For $128, nothing should break or disintegrate no matter what. I’d rather have durability than a funky construction. And it would be great if their shadows were interchangeable so you could make custom palettes with mattes . . . Especially for travel. I did buy it, but you are right, the brand needs to do some overall pre-planning before the next launch.
I am not even through, but WOW I also was soo certain when I saw this that the groundworks pans would fit in there. I have none of the three palettes and no desire to get them but my god what a missed opportunity lol.
Nobody I would trust more to talk about this than our multichrome queen Milly ❤ thank you so much for sharing your opinions. Your looks were beautiful and well I can definitely say this is gonna be another pass for me. I still haven’t written off trying her multichromes or other products but I already have so many from indie brands that I love. Plus I hardly ever use satin eyeshadow, but I agree with your points on the packaging. I definitely wish that they had been broken up. I probably would’ve bought a 6 pan if I had the option to or especially if I could’ve chosen my own eyeshadows, those iridescents do look beautiful. I also liked hearing your descriptions of them versus what the brand had to say haha. You always know your shit when it comes to shifts, shine, texture and sparkly shadow anything so I always appreciate getting to see your content on different products out there. You’ve never steered me wrong. I definitely want to try the brand sometime, maybe I’ll start small with a thing of chrome flakes. Been wanting the bi pride shade for forever now haha, that one’s perfect for me! But for now I’ll skip the big palettes. Would love to have tried some of the older ones but I was too broke back then haha. Thank you again for always giving us such helpful, real and informative content! I admire you so much, and you’re such an inspiration. I have so many of your looks screenshotted on my phone lmao! ❤❤❤
My friend bought it, and we were AGHAST that the Groundworks pans do not fit! Just whyyyyyy Danessa, why??? I have touched the satins and I hate them, I hate them so much 😂 They are complete opposite of everything I want from a satin: I want lightweight delicate pearlescent satins that glide effortlessly like mattes on a set primer. The mini stacked palettes is a great idea, and I really hope she comes out with singles or more sets. Otherwise, it feels very pointless.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this palette. I had a feeling some of the descriptions were off because I couldn’t tell the shift from swatches shared by the brand and everyone I had seen discuss it has brought up the packaging and not the claims. I ordered last year’s palette through Beauty Bay so hoping I enjoy that one 🤞
I think it's stunning and everything about it is great Yes you can't fit her groundwork pans in the smaller ones but they are magnetized and you can pop them out and put them in the large palette this came with so if you want to do that you can you just can't have it in a small compact size It has to go in the bigger pellet those came in but still can be done! 💜
I really needed this, thank you so much! I was never really interested in the DM Lightworks because I own many indie multichromes, but this one almost got me. I love customizable palettes and everyone got me convinced that this is so innovative but you are right with all of your points. Your videos are always helpful and I didn‘t skip the ads to support you ❤
Thank you so much for your thorough comparisons and detailed pros and cons. I ordered from DMB directly and should have mine before the end on this week. I truly hope that the shadows make it to Australia without cracking or damage. It's great to know that Viseart pans almost fit, is that the Pro size and the Etendu (same dimensions as Pro but 1.2g of product)? Many thanks❤️
Definitely the most reliable video on RU-vid for this palette as you KNOW other indie brands and have great comparisons. Love it milly. Will def not pick this up I got a baby on the way and SOOO many singles from indies 😂
Thank you for the effort put in . I love your reviews I’m glad the shadows are smooth. Smoothest shadows I have come across are viseart. Never crease , no fall out and my eyelids look ridiculously smooth. None of the other brands do that for me. I have a very large I shadow collection
It's true what you say, we don't need these tones because we already have them... but we will always buy them... everything has already been invented...
Thanks for your honest feedback. I will skip this palette as I was taken with the packaging initially but your insights have saved me from a useless impulse purchase.
