As a 40 yr old member of the Diaspora what I see happening with the Traditional Stalwarts of dancehall is within 15 years they will Fade. In 15 years the current set of Traditional Ravers that attend dancehall events overseas are we who use to the 1990’s and Early 2000’s dancehall. I don’t really see the new generation displaying the ability to Support and maintain the genre. I don’t mean the artist. I mean the Diaspora Patronage. This has a lot to do with the content. Longevity and reach of the songs coming out. Reggae Needs a NEW REVIVaL, and once that’s done Dancehall will again stand out

Most of the new songs can’t leave the airports in Jamaica, and if it does it’s limited to the diaspora only . The average Jamaican have a negative mindset with a strong level of being unprofessional. The real interest in Reggae music got real sick on May 11,1981. And since that time reggae have lost its place in the hearts of the traditional fans. Reggae music was healthy back in the day. And the dance hall version of Reggae also play a major role in overseas people losing interest in reggae music. These days even reggae artist have to turn to dance hall music because one and one have to eat and have shelter inna real life.

Steflon don is a one hit wonder with that great tune with french Montana " Hurtin" Sadly & mistakenly she's opted to go down the slack & raw lyrics road which is the rage in ja dancehall But it's a dead end road because slackness,' raw lyrics & cursing lyrics ain't getting airplay in international mainstream or huge sales Dancehall music was fine when it was more reggae orientated Right now there is just a high turnover of garbage songs This is in inevitable if a large proportion of the artists are mediocre

If we really want this GENERATION of artists who are all into the "TRAP" sound to tap into the authentic dancehall riddims, then the people who can make them properly (Old G's) need to gather a few influencial ones along with veterans etc, pay them well and work along with them to produced some proper JUGGLING that is clean and have that feel good vibes. Can't bash them without a SOLUTION to at least try fix the problem. I love trap, but it's clear that dancehall has lost or loosing it's true identity and grip it had on the world. The DANCE and FEEL GOOD vibes needs to be restored into our music. HUMBLE PLEA TO ARTISTS: Take a timeoff from the trap sound for a while, the music is staturated already with it, and think about the "culture" preservation, if you guys don't take the batton and carry on the race, then it will eventually fade out and die. I hope someone with a platform can see this and highlight this comment. By XileTheArtiste (🇬🇾🇯🇲🇹🇹)

It’s nothing to do with being a puppet because music is a business and we must remember that and respect that . Enough of this manly , macho stuff that has been found out so it’s time to go back to basics and get it right again . The Afrobeats artists are making money , fame , acceptance and are not only United but are equally investing their dividends into other areas that will sustain them when the hits or big songs dry up . Afrobeats is making everyone dance again and the fact remains that no matter the dance you go to now regardless of it being mostly Jamaicans … when they play Afrobeats… the place erupts . That you to be the effect dancehall had on the fans . Afrobeats has come to stay and we must show love to our family from the motherland. It’s what it is

The new artist to influence by what the Americans are doing. The riddims have taken a step back. Every artist damn near sound the same now. I could be wrong everyone sound like they using auto tune. So no one sounds distinctive. You can't in one sense compare to afrobeats, because the African Diaspora is everywhere in the world. So naturally they gonna do numbers. Just like the Hispanic diaspora is bigger, so that advantage is built it in. The only thing that dancehall can do is make quality music. Reggae is in a better space in my estimation. If you check it soca, specifically french soca Zouk is very similar to afrobeats. Look at a group like Kassav them man dem being going all over the world for year, they had a big African fan base.

@@Lando-kx6so I don't have to..This conversation been going on for 15 years .I SWEAR TO GOD👏. At some point I co.e to realise that Jamaican music won't die .. JAMAICANS ARE JUST A BUNCH OF NEGATIVE PEOPLE WHO SEES THE GLASS HALF EMPTY ALL THE TIME. Ari was like "SHATTA WALLY DID SONG WITH BEYONCE, BEYONCE PEOPLE!"... Didn't Sean Paul do that 20years ago?????😂😂😂 LISTEN!!!! Jamaicans know the music ain't dying. We just love a sad story.. Jamaicans are negative Bro
