I'm a Blink, but there is no denying Red Velvet's vocals. Psycho is an amazing song and video. Easily one of my favorite songs by any group. In my opinion, Red Velvet and Mamamoo have the best combination of strong vocalists and intricate vocal arrangements.
one of the things that distinguishes Kpop from western pop is the fact that almost every (pop) song has choreo - i think that's partly because there has always been live performance shows. this has resulted in a culture where everybody remembers specific dances and moves associated with iconic songs and many people learn these moves. i think that is a major factor in the hand movements. this isn't a contemporary or ballet performance performed by classically trained dancers, it's pop idols giving you something to do along with them as you listen to their music (just an idea) also because idols are singing while performing, hand movements provide visual action without being so demanding on stamina and breathing.
Psycho is such a great song to begin into the rv world, they got even more intricate choreos in other songs. I'd recommend Irene & Seulgi's Monster the stage presence they got and some movements in it are just chef's kiss. Hope you like the group and react more to Red Velvet in the future 💗
Kpop has a nice balance of everything. I think thats one thing that most people don't know. You can find a ton of variety in Kpop and just like this for instance. You can find red velvet doing more of the cutesy, theatrical, style of dancing with their RED music (if you didn't know they cross back and forth between the more "traditional" Kpop that I think most people associate it with, the RED, and the more heavily influenced in hip hop and Rnb sound like this song which is the VELVET side of them. making Red Velvet. I think thats part of the reason that Kpop is appealing to a bigger audience everyday. Their versatility as artists and performers is impressive. Not just RV but many KPOP groups do this. Im not a professional dancer in anyway but I still consider that kind of choreo dance. Dance doesn't have to be a specific thing or style. Kpop is unique in that they have essentially made their own unique style of dance from other styles and mashing it with theirs. I would suggest trying something from their RED side like Russian Roulette or Ice Cream Cake. RV has always had smart choreo in my opinion. I do agree that SOME Kpop can make it to redundant with certain movements and choreo
It's really cool video. Girl in the middle in a black it's Seulgi. And girl on screen (14:52) it's Joy. When you push pause on her you've sad "enjoy" about three timer or more. It's fanny
the fact that we got robbed of psycho promotions because assholes at an award show fucked up and let wendy get injured is so so saddening ;-; im glad they got to perform ot5 psycho again in january of this year tho :' )
I don’t know if you’ve already heard this but you can watch a song featuring Wendy (the girl with white hair) with John Legend called “Written in the Stars” it’s super good!
Your outside perspective on female K-Pop dance is very interesting. I think what sets female K-Pop dance apart from the west is that they don't shy away from displaying femininity at all and do so in a much broader spectrum. Most western female pop artists rarely dance and when they do it is usually either overly sexual, or extremely minimal. Whereas in Korea being a competent dancer is a requirement in the industry. Their Confucian culture as a whole is also much more conservative and less tolerant towards oversexualisation. Instead they embrace the cutesy, the badass, the powerful and the elegant sides of femininity and create intricate coreographies around them.
I've only watched two of your reaction videos as of now.......and I just want you to know that I'll be very patiently waiting for the day when you notice "Dreamcatcher" (one of the most talented girl group, btw), react to their "Red Sun" Performance and be mesmerised by the choreography (which was created by one of the members herself) as well as the song, the vocals and the vibe. I hope you see my comment here.
@@RadostinaPetrova awww....thank you for your reply!!!!!!! I was very eager and forgot to mention that I'm a multistan and I love Red Velvet also. I'm sorry my comment seemed a bit rude, only promoting DC without regards to your video contents. But it's actually because Psycho performance reminds me of Red Sun. Thanks again for taking time to reply!!!
please check out Naughty-Irene and Seulgi Choreography Video, Monster-Irene and Seulgi, and Be Natural-Red Veltet ft. Taeyong(NCT). And react to a new girl group of Smtown Aespa-Black Mamba that's their debut song.
I apologize that this comment isn’t about the video being reacted to in this video but please react to the group Treasure! They are a great group with incredible dancing! Their songs “Boy”, “MMM”, and “I love you”, all have incredible and powerful choreography!
The "original visual" girl is Irene, who is the visual of the group, and known in the industry for being one of the most beautiful idols. And since you watched them, Seulgi (main dancer) and Irene have a duo-unit, with the main song being "Monster", which is also a niiice song and has a great performance video too in addition to the MV
Red Velvet have one of the best vocal lines in Kpop! Wendy, the platinum blonde is the BEST female vocalist of this generation. Her range is the widest in Kpop. Irene = "original visual" , her visuals are truly no joke. Many Korean netizens considering Irene as the most beautiful idol in the K-Pop industry, it’s no question that she’s become as popular as she is.
