I loved the magic trick he did at the start, when it got into the dancing, I thought he did the backward crossovers quite well, as Torvill and Dean pointed out. The content was great but I feel Carlotta can push Ben even more so we will be able to see more of his skating abilities, but a good job overall. My score: 5.0/10
It seems like the standard is really high this year. But why is it that when Antony Cotton had a rib injury in his year the judges brought it up and praised him for carrying on despite it, yet with Ben Hanlin there was no mention of it? Seems a bit rude to not bring it up.
The standard is very high this year. Last year, the second best score on the first show was 20.5. Two years ago, the best score of the first show was 20.5. This year, the second _worst_ score of this first show was 21.5. Yes, Jason being replaced helped a bit, but even if you ignore Jason's scores, there's still a marked improvement in the scores given. Though maybe next week has all the Todd Cartys...
