Dangerous Corner, written by J.B. Priestley in 1932, is a gripping British play exploring the complexities of truth and secrecy among a group of affluent friends. The story unfolds at the country house of Robert and Freda Caplan, who are entertaining guests from their publishing firm. The cast includes Robert Caplan, Freda Caplan, Gordon Whitehouse, Betty Whitehouse, Charles Stanton, Olwen Peel, and Maud Mockridge. The plot kicks off with the guests listening to a radio play, sparking a conversation about Martin Caplan's mysterious suicide and a missing £500 from the firm. An offhand remark by Olwen about a cigarette box she allegedly saw with Martin leads Robert to insist on uncovering the complete truth. This insistence spirals into explosive revelations of hidden relationships and dark secrets among the group. Key disclosures include Olwen's visit to Martin right before his death, Freda's affair with Martin, and Gordon's unreciprocated love for Martin. As tensions heighten, it’s revealed that Charles stole the money, and Olwen confesses that she inadvertently shot Martin in self-defense during a drug-induced rage. These admissions irrevocably damage the group's relationships and dismantle the firm. In a dramatic twist, after Robert threatens to shoot himself, the play resets to the same social gathering, with time reverted to before the fatal comment was made. This time, the dangerous truth remains undisclosed, leading the evening to conclude without conflict. Dangerous Corner masterfully plays with the concept of time and reality, illustrating how truth can irrevocably alter lives.

I really dislike that the images for so many of these channels (with great audio content!) are becoming weird yet homogeneous AI scenes.

99% of English people have never spoken like this .Only in the world of the BBC not in the real world. Did you ever here the accent of the play's author J B Priestley? A lovely warm Yorkshire voice .

Agree with you. I moved to England in 1992 and I was appalled at the way people spoke - it was not the accents that upset me but the basic ignorance of elementary grammar - literally people saying “I done it” or “I were” without affectation - just their normal language. Then around 2005 I met two ladies in their 80s in a not very genteel area of East Birmingham - they spoke beautifully. They had not had a first class education they had simply come through the primary and secondary school system of their day - their grammar and diction were music to my battered ears after years of being assaulted by younger generations who could barely string two words together. ❤❤
