After 25 parts and 44 total eliminations only 4 characters remain to fight for the title of best written character in Danganronpa. See my community post from the same day this is posted for more.
W as usual, this finale is literal peak. I honestly think this was the best set of contenders for finale, these 4 truly are the goats of writing in DR. For me the only people who come close are Byakuya,Hajime and the despair queen herself ofc
My opinion on the debate between Chiaki and Nagito actually changed after I did my replay of the trilogy in November tbh, the two are incredibly in writing imo (obv) so I don't blame anyone for having Nagito > Chiaki
W video, But if I were evaluating the characters with all the material then, Comp Kyoko>=Kokichi>Nagito>Chiaki>Shuichi>Hajime, it is after my analysis of all the materials that I have now started to reread Kirigiri Sou that something may change😅
Oh, I advise you to read them, they show well the depth of Kyoko and Byakuya and their problems in life and much more, and the writing is a subjective thing, it all depends on how we study the characters, someone we can study well, someone not, for example, people tend to underestimate Kokichi, Kyoko and Byakuya in writing, although They are very good🤷🏻@@X12578
The Chiaki upset took me by complete surprise damn, underdog of the tournament for sure. Common Kokichi W though. Also one thing, can I ask how Kokichi got Narrative Impact over kyoko (since Kyoko basically carried THH), w tournament!
For sure, so my case for Kokichi taking Narrative Impact over Kyoko is in large part due to how he maneuvered throughout the game. Referring to the amount of thought that went into each chapter like with him adding the letters to Horse A in the early game and I don't think I need to explain how much control over the narrative he held within chapters 4 and 5 in particular. This is undercut a bit by the nature of V3 given the ending but I don't see that as too much of a detraction from what I said. I feel as though he had a more direct hand in V3's plot than Kyoko did in THH, however I do agree that Kyoko essentially but the THH cast on her back for those trials man. I can see the argument for her taking the point, plus she the GOAT fr 🗣🗣 Also should note, I think outside of her absolutely soloing the trials and investigation segments when the new areas opened up. In Kyoko's case I think it's important to mention her challenge to the mastermind when she got Makoto out of the trash dump after chapter 5. She directly had a hand in bringing THH to its conclusion using that logic. 🤔
@@X12578 the way I perceive it is that Kokichi's character is a lot more up to interpretation than Kyoko's. Hence, when it's possible for a character (like Kokichi) to have his own characterization lead to false conclusions (since there are multiple) whereas Kyoko is only ever characterized in the one way; her actions and motive make sense for her character throughout the series.
@@CantOverDoIt Makes sense, i think Kokichi since his characterization was mostly based on duality and with his actions up until the end all possibly being for 2 reasons and him being accepted as the embodiment of a lie because of that, is why. Also last question, but how did depth go to Kyoko.
@@X12578 Depth was >= for me but I slightly lean Kyoko in large part for the same reasons as characterization/chr. Building. The reader implicitly understands her motivations and by proxy her actions allowing for the reader to more easily be able to empathize with her and what she's doing. Where the waters start to get muddied a little imo is when discussing the differences between depth and complexity though and it's an interesting dichotomy to me. Where for me at least Kyoko barely takes depth whereas Kokichi steamrolls in complexity due to him being well- Him ☠️
I included the games and anime for this tourney (excluding LN spin offs) the Despair Arc in the Danganronpa 3 anime shows the backstory of the entire DR2 cast
