丹東元寶宋派八卦掌，有著鮮明特徵，其一瓦壟掌。 Dandong Yuanbao Song Pai Bagua Zhang has distinct characteristics, one of which is the "Walong Palm" (瓦壟掌).
即拇指外展四指併攏，虎口圓撐，掌心含空，掌背似瓦壟。
This involves extending the thumb outward while keeping the other four fingers together, rounding the tiger's mouth, with the palm containing emptiness and the back of the palm resembling like a Roof Tailes
其二行圈走圓。以練功人的身高為圓圈的直徑，走八步為一圈。 The second characteristic is walking in circles. Practitioners walk in circles with a diameter equal to their height, completing eight steps in one circle.
其三空三型兼備，即：「猴形」、「雞嗉」、「虎坐」。 The third characteristic is the combination of three empty & three shapes: "Monkey Shape," "Chicken Pecking," and "Tiger Sitting."
其四武功要素，平起平落、裡直外扣、行步如踏泥。前行如坐轎、出腳要磨脛、兩膝相扣、不可展襠。 The fourth involves essential martial elements: rising and falling evenly, inside straight and outside hooking, walking like stepping on mud. When moving forward, it's like sitting in a sedan chair, lifting the foot with the shin rubbing, both knees close together, and not opening the crotch.
其五內在要領，講究：爆發勁、扭勁、橫勁、寸勁、勁力沉、擰爭圓活。 The fifth focuses on internal principles, emphasizing explosive power, twisting power, horizontal power, inch power, sinking power, and the coordination of twisting and yielding to achieve roundness and agility.
丹東元寶宋派八卦掌，起源於清朝鹹豐年間（約1850年）的北京，該「八卦掌」創始人宋長榮，在繼承恩師董海川八卦掌的基礎上，逐漸發展演變成獨樹一幟的宋派八卦掌，距今150餘年歷史。宋派八卦掌第二代傳人趙彥榮上世紀1920年在丹東市“滿洲飯店”後面開設“彥榮武館”，從此宋派八卦掌在丹東得到傳承與發展。
丹東元寶宋派八卦掌由三個面向組成：一是八卦轉環掌，包括母掌的八大式;一轉環掌、二轉環掌、三轉環掌、四轉環掌、八穿掌（八絕掌）。二是八卦砲錘，包括一砲錘、二砲錘、三砲錘、四砲錘。第三是八卦轉環手（散手），掌法攻擊性強，表演精彩動人。
