The Funny thing about this video is that it is all about the Boston Bruins. For one Chiarelli fleeced someone besides the Bruins and for another Montreal traded away Subban the Bruin killer. This is a great day for Boston fans.

2020 update time(side note: why is this in my recommended?) Taylor Hall for Adam Larson: wasn’t worth it(Hall won MVP) but the Devils screwed it up by trading him for bulk goods to the Coyotes. Unimpressive bulk goods at that. Larsson is still an Oiler and a good defenceman for them Subban for Weber: Weber is the Habs captain and Subban got his large contract dumped onto the Devils and he hasn’t been even close to good this year. Did I also forgot to mention he was traded by Montreal for locker room issues and then became a cap casualty in Nashville for the same thing. Weber’s contract is still bad, not in money but in term Stamkos staying in Tampa: All’s good the Leafs got Tavares anyway

I'd be interested to know why 2 lopsided trades happened when Edmonton and Montreal could have made the trade between each other and nobody would be questioning their thought process. Also there's zero chance Subban wasn't being shopped, though I don't know what's more damning of the Montreal GM, the fact that he pulled the trigger on this trade or that he clearly didn't do much shopping around before making the decision.

The EDM-NJD trade---good in terms of players, but I'd think that Hall would have fetched at least a draft pick as well as a player, or Larsson AND Damon Severson. Of course, Edmonton could simply have drafted Larsson in 2011 instead of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The MTL-NSH trade---WTF? David Poile acquired what Nashville needed for years last season, a #1 center in Ryan Johansen (giving up Seth Jones, but Jones' path to the top pair was blocked), and now he trades for Subban, who is a great offensive D-man and younger than Weber? He is a robber, especially if Subban is paired with Josi. Also, Subban was traded 32 hours before his NTC kicked in. As for Stamkos...they were able to offer him the most in terms of take-home pay (no income tax in Florida). Even at 8.5M, Toronto would have had to offer at least $13M (including the Canadian Tire deal) to equal it in terms of take-home pay,

I was pissed about the hall trade at first but I'm calmed. Connor McJesus, Leon Draisaitl, Milian Lucic(Maybe), RNH, Ebs, Jesse Puljujarvi. Without Hall it'll sting. It really will. But maybe and hopefully this is for the best.

The other big thing with Tampa - aside from being able to give the 8th year, is no state tax on that salary. So 8.5 mill is 8.5 mill. To match that in other markets (taxes pending as they vary from State/Province to State/Province) it would have to be 10.5 mill or higher type thing. So him taking longer term, tax-free money and staying on a contender is really a no-brainer. Speaking of no brains, thanks Chiarelli. back to my fetal ball I go.
