I want to share my knowledge with YOU.
Hope ya'll enjoy this video!
Quick about me:
My real name is Tad, but DonKawaii/Don was simply an IGN name I created playing FF14 online, so I kinda just rolled with it. Lol. I am also a teacher, and I teach people dance. And normally, I teach my students dance through sharing my own choreography, giving people drills or exercises to build foundation and technique. and I've been dancing for 15 years mainly growing up through Hip Hop dance culture, but my foundation also includes minor areas in ballet, jazz, and tap. And how I got into K-Pop was because the main three groups, Wonder Girls, Big Bang, and SNSD. That followed with korean dramas, variety shows, and the rest is history.

Thanks for your reaction. One thing to keep in mind with this "tough mentor" video is that it is essentially a compilation of only the most intensely "strict" moments in her mentoring -- under conditions where she only had limited time to meet with each group and spot the most glaring problems in each group and help them fix those problems. Three days. 109 trainees divided into several groups, based on A, B, C, D and F rankings of the trainees. And Lisa only had an hour or less with each group during their 3-day preparation for a "one-take" competition where they would be rated (and some eliminated). No time at all to spend significant one-on-one relaxed and empathetic individualized coaching. Everything was in the group setting and when a problem was spotted it became the responsibility of the whole group to help each other polish, based on the advice Lisa gave them. In the case of the unsmiling girl, she was a rapper who had always projected a tough, cool image. Lisa spotted that her biggest weakness was that she didn't seem to think the facial expressions and smiling were a high priority. After her "wake-up call" from Lisa, she started focusing on her expressions and was praised by many for it. She ended up in the top 10 at the end of the show. The "tough mentor" video is not really representative of Lisa's overall mentoring style. For the most part, Lisa was usually smiling and cheering for them, while just matter-of-factly pointing out errors and showing them how to fix them. For example, there's a video of her with Yvonne Wang where she smiles and gets up and dances with the trainees when they forgot the moves. Another one where she hugged every member of the team because they did such a good job, etc. The "mentor Lisa in a nutshell" videos show some of those types of moments.

Mentoring during a survival elimination show is very demanding for the mentors and definitely for the trainees. But Lisa has lived this life for many years and knows exactly what these girls are going to have to go through if they are going to make it. She is strict, but not at all mean. And that girl that was told “you danced wrong” improved dramatically. Plus Lisa admitted that she did struggle to be strict because it’s not her natural personality. But she knew if she acted like her normal self, the trainees wouldn’t learn as well. She did a really good job and has become massively famous in China as a result. 🔥

“What’s wrong with you…” welcome to YG training style .. That’s how YG is with trainees, you can see it when iKON and winner were on who’s next, and mixed and match.

I am so glad that you are smart and understand the language thing! A lot of people dont get how hard it can be sometimes to express yourself properly when you know so many of them! Also, trainee training is so much different than just normal dancing and you understand that superwell too. Thank you for your reaction, enjoyed it lots! x

"You don't have to be sorry to me, be sorry to friends." This is important because Its a group effort. The rest of the group can't continue while one is left behind. As a group they have to do it over and over again until she gets it.

I really appreciate your in depth observation, analysis and also input in this video (and all of your other videos basically). A lot of dancer reaction videos tend to rely on the title “dancer” without actually contributing their dancing abilities/knowledge to their reactions to add more value and context to the reaction. It goes to show how genuine you are doing this and also how much you value yours and other’s craft in dancing/mentoring.

Glad you brought up the fact that English is not her first language because I think a lot of her harsh wording is actually just a result of a limited vocabulary so she has to be a bit more blunt. She is a Thai woman who usually is speaking Korean, in China with Chinese trainees and speaking to them in English. The language barrier here is a big reason behind the blunt wording and emphasis on facial expressions.

Thanks for your reaction. And the “more feeling” part, I think that may be related to the song because their theme song is kinda cute and bright

Thanks for this reaction! It was interesting to get the input of someone who actually trains other dancers - I'd honestly love to see your reaction to some of the clips of The8 (from Seventeen) being a dance mentor on the previous season of this show!

Bruh, truly enjoyed your reaction. You were pretty spot on in most of your comments. Lisa was mentoring 109 girls through an elimination style show. So yes, they were literally under time constraints as well as the pressure of being eliminated. So many variables to consider as you stated. Lisa speaks 5 languages and I believe you were right about how she expressed some things. At the same time she did have to be harsh at times. This is do or die basically fir the trainees so if they want to advance they have to learn or be sent home. Another thing to consider is that this particular compilation didn’t show Lisa laughing, joking, hugging, fan girling, and praising the trainees. All of which she did. She even gave gifts to some of the girls. On top of this, the Chinese public really fell in love with Lisa and praised her for being a good mentor which is why she was invited back to do season 3. Those that think Lisa was too hard or too tough or rude have never been coached in any competitive events like sports or dancing etc. and have lead very sheltered lives and will probably have a very rude awakening one day. Good reaction!

Exactly remember that's not her first language and people that speak multiple language can mess up the tone or the meaning cuz that in my language is not offensive at all
