Kai is really one of a kind. His whole existence is captivating. He has handpicked his dancers in order to match his dance and they adore him. They have the chance to shine through him.
Kai is pretty well known for his contemporary dances due to his background in ballet and jazz. This is one of the rare times he's doing hip hop for a solo perf. During the times when most of kpop does hip-hop and trendy dances during solos, he surprised everyone by performing a contemporary. I highly recommend ICU uploaded in Shimworld's channel and his deep breath performance in MAMA 2014. Also his baby don't cry water dance.
ICU, Deep breath and Baby don't cry are my favourite dance performance. (The list is increasing bcz of Kai) And that's the reason why I am mesmerized by him.
From head to toe, the control he has is stunning. But yes, it is his expression and communication through movement that just grabs me. Even with the mask, even in a massive stadium, whether live performance or video, he always gives eye contact, character and energy to his performance. He connects with an audience. Legend
Kai was classically trained. He started ballet and jazz when he was 8. You should watch his ICU (Awakening) performance, preferably from the ShimWorld channel. He's a pretty versatile dancer!

kai really did a good job in choosing those dancers.. finally the dancers who can keep up with him.. they're all so good. So that's why there's no backup dancers tht got left out. Bcs they're at the same level.
The thing about this song is Kai has to sing while dancing. It' s crazy for me, even after seeing him doing the same with Exo lots of times but no Exo song has a choreo this fast that I remember. King Kai indeed.
Its so amazing that kai learnt this choreo in a rush..even the choreographer for this dance which were vata and badalee said this choreo is rly hard..and they impressed with kai..bcs he got to learn this in a really short time and slay it

I think one reason why Kai's form is so good is because he originally started out as a ballet dancer. So he learned form and technique first before any other style of dance. That is why you can see such precision in his dancing. As a child he fell in love with dancing after seeing the Nutcracker and he told his parents that he wanted to do that. So, his whole fondation with dance began with ballet. But what you are seeing is the whole reason why Kai is considered one of the top two dancers in the industry, because there is pretty much no style of dance that he can't do, and he does it better than almost everyone. SM is known for having some of the best dancers and singers in the industry. That is just a fact about the type of people it selects to be a part of the company. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing singing and dance skills. So even the company's rappers are unbelievable singers and dancers. All of SM's rappers were first chosen to become trainees for their vocal and/or dance skills. It wasn't until after joining the company that they learned to rap. So that is why SM's artists are known as some of the best vocalists and dancers in the industry -- being great rappers is just a bonus. SM is known for cultivating some of the best singers and dancers in Kpop. That is why it has gained the reputation as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. When it comes to SM this is just the skill level we have come to expect. The more you see from SM's top artists and groups, you might even start to recognize some of the backup dancers. Because there are only a select few people that can keep up with people like Kai and Taemin, and match their dance style and precision. So, when SM finds dancers that are exceptional, they hold on to them for as long as they can and they use them in almost everything. Also, several of the dancers are also choreographers -- and many times the choreographers who choreograph the dances are also one of the dancers -- so their skill level is far beyond the average dancer. The dancers you see in Kai's and Taemin's MVs are usually most of the same dancers they use for concerts and live performances. They are SM dancers, which means they are used as backup dancers in a lot of SM's other groups' projects as well. Most of Kai's dancers are also Taemin's dancers and some have also been Super Junior's and TVXQ's dancers, for example.

i think because he’s an idol he became comfortable with hip hop style dancing but his background is in contemporary/jazz/ballet which we get to see a lot of when he does solo routines. You should react to his “I see u”choreography video it shows his more classical training, it’s amazing how he’s such a balanced dancer.

This is amazing to see because hiphop is not his comfort/usual genre. Kai was trained in classical ballet and jazz and you can see this reflected in his earlier solo work in concert performances which leaned towards contemporary dance. The choreographer Bada Lee mentioned in an interview that Reason's choreo was hard for Kai and she appreciated Kai's discipline and learned from him after seeing him learn it.
KAI's Solo debut album is fantastic, I love watching him perform, just like I love watching TAEMIN. You should react to SuperM, known as the Avengers of Kpop, as it is a supergroup made up of members from different SM Entertainment groups, Kai and Baekhyun from Exo, Taemin from Shinee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT 127, Ten and Lucas from WayV. React to Jopping first, then One and Tiger Inside, these are mind blowing for choreography, vocal and rap, visuals and the videos are insane.

He'd prob be annoying and say he doesn't have one because he likes everything haha. I love how he's completely covered head to toe in this though, but you can still tell he's having the best time. According to one of the other comments he was asked that recently, and apparently you are going to be annoyed because he answered that he's not picky. I figured he would say something like that too. I think he just loves anything dance. He loves to dance, and any chance he gets to do it, no matter what style it is, he loves life.

He was voted many times and this year again by 100 idols of Kpop (like real idols) themselves to be the NO.1 dancer in Kpop. I think everyone has different set of techniques and some people think even in EXO, Lay (the other incredible dancer you should check him out) is a bette dancer, but for me, Kai has that confidence and elegance I don’t see anywhere else. He learned ballet since 6 years old and became a trainer in 12 and debuted in EXO at 18.
