Thank you!!! I am an 80 year old woman who has watched numerous videos to no avail. I have tried every thing. Finally you did it for me. Putting foot on door while pulling back also helped. I used fence pliers to pull it back enough to put down latches. Your video saved my day!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm a senior (latter 70's) and had removed and replaced the door myself before, but the hinges had not been sprung. This time they were sprung and I was unaware of the difference and tried unsuccessfully to replace the door. Goodness, it's heavy. After watching your video my husband and I together were able to position the door atop a large dining chair, pull and unlock both hinges (safely, keeping fingers totally away), using the tools you used and had success. Thank you, thank you, thank you again. Never going to do this myself until our younger able-bodied son or grandsons are around.
You are our hero! You saved us an afternoon of aggravation and injury! There seemingly was no easy way to put our oven door back on, and we were unaware of possible injury. You could have had a fractured phalange! Hope your thumb is fully healed. Thank you so much!
This is the most valuable RU-vid video I've watched. I found it AFTER I smashed my thumb (just like you), bled for awhile, cursed for awhile, yelled at my wife, kicked the dog and considered my options. Then I found you. Thank you so much for taking the time to produce the video!
Thank you so much, although my husband didn't get hurt, he was getting extremely frustrated. We watched other videos, and still no luck, until we watched yours, and seen that you had to open the hinge. Thanks again.
Thank you for this. It happened with my hinges and I damn near broke both thumbs. No where in any other videos I've watched does anyone say this might happen, and you're the only one I found who explains how to fix it.
Thank you I love you your You save me a lot of time I spent several hours to put my door back until I found your video Done and two minutes. Your are great.
Your video saved me from a ton of frustration! The latches on my door were in the wrong position and I had not realized how to go about addressing that. Yours was the only video I found that made it clear how to proceed. Thank you!!
Thank you for your video. It took me 2 days of fighting with my oven door, until I found your video. I was able to put it back on in a minute. Thanks again
Thanks for posting. I have a Frigidaire double wall oven which stopped working after being used only 3 times in 1 year, and 9 days after the manufacturer's warranty expired. I removed the doors according to the owner's manual but could not reinstall. Yours was the lone video showing the problem to be a sprung hinge. In trying to figure out the problem I called Frigidaire only to find out they do not have a Tech Help line. The representative offered to go to RU-vid. I really appreciate you posting this. No more Frigidaire appliances for me.
Once again you saved somebody else’s hand! Thank you for the video. My husband and I were both trying to figure this out and would have hurt ourselves if not for your video. We can’t thank you enough!
Thank you so much for your video! You saved me so much time and anger and added frustration. As soon as I watched your video, I had my oven door back on in 5 minutes. Bravo!!
Thank you thank you thank you! I just had one of the most frustrating days ever. This video saved the day. Hard to believe that engineers actually thought this design was ok. The sound when the hinge sprung was terrifying! Sorry about your injury. I hope it healed well.
Hello friend. I had the same injury on my thumb trying to remove the door on an old Kenmore gas range. I'm an automotive tech with decent mechanical skills and felt confident going into this job, but little did I know the door had to be 80% closed before lifting and pulling off the hook. It was a pretty gnarly cut down to the bone, and had to go to the ER to get stitches, but thank you for showing us numpties how to do it properly.
I almost got hurt with the hinges. I couldn't find videos on how to put the hinges back in the position they needed to be in. Your video saved me then you
OMG, thank you! I was just ready to go by a new stove. All the other videos just showed how to put the door back on if the hinge was not sprung! I wish there were a way for your videos to come up first in the search! Thank you!!!!!
Thank you! Cleaning the inside of the glass seemed so easy until the door would only attach on one side. I could tell one latch was in a different position than the other, but couldn't figure out how to fix it. Your video saved the day! Thought I was going to have to call a maintenance man, but your video showed a simple fix!
Omg This happened to me the very first time I cleaned my oven. Actually had to go to E.R. It was bad. This video actually just described my last cleaning. I just watched it and was able to put my door back on. The best video out there on the particular stove!! Thank you sooo much💯💕
Quality video that was exactly what I was looking for. I can’t believe no one else mentions it at all as many other videos as there are about these doors.
U literally helped me put my oven door back on! Ty. I was struggling to find a video but none of them had the spring locks. 😫 Thank you so much. Now I can put my door back on! 😌
Omg! Thank you for the very detailed video!! I did the same as you, pulled the stove door to move the stove and one side came off… I could not figure out how the heck to get it back in until I watched your video! Thank you, thank you and Thank you!! ❤
I was about to remove my oven door and thought before I do, I better go to youtube and see the proper way. I saw your (very catchy) thumbnail, and decided to watch. I am so glad I did, because there is no doubt something like that would have happened to me! I am very thankful and appreciative! You gained a new follower.
OMG! Thank you, thank you. Like others I had the same problem getting the door back on. Watch a lot of videos where they just slid it back on with ease. Never explained what you did. You saved me a good $185.
My friend your video was the best one that actually answered my question. I did cut my hand before watching the video but I couldn't put the door in. I was getting frustrated and almost gave up. 2hrs and 45 minutes later with a huge cut on my hand I got it done with your help. Thank you.
After an hour of trying with other videos, this one did the trick-- thanks so much for taking the time! Posting so other owners of Frigidaire Model # FGF 386 GQJ or FGF386GQJ find this faster! I owe you one!
