Serious question for anyone who has visited Victoria Falls. Did you, even if only for a moment, feel the urge to join the waiter going over the falls? Even if you had absolutely no intention of unaliving yourself per se? I asked this same question in another forum and woman answered that yes, she felt a strong urge to join the water going over the falls. According to her, friends of hers who had visited Niagara Falls had reported the same thing. She described it as being something very primal...like a deep instinct.

I lived here for past 11 years, 4km away, first few weeks I fantasized about going down into the gorge with the water, I was aware the deepest point is 105m, but somehow had this thought that one can make it, it was until I heard even elephants and hippos have been swept over and got unalived in the process. Thus how it stamped in my mind that it's practically impossible, to my disappointment. In 2014, the gorge was empty because of a drought, we had an opportunity to clearly see all of the crevices of this wonder.

@@briankonson6541 Have you ever been in the Devil's Pool, or is that something that mainly tourists do? The woman I talked to didn't mention whether or not she thought she could survive a plunge over the falls. She just said she felt a powerful, deep, and very primal urge to join the flow going over. And according to her, friends of hers who had visited Niagara Falls felt the same thing. I don't think it would be self-destructive per-se at all. Maybe like just jumping off into infinity? Or maybe an instinctive connection to the water? Humanity has been linked to water ever since humanity has been a thing. It would make for a good psychological study. It probably involves a primitive part of the brain.

@@b1blancer1 I feel what you mean exists in a spectrum between an extreme urge to blend into nature and fear, which are both natural instincts.m seeing the kind of therapy nature has on the soul. Once one gets near such a wonder they experience anything in between those two ends. However, I have never been into the devil's pool, it's on the Zambian side. Many other people, locals and tourists swim there at the correct levels of water. They'll be clearly visible from the Zimbabwean side.
