are filmed in one go. The edits are there because there are many cameras to focus on member close ups. There's no redoing. You can watch the Fancam version to see how they quickly shuffle around the stage to get in position throughout.
Yes they were actually thieves. This song was "Danger" by Taemin (so not their own). The Boyz had the idea to continue this storyline in their next performance (which is epic btw, please check it out!). This time they performed a re-arranged version of their own song "Reveal". "Quasi una fantasia" didn't really continue the whole storyline but they chose to incorporate a message since they did that in every performance.
this is round was called "king's song"! so they chose taemin's danger! they performed an original song 3 times only! the first round, the 90 sec perf, the "my song" round and also the final round!
addition: their next round, the "my song" performance, is connected to this performance, and later connected to quasi una fantasia, and even later the final round, with the theme of the Moon.
Actually quasi una fantasia that you watch is their third stage and it’s not giving a lot of stories. But if you watch the 1st, 2nd, and 4th stage, the stories of each performances continues, like they are telling us a story. A thief that stole the crown, an army to kept the crown and bring revolution, and a king that claims his throne. Hope you like them 💖💖💖
It would have helped with understanding the concept if you watched their performances in order. Because the show is a competition for the "Kingdom" and a "crown" is a royal symbol, the concept is them "stealing the crown". The lyrics of "Danger" has something to do with "stealing a heart" and the "night" (which is when thieves usually work) and "disappearing". Costuming and choreography-wise, they requested their choreographer to help them present it like a "musical number". The original music video done by Taemin for "Danger" also involves hats, dark-toned fabric...and their costumes basically are a homage to Taemin's different costumes in his entire career. If you watch the next performance, Reveal (Catching Fire), they continue with this "musical" vein. There's a story there, all the way to their final performance, Checkmate.
Please do the reacts on reveal and checkmate songs too. It's their own songs that also performed in road to kingdom... then you can realized the sequence on the quotes they've made. ^^ It is about the story line to showed they're king.
pleasee react to Reveal [Catching Fire]! the concept is a continuation of Danger and it's one of their pop songs turned into a ballad❤️ also, pleaseee react to their Checkmate performance as well! it was their final performance on Road To Kingdom🥰
The fact they are many of them got injured because of this performance where they have only 1 week with no experience of doing such dangerous things before.
Me when seeing that the program is called The Kings 👁👄👁 Good video!! Please react to Reveal (Catching Fire) please! Is the same group and the same program.
Idk, cmiiw, if another party's content is being used as sources for critics or reviews in your video there won't be problem with copyright issue. As long as u cite the original work too. I guess. But good job with explaining the dances style.
Lol this song is from taemin from shinee. The boyz added like the rap and some parts of the dance and some of the instrumental. Please do a react of the original! This was a great cover BUT the original is better! Taemin is a graceful dance god!
