O watched this vídeo when you posted. I Never forget, o dont know why, but this vídeo represents the art of surfing, the details in this movements are perfect. Music, surfers, and also, simple perfect. Thank you and god bless
master piece! make me feel the good vibe of surf. its kind of in the wave feeling. btw, this heat was so genious that don't even look as final... this looks like FREE SURF
one board i've been wishing i had for a while is the rusty stealth quad. you can get it in a variety of sizes, and it has the thickness, but also is a high performance board. i've never been able to find one, but if you can, that's a good option
yea that was really cool man! you see so much of their movements slowed down!nice Dane was so under scored on that wave with the back three.not that it wouldve made a difference, but still.
yeah i actually own the SUPERbrand Slug, Dion's groveler of choice, and i dosurf better on it than on some other grovelers, but it didn't make a huge difference. Sorta just a style switch. but yeah, a nice board is always a good investment. My Slug was like $650 and it was totally worth it. What kind are you looking at?
ok. I'm thinking a fish hybrid, I'm pretty bulky, I used to play high contact sports (ice-hockey, boxing), and I'm 103kgs-that's 230pounds. But I don't look it, when I started surfing, shop owners estimated my weight around 85 kgs...so I always got a small-ass board...and I just thought it'd be better to get a small board cause it'll maneuver better. I tried a rusty that one time, it was awesome, I'm just wondering whether I should get thickness or high performance, or both...living inland ATM
mick has to be competitive its his job! he gets paid to win events plus who wouldn't want to be number one in the world twice? when there guys on tour like slates, taj, jordy, dane, owen etc he wouldn't stand a chance if he wasn't super competitive. and he has got style, his style is powerful hacks and super speed, its just stylish in a different way i guess!
I don't have the money. Trust me, I would. But I've never seen their type of board on sale for the public. Except at surfing events, but with big dings in them.
that's not even necessarily true. i've seen kelly's whip and tangent, dane's neck beard and dumpster diver, burrow's board (i forgot the name), knox's fort know, and numerous other boards they ride in shops
@itsmyturn The video isn't misleading. It shows dane falling twice and being greatly outmaneuvered by Mick. Anyone who thinks Dane should've won is just silly/blind. Dane rules, but he blew it here with the exception the wave with the air reverse (even though I think wave choice was bad there, the face wasn't as nice as any of the waves Mick chose.).
Really? ok, well, I'm keepin an open mind...need more info though... I'm definitely saving up for a 700$ board next time I buy one, and see how it goes. Have you ever tried a high performance board yourself?
I'm not convinced. Maybe Dane rides awesome on a bad board, maybe they all do, but I suspect you need to do most of your surfing on a perfect board to be that good. I mean you can't even buy their boards in shops, that's an eye opener...
i was there for this heat. dane kicked back way to much...micky was catching everything that came in..which wasn't much. sets were way too inconsistent i remember. dane kept sitting and waiting for that bigger one to come in and i can't remember if it came in or not...whatever though...this is why surf contests holds little weight for me. the outcome isn't indicative of how much better dane is than mick...but that's surf contests for you.
I do not think so. Dane has not won 1 ASP WCT tour event. Mick Fanning is a 2 time world champion. The best surfer is the one that throws the most spray - especially vertical spray. Dane maneuvers are weak, Mick threw more water in one move than Dane did that entire heat.
it's not the board dude, i bought a 900 dollar chilli board, which is the same one ridden by the team riders, it makes a difference.... but not one like an experienced surfing becoming pro
and to everyone who says dane shoulda won...how misleading a video can be huh...watch the entire heat live. i'm a big fan of danes surfing but he didn't do jack much of anything. he sat on his board for like 20 minutes and even let a big set go by
i was being somewhat facetious, if you were good enough to get on the CT, you would be on it. Dane made his own board which completely sucked and he still killed it on it. it's not the board, it's the rider. give them some respect. i don't like how the industry has taken over either, but if it weren't for amazing riders, there would be no industry.
yeah, give those boards to any surfer and he'll rip like that or even better. I'm disgusted at how the surfing industry's just a putrid business. I surfed the same waves as Mick and Parko once and I was not impressed. I even snaked a few waves off em. Another time this kook on the gold coast asked me to try his 700$ board and I ripped the waves to bits. These boards here look magic. Just look at who or what's doin all the work.