I literally did everything you did. Including watch those other two videos and screwed up my thumb. Thanks for the fix. I couldn’t get that door back on. I wish I saw your video first.
This is the first time that I have ever left a comment or subscribed. This video should be madatory watching for any DIYer who is reinstalling his/her Frigidaire oven door. After wasting time trying to fit the door into the oven frame slots (all to no avail) I thought that maybe it had something to do with the locking mechanism. Your video confirmed this and gave a very good explanation. Sorry that you injured your thumb. Very grateful that despite your pain you helped me out.
omg thank you for helping me. I am sweating and smell like a gross an oven after replacing the shattered outer glass by watching a video....my springs had sprung and I couldnt figure out how to get the door back on. (I only have a minor bruise lol) So God Bless you my friend
Thank you! You nailed it!!!!! I had actually reset the side that hadn't sprung. Not knowing that it was right and the other hinge laying flat was wrong. I appreciate you showing exactly how it's done!
Thank you so much for this detail explanation, its very simple if its in half angled position and lock, otherwise its a total frustration until they find your video.
I got a cut in my middle finger when the oven door slipped while trying to put it back on several times with the hinges not fully extended. thank you very much. your video was a great help!
Thank God for your video. There was no other information, videos or anything that warned about those hinges contracting like that or what to do to get them into the position required to reinstall the door.
Agree with all the rest!!! Thank you!!!! Never had an issue till I did- your video Showed exactly hinge mechanism- great footage. So sorry you got hurt!
Thank you for the video! My husband’s finger was so close to the hinge when it snapped! We struggled together to try and pry that hinge open and finally I just told him to stop because I felt like it was an accident waiting to happen. I went online and found your video. Easy breezy after your instructions. Great of you to take the time and post this for others!
The exact thing happened to me in the exact same spot on my thumb about 5 weeks ago. It wasn't a cut it gouged out a divot in my thumb. i saw this too late but anyone who watches this and executes this repair successfully owes Ithacafixer large!!
Thanks for this! I wish I'd have seen it prior to removing my oven door. I ended up injuring my thumb requiring a trip to the ER to get 7 stitches. I have lost mobility & strength in my thumb now, (hopefully not permanently). No warning is stated in the oven manual telling people to beware of the hinges when removing it either! I'm a very mechanically inclined person too - it's rare I have trouble with stuff like this, but this setup is a very dangerous design. Your video illustrates the problem well and explains why it's necessary to keep your thumbs well away from the spring loaded bear traps they call hinges! Nice job illustrating the problem, keep up the good work! Maybe Fridgidaire should take note of your video and add a mention in their manuals for people to be extra careful.
So happy I found this life Saver of a Video and it Was the only video That RU-vid Was showing for this Model of the Stove. You Made Saved so many people that We're having this same Problem. Can't thank you enough wish I was a billionaire so I can give you life changing Money.
Thank you!!! I messed up my finger taking the door off. Then could not get it back on. I watched 10 videos at least and it was so simple for them. Then finally found this video. 5 stars
Thanks so much you expanded great I watched the same guy you're talking about he's a big dummy .me and my wife trying this for 45 minutes .door would not hook in lol . watched your video and had it in 1 second thanks 👍
Thanks for the information. I found this after getting a bandaid for my thumb. I figured there had to be an easy way. No problem after your instructions.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR HELPFUL VIDEO I'VE BEEN TRYING TO PUT BACK THAT DAMN DOOR FOR 2 HOURS I WAS ABOUT TO THROW THE WHOLE STOVE AWAY🤣 May God Bless you. ❤
WOW thank you so much we were about to give up and call someone to come fix the oven as they other videos on youtube about this situation were total crap but with your video we fixed the oven in less than 2 minutes!! Thank you
Well after I got my thumb crushed just like you I decided to look up how to do it and seen your thumb nail and said yep this guy knows what he's talking about lol. Thanks for the vid
Thank you so much for the steps @5:52. I kept trying to put my door back on and didn't realize the hinges had sprung. Followed your instructions and voila! Again, thanks!
Literally watching this with a bloody mashed thumb so I can put the door back on without getting hurt again. I saw this “life hack” on TikTok but got my finger caught. Thank you so much, going to put it back on now
Really helpful video. Originally I had previously viewed another how to video to remove the oven door to fix a lighter switch. To my surprise when I tried to reinstall the oven door frustration hit me hard. The video didn't tell that the hinge has to be in the right position. Had to go through 20 videos before I found yours. Sorry about your thumb
Wish I could give this 10 likes. Just saved me some time I was pulling out the hinges just not far enough to keep them sprung forward because I was scared I was going to break it. Seen your video and got mines on.
I took the door off with no problem, but both joints snapped shut. ( also got cut on my palm) This was truly helpful! I have a different model but it contains the same hinges and I couldn't get them to lock back into my oven.
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. Somehow the door unlocked and one side came off. I and my wife watched different videos all are not showing properly how to reinstall door. I get smacked my thumb very hardly same like you. I and my wife try long time to reinstall it and it’s not working how they showed. After watching your video we did it less than 1 minute. Thank you very much for your helpful video.
This video was a life savor almost called the effin fire department to help me cuz I was freaked out not having my oven door on 🤣 so thank you a million times !!
Thank you for this video, it was the only one I could find with the exact hinge match to my stove. The instructions from the stove do not show how to reinstall . It omitted the position of the hinge locks. Watching your video, I reinstalled in a minute. You really gotta hate the spring hinges. Not a task for mortal men