Irene is also talented af! She's the main rapper, lead dancer, and sub-vocalist! She has two dance covers first was Naughty Girl by Beyoncé and second was Don't Start Now by Dua Lipa. All her performances in her subunit with Seulgi was topnotch. HER GROWTH AS A PERFORMER LAST YEAR WAS AMAZING ACTUALLY THAT'S THE UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR BEST WOMAN OF THIS GENERATION PROUD OF OUR LEADER 😩💝
Irene is hands down the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. Its not just her face, her elegance abd the way she keeps herself guarded most of the time make her more attractive. Ik she is effortlessly funny with her closed ones but her slight hesitation in some situations makes her more desirable.... Did I write a whole para? Nvm I f love her so much
psycho has a meaning, not just normal love. It‘s about schizobulia, where all the five characters live in the same body, and irene is the original one who might be harmed by the others.
Red Velvet has the best voices in K-pop, they are like the "ad-lib queens" because they even carry the ad-libs from the original track and harmonize during the performance while dancing! Wendy, the white-haired girl is the main vocalist/singer of the group, she hits crazy notes, she is a vocal powerhouse. Seulgi is their main dancer, the one that has beautiful fierce cat eyes. "The girl in the middle." Irene, yes, you somewhat know it, she is the main visual of the group as she said it during her rap part.
From a dancer’s perspective, you could very well be blown away by Irene and Seulgi’s “Naughty” video. Edit: I posted this before you mentioned hand movements. My recommendation has a lot of tutting(sp?). Very intricate.
sadly, red velvet doesn't have much of dance practices, but ot5 has rookie, umpah umpah and look, zimzalabim has practice with fans irene & seulgi - monster (the stage), naughty, be natural
Just to let you know that this was choreographed by a 15 years old (she's 17 now coz this song came out 2019) named Bailey Sok a professional dancer and choreographer, she's one the best student of Matt Steffanina.
There are two choreographers for Psycho. Bailey Sok and Mina Myoung. Actually they took more choreography from Mina's but of course both choreographers deserve equal recognition :)
Red Velvet is top-tier. 💖 If you want to see some nuts choreography, 2 of the members had a sub-group debut last year. Check out Seulgi and Irene's "Naughty."
Psycho is the BEST our only regret is when promoting this song last year Wendy( the white bleached hair who was hitting the high notes) got injured from falling backstage almost 6 feet after their stage performance at SBS musicshow...The girls promoted the whole 2020 year without her as she was hospitalized and healing. we just got her back this year and she will release her first solo album on April next month!!!!
Believe it or not, Red Velvet have one of the hardest choreographies. Psycho and One Of These Nights might be the easiest choreo but damn all of their other songs' choreographies are hard af especially Rookie
You mentioned they used their hands a lot elegantly as if they were doing ballet. I am not sure if SM informed the choreographers about the concept of Psycho being based from the movie Black Swan (2010) the one lead by Natalie Portman but maybe that's why it looked like that, they probably incorporated a lot of hand movements and tweaked it a bit added more combo to look modern or bit contemporaryish :)
The girl in the middle with 2 bun is Seulgi. She is Main dancer and Lead vocal in the group. She's ace of kpop. And thanks for reaction to RV. .next please react Bad boy, be natural, Automatic, peek a boo..and from sub unit Irene & Seulgi : Monster, Naughty.
there isn't a dance practice cause Wendy (the blonde one) suffered an injury due to the negligence of a TV Company, 2 days after they released this song, so that's why you will see some shots are the asme as the MV. Also the shots are not the best quality when we referred to dance shots. About the girl in the Middle, that's Seulgi ! Main Dancer of RV ! she has this Girl crush vibe but she's cute hahaha there's a reason people say Seulgi and Ddeulgi xD About the original visual, yeah Irene is considered like the visual of 3rd generation ! It's a shame SM didnt release a lot of their dance practice but still there's are some interesting there ! hope u watch it and you as a dancer, have to say that is a must to react to "naughty" haha Spoiler, they practiced for like 5 months to learn the basic of (...) and the choreo ! great reaction ! have a nice day
I think I understood what you meant when you spoke of the way they are using their hands in the choreography, in a way it is as if the hand movements fit perfectly with the beat of the song. SM Ent. is known for doing this with her choreography. the dance is not to be explosive, it is there to harmonize with the music as if the dance were part of one of the singing voices. you can see a lot of this in the Red Velvet dances and also in other groups like EXO
I think it’s perfect that the dancer reacting to the video says, “I like the girl in the middle. She looks tough.” That tough girl is Seulgi and is the main dancer in Red Velvet and is considered by many in the industry to be one of the best dancers in Kpop.
