I went to check out his work and just as I turned the corner he dropped a tree across the power line coming from the pole to the weather head . It shook the whole house almost tore the weather head away from the breaker box , instead of him turning it in on his contractors insurance my wife didn't want that but we had to turn it in on ours . I found out weeks later he had been on meth that was the reason she didn't want him to turn it in on his insurance !

It really can be a hard thing to think things through when there is a lack of experience on how to do so. Long enough lever and you can move the world concept: Rope to top of tree will be able to pull tree in direction you want it to go with only 1-3 people providing direct tension on it during cutting. Missing data: The enormous weight and inertia the multi ton tree trunk presents.

@@antoniokawarski6111 Maybe that is true in some cases, but with lack of education on just how dangerous the energy in a tree is, those who know they can drop a tree but are not educating themselves in the process set the stage. I know that having a home to live in does not mean they have the money to call in professionals. Also, I am aware that in the logging industry there is always a body count each year among the 'fellers'. It appears to be a trade learned by experience in many respects. I had two large trees on my little lot that were old majestic ones; a catalpa and soft maple. I contracted with a professional service to remove them. They did so from the top down each time. [The house was close by]. I note in the video some had professional rigs on. My assumption is either they did not think things through correctly, or the tree did something unexpected. Dangerous work. The difference between licensed professionals with liability insurance and DIY property owners who don’t know what they’re doing. Been there, done that, seen it all. It’s worth the money to pay a professional who comes with all the necessary equipment, tools and assistance to get the job done in a safe efficient manner.

2:54 that’s a tree you call the utility company for. Climbing something that close to a three phase is dangerous as hell. Better to just send a bucket truck over there.
@adamschaeffer4057
@adamschaeffer4057 2 года назад
That looks pretty close to the lines. A bucket truck can't be within 10' of a high voltage line. Looks like they are trying to do it right but whoever is cutting should have managed the delimbing better. If you got to rope each one no matter how small they are so they don't land on the lines well then you got to rope them.
@codywhittenton6144
@codywhittenton6144 2 года назад
@@adamschaeffer4057 where I work the minimum approach distance is 2ft 4 inches but it’s 10ft around transmission lines. We’d probably go up in a bucket, put a rope in it and cut it from the ground. Hard to tell how close it is from the video.
@hauntedshadowslegacy2826

AFAIK, some power companies work with arborists on jobs very close to power lines. If it's bad enough, some power companies will even temporarily shut down a portion of line to make it safer for everyone involved. Any tree removal service worth their salt is gonna call the power company of their own volition in such a situation.
@gainthesummit
@gainthesummit 2 года назад
What makes you think a bucket can reach there from street?
@gainthesummit
@gainthesummit 2 года назад
@@hauntedshadowslegacy2826 The power company contracts the work out to the tree company. It most cases it's simply not feasible to shut down a grid so the tree company can do line clearance. In this case, the tree company is liable ... their insurance would cover the cost to have the power restored
