Dances by Isadora Teaching Focus Videos Duncan
Francesca Todesco explores the Duncan waltz as a novel exemplar of Isadora’s interpretation of music. The Duncan waltz has a “circular” flow and organic quality, in particular the use of the hips and the slight irregular rhythm in the 2-3 beats. Duncan waltzing follows the score with its pulses and patterns with lower body setting the rhythm and the upper body interpreting the gestural flow.
These teaching focus videos were created as a response to the shift of all dance learning being online in Spring 2020. Duncan teachers created them in their homes to share the unique elements of the Duncan technique.