As noted below you were right, the original visual is Irene (real name Bae Ju Hyun). She is one of the most beautiful women in the world and in Feb of 2019 was chosen as the first Asian model for Damiani (past ones are Sohia Loren and Gwyneth Paltrow). Also as noted below the vocals from Wendy, Seulgi and Joy are world class, and Yeri (the maknae) is great too! Looking forward to your reviews of Monster and Naughty (as you can prob tell Im a big fan of theirs)
Red Velvet has a lot to offer. They don't stick in just one concept. They can be cute, sexy, class, strong, cool or whatever you want them to be. That's why I'm a Reveluv ☺️
Another Great Reaction, As others have mentioned you definitely need to check out the M/Vs from the Seulgi & Irene Sub-Unit. “Monster” & “Naughty” . You will love them.
I FEEL LIKE YOURE A VERY FUNNY PERSON cuz you find a satirical side of Psycho. So I’ll subscribe cuz i want to watch more RED VELVET reactions from you. Irene and Seulgi are the main dancers of redvelvet so i hope you react to them too. Tnx
As many were recommending Naughty by Red Velvet's subunit Irene & Seulgi. I on the other hand would recommend their title track, Monster, to you because it has lots of interesting imagery and somehow the whole choreography alone tells the story of the song. Almost lyrical which is rare in kpop. Choreographer was Janelle Ginestra :) P.S. I watched your reaction to Taemin's IDEA and in Monster the dancers are not just "extra" or "back up" to the choreography, but an integral part of the overall dance :)
Red Velvet is really different from the others, in terms of vocals and dance, they have their own concept and they are recognized as representatives of kpop 💗💛💙💚💜
Can you react to Sunmi's 'Tail' MV and its dance video on Studio Choom if you have time! I bet you would like her. She is a soloist and she really focuses on her dance performances. Thank you
So this is a comment I find explaining accurately what is going on in the MV 😅: Basically in psycho, people may think that Joy (girl with black bangs) may be the evil one, but it's lrene (the original visual hehe). In the beginning to the bridge, you see that Joy is trying to "wake" the members and acknowledge that Irene is basically a puppet master. Irene starts to lose her control over the members as the members break out of their spell and start rebelling, but the butterfly mirror means that Irene has taken over again and in the ending where they dance with the dresses, they are basically revolving around Irene which means Irene has taken over again and is in control.
I didn’t even realize that at all-the marriage dresses you mentioned! And I’ve seen this video so many times and love the song and didn’t realize they were looking at wedding dresses 💀 makes me realize the video is even better than I already thought! 100000/10
"the girl in the middle..." is seulgi and she is the main dancer and lead vocal; the one who sings "im original visual" is irene and she's the visual, rapper, center and leader of the group; the girl who sings the highest note is wendy and she's the main vocalist also dubbed as one of the smartest idol in kpop; the tallest one with unique vocal tone/clear singing voice is joy aka sexy dynamite; and last but not the least is our maknae yeri a sub vocal and rapper as well
this was choreographed by women; bailey sok and mina myoung. they always had the same 'K' guy choreographer before 😔 so the choreo would be diff with their other songs. red velvet is known for great vocals and amazing discography. they don't have lots of dance practices bcs their company simply hates them, and that's one of the reasons why they're underestimated for their skills in dancing. irene and seulgi 'monster' and 'naughty' shook people bcs of their crazy choreo, so pls do check them out! (they have dance practice/performance for this) live stages wouldn't do justice to their dance skills since they need to be stable while singing, but if you're interested to react to their dancing, it'll be good enough i believe. they have 3 dance practices released, you can check them out too! my other fav songs of red velvet are 'peek-a-boo' and 'dumb dumb'. and sorry for the long msg lol love your reaction a lot, subscribed! ❤
OMG I LOVE IT! the part where you said about the hands moves... pleaseeeeee react to the dance practice of naughty by Irene and Seulgi of Red Velvet, you will loveeee it, it is amazing
"If someone a 100% bad is no gonna be hard to leave them. and if someone is good and bad, is difficult because u gonna be focusing on that thing" It's really related to many people's relationships.
MAMAMOO - AYA [RBW Entertaiment] TWICE - I CAN'T STOP ME [JYP Entertaiment] GFRIEND - MAGO [Source Music Entertaiment in 2021 on HYBE] ITZY - NOT SHY [JYP Entertaiment] DREAMCATCHER - ODD EYE [Happy Face Entertaiment] With Red Velvet & BLACKPINK Enjoy the Dance.......
I recommend you Irene and Seulgi (Red Velvet): Monster and Naughty. Twice has very good Choreography too. Very synchronized. Cry for Me (coreo 2) and I Can't Stop Me.(sorry for my English)
I'm glad you picked up on the funny/campy side to this song. Its a very prominent vibe from red velvet and I love them for it. They aren't afraid to be a bit silly or cheesy with their songs and even their mvs. Almost all of their mvs before psycho era are extra campy/fun and its so refreshing. Should definitely check out peek-a-boo
Please react to SEVENTEEN they are a group of 13 dancers and their songs are both writen and choreographed by members of the group. They are one of the most synchronized kpop groups at the moment and they all are fantastic dancers.
