Great video! You saved my laptop! I was wondering why it was looking uneven. I also didn't know you shouldn't leave laptops plugged in 24/7. Thank you for making the video!
It actually depends whether or not your battery can be left plugged in. More modern laptops bypass the battery complety when it has a full charge so the cells aren't worn out. Further more the max capacity they’re charged to aren't actually the PHYSICAL max capacity meaning they last longer for the same reason.
Thanks! That was me leaving the laptop continually plugged. This is how I ruined the 2nd battery. Am buying a new one to replace and will use your tips to preserve the life of the battery.
I wore out my old laptop's bat by using it like a desktop. A year or so later of heavy use and the touchpad was puffy and the edge of the machine was rounding out. Also the SSD decided to start having speed and reliability problems thereafter. The two aren't related but still, not a good time for that PC. Unless doing something for a long time that requires heavy power I don't ever keep a laptop plugged in longer than needed to a ful charge. Related: More machines should have replaceable cells. I miss my old Vaio from 2008. That had a detachable cell and I bought an extra. That one died for other reasons, but I always had a fresh battery. peace and good vid
Great video! I use this to show my colleagues and friends about battery swelling and how to tell etc. I love techy things like this (mainly for desktops however) but this is so interesting to me! Great stuff!
I had overheating issues with my laptop. Also, some of my bottom keys weren't working properly. Opened it up and the battery was swollen. Removed the battery and both problems were resolved.
When i got my Dell Precision 3520 (similar to the dell in the video) its battery was ever so slightly bulging from the metal plate on it's back and wasn't charging and was sucking all the energy from the laptop and making it go unstable So i obviously deemed it dead But i never trew it away, it just say where it wouldn't cause problems, and then recently i decided to go see if i could use its remaining charge to force a firmware update which requires a battery at atleast 40% charge, it didn't have 40% anymore and Infact, ubuntu didn't even detect a battery installed until there was only 7% remaining But then, when i decided to try and plug it in..., It just started charging like it was never bad to begin with, it literally just works, it makes me think it wasn't even swelling and it was just that someone tried to get in from the back of the battery
Thanks !! My HP looks like its battery doesn't exactly works anymore (started shutting down at 30%, then whenever it was unplugged and turned on for more than 3 minutes and now it stays at 5% when charged. The battery doesn't look swollen (if it's the long bar behind the pc and not something like in your video), the pc doesn't feels like it overheats and I unplug it when I'm not using it. I hope a battery change can fix the issue I was also checking if it was safe to use the old battery for the days before I get the new one
@@UbergeeksBiz ma friend , if i continue to use my laptop with swollen battery is any danger? ok you will say maybe that can explode but that is not 100% sure , yes?
had my laptop for about 4 years always used to keep it plugged in when i was using it then saw this and decided to stop it and only plug it in when it gets low battery am using a dell inspiron 3584 i feel like im fine but im paranoid that im not fine
You can't. A battery bulging cannot be reversed and you'll have to replace the battery. But depending on the model you can just remove and safely dispose of the battery and keep it perpetually plugged in during use. Make sure to follow local laws when disposing of the battery!
Mouse pad not working, not clicking, and something screen freezes. Is it worth still replacing the battery or it damaged other components? I always charge my laptop, always. You are right
is it okay to using it if laptop battery is slightly swollen like 25% swollen? I have my laptop for 4 years now an I just stopped using my battery since it's slightly swollen and I'm quite scared to just keep using it... I use my laptop 24/7 and my laptop on battery only last for 4 hours so i mostly used it plugged in..
Send it to a repair shop in a fireproof bag so they can remove it. It's going to get worse. They also will properly dispose of the battery for you. Even If you can't find a new battery for your laptop it is ok, you can just plug it in and use it once the battery is removed.
I removed the battery after i saw it swelling I kept it in a safe place... I m still looking for an ewaste center here in my area since there's not a lot here in Philippines especially in my area which I live in...
