New production of Brian Friel's 1990 memory play about five unmarried sisters and the events that break up their family. Does it still seem like a masterpiece 30 years later? How well does director Josie Rourke cope with presenting an intimate play on the huge Olivier stage? Do Siobhan McSweeney and Louisa Harland from Derry Girls perform well on stage?
The production also stars Blaithin Mac Gabhann, Justine Mitchell, Ardal; O'Hanlan, Alison Oliver, Tom Riley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor. The design is by Robert Jones.
Dancing At Lughnasa was performed at the National Theatre during April and May 2023.
Production photos used in this video are by Johan Persson.
Paul was given a review ticket by the producer.
