My dear,EVERYONE who saw it will remember Donald's jaw-dropping,eye-popping 3-person Jive!And his magnificent Viennese Waltz during Week 7.And his astounding 1st Argentine Tango in Week 5.And his graceful,spry,delightfully elegant Quickstep in just the 2nd show of the season!And his mesmerizing Paso in Week 4. And his Get-Up-Out-Of-Your-Seat-Even-If-You're-At-Home Freestyle that he helped choreograph himself.Gilles Marini was wonderful.So is Donald Driver! & Katherine and William are good.
Katherine in an interview in London during Queen's Jubilee mentioned that she sprained her ankle on GMA!? I came back here to re-view this dance and I see when that happened=@55 or 56 when she stumbles during flicks. Totally out of character for her to loose balance like that. I remember notiing it during live viewing but never knew she hurt her ankle. Typically she "carried on" as if nothing had happened. Gotta luv this marvelous adorable girl.
Well everyone knows that Donald could/should have gotten all 10's (instead of just one 10) for his jaw-droppingly good 3-person Jive, for his thrilling 1st Argentine Tango in Week 5, and for his magnificent Viennese Waltz during Classical Week. Donald's graceful, spry, delightfully elegant Quickstep in just the 2nd show of the season showed he was the man to beat. No one ever did.
One judge was man enough to publicly apologize to Donald for underscoring him. That happened in the 2nd week when the judges were giving their critiques of Donald's graceful, spry, delightfully elegant Quickstep. They all underscored him and KEPT on underscoring him for some amazingly good performances. But deep in their hearts they knew Donald was the most consistently exciting dancer, which is why they requested more Encore performances (3) from Donald than from any other celeb this season!
Oh,I almost forgot yet another of your "misstatements!" Donald Driver performed many more than a few exciting dances! In just the 2nd week, Donald turned in a delightfully elegant,surprisingly graceful,yet spry Quickstep! Donald went on to perform thrilling Tangos in Weeks 5 &10, a magnificent Viennese Waltz in Week 7, a mesmerizing Paso Doble in Week 4, an eye-popping 3-person Jive, a jaw-dropping Freestyle, and a sensationally sensual Finals Cha Cha! His other dances were relatively good, too!
Hi Katy, I mentioned Mark's error earlier.And thank you for answering my question.The mistakes happen BEFORE the "injuries." I was concerned when I saw Katherine slip on GMA.I imagine the mistake happened before the injury there as well. I know K&M were comfortable with the Jive,but it seems like a risky dance to do on a new surface on little sleep.Donald and Peta were smart to keep it simple.Then again, Katherine can still sing in a full body cast,but Donald couldn't play football in one!
Katherine and Mark are good! But Donald deserved to win. Go back and look at Donald's graceful, spry, elegant, delightful Quickstep in just the 2nd show of the season! Donald was always the man to beat. No one did! And if you like Katherine's and Mark's great jive, you'll love Donald's jaw-dropping jive with THREE people instead of just two! :-)
For the debate about who "shoulda won"... I can say this f'sure. Next year, I doubt I will remember who won this season. or their dances. BUT I know f'sure I will remember all of Katherine's dances for the rest of my life... well maybe not that dreadful choreography in the 1st Paso Doble but all the others are engraved in memory. Same is true for me vav Gilles Marini's work with Cheryl B a few seasons ago. Rare celebs... both of them. Grateful to both of them for the delights.
Mark is a good dancer and choreographer and Katherine's a good dancer too, but they did not have the demands on their time that the actual winners did. Donald looked particularly weary. Wonder whether his and his wife's new little baby was up during the night, too-- she appeared to have a little cold during the show's celebration after Donald and Peta's win was announced. Donald is such a good husband and father. He moved his entire family from Wisconsin to LA for this DWTS season.
They didn't have the demands on their time that WINNERS,Donald and Peta, did.& Donald,because the judges (& everyone else) wanted to see his amazing Freestyle again,had to dance the Encore dance the night before in ADDITION to ANOTHER dance all the finalists had to compete against one another with!So Donald danced TWO dances the night before -including his high-energy Freestyle,but William and Katherine only had to dance ONE dance that night.No wonder Donald looked weary(tho still good-humored)!
it's too bad that DWTS is about 50% popularity (Votes) and only 50% dancing talent (judges scores). I remember Sabrina Brian from an earlier season who was booted out because she doesn't have enough votes, but she was clearly the best dancer of them all. Similar situation had happened in season 14.
