Interesting note here...apparently Kodaka's taking a break, so that this MAY be the last Danganronpa game, depending on if it gets passed to a new writer. If that's the case, some of the dialogue regarding 'what the viewers want' has some interesting implications - if indeed this IS the last Danganronpa, that phrasing may be Kodaka's way of telling us "The canon ending is whichever one you want it to be". In which case, I'm sure all of us that got misty at all the Kaede/Shuichi FTEs and love hotel, Gonta in general, etc. etc. can breathe a sigh of relief. OR CAN WE? Damn you and your intentionally vague tomfoolery, Kodaka!

For a second i thought Tsumugi was gonna cockblock everyone and start the final trial again. lol Well at least we have a happy ending where nobody died! -but that is just a lie, right? nee-heehe-

I have two theories for this mode: 1-This is a prequel used so they could find the best characters dynamics and set up relationships, which could also set up rivalries and potential killers/victims. Most of the “canon” ships would’ve probably been formed here. So basically this heartwarming shit is setting up our killing game, which is pretty sad. 2-The story passes in a virtual reality. After DR loses most of its fanbase* looking for killing games, they ease up things a little by making this brand new 54th season all about friendship and love! Then they reset again and make the 55th season bringing back all DR1, SDR2 and NDRV3 characters (Ultimate Talent Development Plan). Since Team DR is a shady organization, can’t put it past them to kidnap previous participants and putting them in VR again. Or all characters are just AI’s, something that explains why everything was predicted from the start (except ch5 because Kokichi and Kaito. And ch6)

Plot twist: Rather than being set in an alternate timeline, this mode actually happened shortly after Shuichi and the other survivors put an end to the Danganronpa reality show. Following the decision to make a new show in Dangan Salmon Team, the producers decided to honor the previous show's final cast by bringing them all back through the use of the flashback light containing the group's base memories on a group of volunteering body doubles.

What if the bonus danganronpa games are the stories of what happened before there minds were wiped or this is the reality after they were done recording the danganronpa show.

So wait, how do you get this? If you have 10 in-game days to go through the FTEs and raise their affection to max, and you can apparently only have two events per day, how on Earth are you supposed to get them all? Or is it that you have to play through it multiple times, getting a different character each time?