I just don’t like how there is 500 different kind of multichromes. Like. Seriously. Iridescent. Duochrome. Multichrome. Topper. Satin. That should be it. Seriously. I don’t grasp all these fancy named formulas when they all come across as - multichromes - to me 🤷🏼♀️
I think the packaging is an upgrade from most brands.. but you bring up some amazing points. Thank you. The favoring of warmer shades in the pallet have me going in the direction of indie singles.. as usual.
You brought up such valid points, it didn’t even occur to me that the groundwork pans might have fit the rectangular pans. Definitely frustrating. I still think Danessa did bring something unique in terms of packaging for a holiday launch. I would think with how expensive custom packaging like this is, that she will probably release more in this type of packaging but then again Danessa does a lot of custom packaging and it never sees the light of day after the initial launch…
Exactly, I did not buy it, because I was hoping to combine my groundwork with this Lightwork. Missed oportunity indeed. There should be a DIN norm for pan sizes😂 Thx for explaning and sharing your thoughts.
I bought this on launch and I do love it but I keep mine in the arrangement sent with the color stories given because of continuity sake. I have the others so I like to stack them all together. This palette (to me) is one of her best because it has all the smooth shades. I don’t mind some flakes but I do agree I would liked to have seen a brown or copper brown shade in there too.
Great video 👍👍 you always bring up some really good points and that is always appreciated ❤ I'd be so upset with a broken shadow especially at that price range. Thanks for sharing 💙💛❤💚💜
I was collecting the Danessa palettes, but this one put an end to that. If you could mix all the palettes, or even just the groundwork palettes, it'd be a hard maybe... But I'm not paying $128 for the size/shades in this palette. I have a ton of indie special shades (also made in China) that I can use to make my own palettes. I get the idea behind the concept, but I think this palette is going to be for a certain consumer or super fan of Danessa. At least, that's my thoughts on it. Great video, thanks for the comparisons!
You made some excellent points! I have all the Lightworks palettes and wish at least one of them had shades that would fit into the Freedom palette. Why does the deepest eye shadow always fall and mess up the floor, never the light one. My Natasha Denona Biba palette the black shade is broken and a mess! Waiting for this to go on sale.
For some reason, the first look shows up muddy :( perhaps you received a dud batch of shades, given that one of them came busted already. Thanks for the review, I'm definitely less excited for this palette now and glad that I won't do the effort to pay extra 90 USD for shipping 😂😂😂
Jarmila, thank you so much for your video! I have been waiting for your thoughts on this palette since it came out (and since I found your channel). Do you know if Clionadh stained glass (rectangle) pans fit into the DM slots? 🌷
OMG. The blue shade seems so rough in your first look. Your look is nice. But with good shadows it would have been exceptional if you understand what I mean. You did a great job with the quality of that blue shadow.
Colourpop is the same way- the shadows come out of their palettes, but the individual shadows they sell do not fit in their produced palettes (must put them in an empty palette).
So… I commend you bring up the fact you cannot truly customize the palette because I thought this would be like Inglot’s freedom system, in which you purchase the palette (different sized palettes hold different amount of shades whether it’s eyeshadow, lipstick, and/or blush). When I realized that wasn’t the case, I was also hoping I could purchase just one of their mini palette with that system and then build upon that as they released other color stories. Just like with Natasha Denona’s eye and cheek palette, I would have to wait until they release way more shades that I can truly customize those pans.
I'm a sucker for build your own palettes, I was super tempted thinking the groundwork palettes would fit in the 6pan slots. Knowing they don't defeats the purpose for me so I'll be skipping it. Definitely a missed opportunity.
But whats the gain in volume when you stack all of the palettes? The top/bottom covers? And yes, i own none of the groundwork palettes but it's so annoying those don't fit in there...
This was the first DM palette that caught my attention and I was considering it, but after this review I don't think I'll get it. I'm not in the USA and my local Sephora doesn't carry the brand, so it would be going blindly with the formula... it's a pass for me.
I may skip this one. I really don’t like satins and it looks like 1/3 of the palette is and with all the shortcomings….. I’d definitely reach out to get your money back for that shade that fell out:
