The slightest variation has disastrous effects. Located on the route of cyclones, this archipelago made up of 322 islands is heavily hit; In February 2016, Hurricane Winston devastated certain villages, such as Koro. Fragmented, the territory is not spared from the rise in sea level which threatens homes. Additionally, ocean warming disrupts marine ecosystems. The corals are dying off. The displacement of populations who find themselves without a permanent place to live has serious social consequences.
