Winwin is trained to traditional Chinese dancing and it has similarities to ballet in some ways, it has the same body lines and grace to it so that explains his fluidity, ten did learn ballet when he was younger.
Fam really said "it's like watching my favorite movie... it's like me watching Shrek 2" and then went on to talk so eloquently about the choreography, the duality is real in this one 😂😂

I'm surprised that he didn't notice how in the end they switched sides because ten was originally the healthy tree but at the end ten was the on the dead trees side and winwin was on the healthy side which slightly contradicts because winwin is dressed in black so you'd assume he was the dead tree that ten was trying to fight against but in the end winwin was actually the healthy one and ten was the dead and hurting one
Winwin is trained in Traditional Chinese Dance (he graduate from top academy school in China) which is kinda similar to contemporary dance but he knows how to to a lot of stunt like backflip and he's super flexible and also if you notice he's posture and shape is very good in every frame.
you can watch the process of it in RainbowV! it's fun to see how they build this choreo and also the performance fun fact: ten and winwin never exclusively learn contemporary. ten's basic is hiphop and winwin's is chinese traditional dance funfact: ten also fond of shrek movie and assigned his teammates their shrek role lol
if thats the case, this says more about their work ethic throughout the process and their affinity for dance. they're true dancers that appreciate all styles!
I'm not quite sure but since my speciality is overthinking I think the story behind the dance could be death trying to take control.(Death being the bare tree and life being the evergreen tree) We can see that life and death are similar to each other. But death and life want to have individual personalities. So they clash. They try and try to be overpowering or more powerful than the other. But without each other balance is off. Its like ying an yang. They both co exist for each other. Life is a beautiful lie and death is a painful truth so we tell lies to hide the truth because sometimes the lie is better. At the end of the video we see that they both finally agree to co operate. I wish i could think like this in my exams..

They both have close to zero comtemporary background. WinWin mastered Traditional Chinese Dances, which is kinda close to contemporary, Ten studied a lot of styles and comes from gymnastic training (he incorporated some elements of contemporary in his previous choreos, like in Dream in a Dream or in his Hit the Stage choreos, for example). As they said, it's up to us to decide what this dance represents, but they thought about smth like WinWin is bad person and Ten is good person, but Ten good person who is very weak and WinWin is a bad person who is very strong bcuz in the real world many good things can easily get affected by something bad. In the end, it's okay to understand the entire thing in our own way. From my POV, it's about good and bad exist in everybody, but there's no pure "bad" or pure "good", more like yin yang. If you look closer, WinWin's wearing dark close and has dead half of the tree on his side but at the same time he has big big window on his side as well while Ten's wearing white and has healthy half of the tree on his side but no big window (light in the dark and dark in the light kinda thing). They fight, overpower each other from time to time but in the end they are the same and they are in peace. You can see the tree being united and linked by red thread (red thread is a symbol of fate in Chinese culture if I'm not mistaken). So it's kinda about dark and light being the sides of the same coin, being unseparable and existing together. Yin Yang in all its glory.
One thing I noticed in the video that you overlooked, when they were doing the mirror scene. Winwin went for the throat while ten was grabbing his shoulder. The differences in the "aggressiveness" really shows a lot because it continues throughout the song. He's constantly grabbing the throat in a controlling way while ten isn't, and the facial expressions matches it.
In Hiphop type of dances Winwin doesn't shined that much cuz it's not his style but still doing his best. I recommend next is Ten's "New Heroes" or "Dream in a Dream" it's a chef's kiss.
After watched your reaction, I gave all my respect to all dancers out there. Maybe bcause I'm not the dancer, I watched the video with empty heart not understanding the stories and it just a perfomance. It's great representation of Yin Yang or Persona struggle with Shadow till they stop fighting and embrace their other part of oneself. Ten is incredible dance but he mention on the making MV that he actually learned a lot from Winwin since he actually is trained for this type of dance. They posture of Winwin is just gorgeous and romantic
I remember someone saying that at the end when Ten and Winwin switch places, Ten seems hurt with the leafless tree,, while Winwin seems strong with the full tree and it seems like Winwin is comforting Ten and that the things we deem as bad may not be bad for ourselves, they may be more like something that saves us kinda like how Winwin was comforting Ten. I forgot where I read this haha 😅😅 At 3:55 it looks like Ten is reaching for something that he can't obtain while Winwin looks like he's in conflict with himself, kinda like he wants to express himself differently than he can or people expect of him? Idk 😅😅 at 3:28 I've always wondered if there was significance to Winwin's hand being over Ten even if Ten is pushing Winwin down, maybe symbolizing that even if you try to "drown or forget" your bad side it'll always have some influence over you and until you learn to accept it (like the end) you'll finally be whole (like the trees) Also the red string connecting the tree might be like your "good" and "bad" side are fated/destined to be together (like the red string theory) I think I might be delving too deep though hahaha 😅
I think you should watch NCT DREAM rehearsals they are so synced to the point where you can hear their steps especially "We Go Up" "1,2,3" and "Chewing Gum"
