It is such a shame that electronics has knocked out sound in music. I saw the Basie band many times Butch personally. Eddie Jones once demonstrated to me the SOUND of an acoustic bass. I also Buddy Rich live, and the precision of these drummers is exceptional. On the Tony Bennet "Duets" recordings, the musicians were always changed and formed according to the arrangement. But only one musician was NEVER changed: the drummer Harold Jones - the Basie drummer

Whirly Bird was a drum feature for the Basie Band, not so much here. Great drumming by Butch ( my favorite Basie drummer ), how long was he in this band, it is a great swinging big band, love them.