?! "Animosity?"Not at all.I thoroughly enjoyed Katherine's performances.& I've seen the rehearsals.Carrie Ann,one of the judges,a longtime dancer herself,made note of Katherine's "dancer's legs." Many girls take ballet.It's not ballroom,but Peta,the pro who danced with Donald,danced ballet before getting into ballroom.She'd only been in ballroom a few months when she won her 1st competition! It's"perturbing" when Kat's fans pretend Donald"only" won bcuz of football,when he became a GREAT dancer!

Yes, in her DWTS Salsa K tweeked her back into a spasm and nearly fell on her head. Mark's hands to her back prevented further #2 injury. If you check video closely and do a stop action, you will see that Mark's leg snags Katherine's leg as her jumps over her. He didn't clear her leg nearest the camera and K was pushed off balance.Katherine is not a person who would press this point on Mark in public but if you take the time to check it you will see what I mean. Ergo "out of character".
Wow, you sure like spamming the board with the same message! For the record, Donald was at times flat-footed, at others unbalanced. Three or four dances of his were exciting, while seven or eight of Katherine's were exciting. Out of sixteen regular and team performances, she had the highest score on eleven of them (68.75%). It's simply the dim American public that keeps voting for footballers.
Wow! Ur animosity toward KJ is astounding. And Ur dead wrong re her having "years of dance training" She got some directions from the choreographers on tour shows BUT no training. She just makes it look as if she had. Check out KJ & M's rehearsals. U'll see.She makes beginners mistakes. What she has is hard work, commitment 2 excellece, focus, body awareness, muscle memory of the highest level, & a lifelong rep for perfectionism. She's gifted! Jst accept it. Be happy.
America doesnt seam to know how to vote.Katherine definatly was the best dancer and the judges are also .She was on the top of the leaderboard most of the time and in the finals .She was suppose to win
Katherine fell completely out of a move,stopping her performances cold. William's Jive was a disaster.Only Donald never made glaring mistakes that threw his timing off-track or marred the performance to the point that it stopped.Donald was magnificent all season long. In Week 4 when William turned in a debacle of a Jive,Donald was asked to perform the season's 1st Encore dance.When William danced well,Donald danced well.When William danced poorly,Donald STILL danced well! The right person won!

So clearly the "scoring" is suspect! The other 2 judges gave Donald the same ridiculously low score.Len was man enough to apologize. But he continued to underscore Donald.Go back to their comments after Donald's wonderful Quickstep & hear Len's apology for yourself.Donald was asked for more Encores than anyone else!
Still,it marred the dance.Interesting that some people said Mark made a misstep and hit her leg.Some think the "back spasm" was just a cover to keep from blaming Mark.Mark's a great pro,but he's human.I remember Derek,another marvelous pro,getting his foot caught in a partner's dress and falling to the floor.Donald's foot got caught in Peta's frou frou hem,but his sure-footedness and strength kept him from falling.Amazing that Donald,with all those lifts,never let pain pull him out of the dance.
Ou8y2k2, and finally, to address your "dim American public that keeps voting for footballers," crack. Perhaps you are unaware that OTHER great athletes have WON on the show. Three OLYMPIC Gold medalists, a speedskater, Apolo Ohno, a figure skater,Kristi Yamaguchi, and a gymnast, Shawn Johnson ALL won as well. Was it because of alleged "huge fan bases?" Or is something else at play,too? Mainly that ATHLETES, when they apply themselves to an ATHLETIC endeavor like dance, can become great at it!
Oh, lest I forget:"Unbalanced?!"The PRO,Mark,safely "balanced" Katherine on his shoulder, but watch NONprofessional dancer,Donald,put Peta OVER his HEAD in their Finals Tango --and watch Donald KEEP TIME with the beat with his feet while he does it! Dance is more than a sum of its parts.While Katherine clearly had years of formal dance training ( and I enjoyed her performances),Donald was CONSISTENTLY the more exciting performer.Compare their 3-person dances!Look at Donald's Viennese Waltz, etc.
Hey, have you heard of "FlamaDance" (just google it)? There you can watch a nice free video demonstrating the way to dance Rhumba, Samba, Tango, Waltz, FoxTrot, Jive, Salsa, Cha Cha. This is why Scot figured out how to dance just like a star very fast and so even restore romance. Perhaps it will help you out too...
Why does he always try and out shine his partners. Maybe that's why they lost because it was more of an individual thing. I think after certain pros win to many trophies they become to big ego minded individuals.
That's true.Sabrina was booted precisely BECAUSE people whined that she'd had dance training.Something similar happened to Roshon Fegan this season,I believe. Strange that some people are attacked for that but others aren't.Katherine clearly had years of formal dance training.Mel B. had not nearly that degree of formal training,but some people whined that they'd seen her doing hip hop moves while singing in videos! As if that had anything to do with ballroom!They did the same thing to Mya.
