I've noticed these while reading the series and always wondered if Dandadan fans knew enough to recognize all the references. There are a TON and they always make me smile. I'm glad the series is written by such a passionate nerd. His knowledge and passion definitely show with every panel!

American artists don't. They destroy, like Batman is all about surveillance statism to diarrhea all over Zorro and The Shadow and Scarlet Pimpernel. Bat "family" makes the same point that USA has Bureau of Indian Affairs, and family of the sons of Jacob should have a Bureau of Palestianian Affairs. That's how 700 000 000 million people with their own federations on America are called "non-Americans" by the US federation, after Italian name of Americo Vespucci and Roman name of Palestine.

right?? i always love seeing the colours he gives the characters vs what i imagined. like Momo’s powers are actually green as seen on the Volume 14 , but i always imagined them as a light orange. loll

a reason i love dandadan is the sense of nostalgia i get from every character that references a tokusatsu character, tokusatsu was literally my childhood. I loved ultra-man and Kamen Rider a lot as a lil japanese boy, I was obsessed with tokusatsu (especially kamen rider) getting so much merch of them, I had gotten many kamen rider belts and i still fondly remember getting a kamen rider belt at toys-r-us for Christmas and getting a extra thing for my belt which was from a campaign that was running at the time and how happy i felt after getting it

aw that’s awesome! that’s cool that you get that nostalgic feeling from dandadan. i wish i gave them a chance growing up. But now , especially after learning more about ultraman, want to give one a shot. What do you think i should try? Kamen Rider?

@@rauwro i would think of going with kamen rider, i don't remember anything but i remember really liking kamen rider W (he has a cool concept of 2 people in 1 body)

Dadadan invokes the yokai/spirit side with very classic japanese spirits and stories so draws equally on japanese scifi which for most will start with Ultraman and kaijus

It makes a lot of sense that dandadan is called what it is because it is dadaism or dada art with the amount of references to other media

Actually, at 5:53 , the design of the Kaiju is more towards 1966's Neronga who appeared in episode 3, made more obvious because of the double horns.

I always felt while reading Dandadan that I'd seen some designs, or aspects of them, before. This video is just what I needed, thanks. Also, your editing skills seem to be getting better and better with each video, keep it up!

Just started reading this last night and thought the creatures looked familiar. Glad I was right that they were based on Ultra Q and Ultraman with a hint of Shin Godzilla (the nessie creature totally had Shin's head)

First if you could comment and pin that video I think a lot of people would be interested to watch it but thats just a suggestion. Second this is a reeaaaaaaallly cool video I'm probably gonna watch it 5 or more times through this week. Third maybe I'm just a huge Tatsu simp but I think its amazing to take concepts from other people and be inspired by it so it impresses me that he does it, plus he just makes it look oh so good
