The guitar part is a sample of a John Frusciante lesson video where he demonstrates two note chords. Would love to see Daniel talk about John. There's a part in the new chili peppers song 'these are the ways' that sounds like a drop D silverchair riff too.
Just discovered Daniel released this album. Bought the CD. Every song is great. Damn. A number of these new songs have been stuck in my head. And that's a good thing.
The song people criticized even before they heard it! And the surprise came; It's much better than I imagined! This sounds awesome playing on my stereo 🤗💛 His voice is surreal ❤️🔥
Wow.. This is catchy, that bass line has such a 2000s Silverchair riff with a major modern twist.. Makes me want to play guitar and then dance to electronica ❤️
So stoked to FINALLY(I know...finally...) discover (Talk &) Futurenever, this winter. It wasn’t even resistance as a sc fan, just wasn’t paying enough attention : ( not gonna pretend to love each & every song, but I’m so excited about your evolution & obsessed with your solo work right now. Had really dark periods personally & for my family during 2022- I know finding these sooner woulda helped, but alas. This (shit’s hot!) & Someone call an ambulance are my current healthy addictions. Mahalo for doing it your way- your music is saving me all over again♡ & now I'ma have to check out Peking duk.
We saw Dan as a man in love in Talk, and I actually loved to the core a lot of the lyrics talking about his relationship. A lot of the lyrics on Futurenever are just not good to my ears, but this track I can relate to a lot, bc it feels like its honest. Vulnerable but the beat contrast it, and the title is against standard norms. Can’t stop listening to it.
I hope when (and if) this is played live it’s played with a band. I’d love to hear someone smacking the shit out of some drums while Dan’s laying down that guitar riff. Also mega distorted bass 🤙🏻 Took me a few listens but I’m warming up to this album. So far this track and Stand ‘Em Up are my reasons for listening to it.
Coming back 2 months later to say I absolutely LOVE this track! Love the crescendos in this track ❤️❤️❤️ and have this on loud in my car when I’m commuting 🔥🔥🔥
Damn boy!!! You got the groove. Electrifying our h-ear-ts since 1994. Thanks Dan!! I wish I have the chance to pastel draw you in a coffee avenue near Sydney someday.
Ok, I LOVE this song and this album. An excellent immersive experience into the moment. THIS. GROOVE! Excuse me for being 2 years late (Sorry for the silverchair comment, but the nostalgic associations back to being a teen at MSG in NYC watching Silverchair open for the Chili Peppers came back, there’s a similar periodicity to the groove of that live show….visions of the future yet totally grounding in the moment) … can listen to this on repeat endlessly at the center of my newest mindfulness practice. Thank you Daniel Johns!!!!
Were in a hotel room in Edinburgh and I hear the best attempt at falsetto "like a snap shot" 🙊 sang out of my hubbys lips, he asks "what is this" its stuck in my head ~ lol 😆 my hubby is the type that can't get over to sleep because of vocal ear worms (usually our sons nursery rhymes off RU-vid!) He has hooked a new worm and asked me who is this??? I had been dipping his toes into FutureNever at the weekend just playing it at times when we were chilling. Thats 3 in my house now hooked, Its a full house here of FN fans! We think about YOU all the time Dan and wish you the very best xxx 💚💜
@@DanielJohnsHQ its us who are appreciating Dan and the music! I keep finding these little treasures going back into his catalogue of songs 💚💜 wishing Dan well hes constantly in my thoughts as I acquaint myself with the music. Xx
This song is another banger! 🔥 So creative and futuristic! When i listen to this song i feel like i am being teleported to a nightclub in a futuristic place and i can´t contain myself from feeling the beat and move my body accordingly to it. I absolutely love what i think is a really distorted eletronic sound from an eletric bass and maybe also guitar. I love when i can still hear actual instruments in an electronic music. And the beat drop in the song is insanely good! His voice is so smooth and the song has a very mysterious vibe. Regarding the lyrics of the song, i think it may refer to the fact that he is falling in love in the real world, with all its highs ans lows (not perfect), not only in his dreams, where he sees love as being something perfect and full of colours (magic or fantasy). Like he is trying to not do what the protagonist of the short-film “My Mind´s Own Melody” did. The story of that short-film is actually curious, because although Daniel didn´t write it, it strangely has some similarities with his own story and the way i think he sees life/love, in a metaphorical way. Melodia is like a Diorama/Young Modern world, so it really makes sense that songs from these two album were used in the short-film. Or it can be black and white because it´s not a healthy relationship, so the use of the words “cocaine killa”. Only my interpretation of the lyrics and i can be completely wrong. It may sound strange and also a side effect of his instagram fight with Batman 😂, but i have to confess that the first time that i listened to this song i also imagined it being played in a nightclub in Gotham City, while Batman is dancing. 😂 You know, you gotta take a break from fighting crime every now and then. 😂😂 But now talking seriously, maybe the Scroundel still has an opportunity for this to happen, because i heard they are making a sequel for the movie “The Batman” and i think that this song has a huge potencial to become a viral hit and appearing in the soundtrack of that film could make it happen. Related to the “easter eggs” that Daniel left in this song i haven't figured it out yet, because of the really different electronic sound, but i think i can guess that it can be something related to Freakshow in terms of bass and guitar playing and something related to Neon Ballroom in terms of lyrics. Is there even any musical genre that Daniel still needs to "visit"? I would say country and hip hop, but then i remembered some songs from Young Modern that had a country vibe and he even did some songs with the rapper 360. I think he may be one of the most versatile artists ever!
Dan I love this. The whole album I mean!!Finding it similar to Bowie/Blackstar!! Which is so great too. Do you feel David Jones influenced you at all??
At 2min50 I was hoping thus was going to build and go absolutely Fcking bonkers...I dunno why, yet I'd loved it to have went into a frenzy with drum and bass, like Cocaine Sharks feasting on our neurons, my body just wanted to be able to move that way, release frustration, release energy and dance vhelmently committed to knowing that addiction will own us if we let it, but in the end we are the Great White Shark. Please consider a remix with an absolutely bonkers peak at the build up! Literal 🎸 smashing but in the style of the song 🎵 👌 (sorry, I'm nothing but a music fan all my life ) Brilliant album so far I'm just on my 1st listen!
I was sitting there one night listening to Cocaine Killa and i always over analyze the lyrics. There’s like a process in which I listen and dissect the music and what it sounds like and feels like for me. It all kinda just came to me and I could be off here BUT this is what I thought - in My Minds Own Melody he was writing how his regular life was this black and white and then when he would go to sleep or be inside his head he would dream all of these crazy vivid bright colors that describe the different types of feelings and love that he didn’t feel in the black and white world, the present, but in cocaine killa he talks about how he’s falling in love in black and white. Like he’s being more present and not inside of his head. Like has been tapping into that healthier mindset as well of living in the moment versus being stuck in the past or anxious about the future. You see the guy at the end of the short film living in an old folks home zoned out in his head forever dreaming of a reality that wasn’t actually there. I may be way off here but 😂
Hey Daniel, I love this track. Also I feel the need for it to be heavier, where you drop the track into some distorted guitar and heavy rock drum beat. Hoping very much for you to inject some more instrumental influences into the electronic beats, just to fill the tunes out a little and add that extra layer of complexity to the mix. What about featuring Kingswood or even Audioslave? Would be epic to hear this rip. Also I'm hanging to hear you and Lorde together one day. Great album keep it up
