The payoff was well worth the wait - to hear what these two transcendent brothers came up with... I loved hearing about their bromance on the podcast. I feel it: joy, love, respect.
Vandyke Parks bringing out that magic 60's vibe in DJ. This is up there with the best of Brian Wilson, very reminiscent of Freddy Mercury, and close to Paul McCartney in that bridge. Phenomenal job. This is already a timeless classic.
This song hits the sweet spot between everything that Dan’s done in the past. THIS is the meeting point of the past, present and future. It feels like Dan finally becoming the artist he was meant to be.
This entire album has quickly become my absolute favorite of Dan's work... but this song... man THIS song... my anthem. It feels like it was written just for me and my panic disorder... I've been touched by alot of music but this was on a different level. "So much air I cant breathe... now Im speechless cause I fear mankind"... That's my panic attacks put to music. Beautiful... simply beautiful.
Same. This song helps me stop from going into the black hole of a panic attack. Ground myself in it...Tuna in The Brine was one of many. Dan, keep it up you're helping more than therapy!
Hello, how are you? I don't have panic attacks, but I have anxiety to the point that my blood pressure goes up and my doctor gave me some medicine, I'm feeling very well, I've been living in a lot of fear for about 5 years, I would wake up with frights, I couldn't hear loud sounds... look for a doctor friend, I can tell you the medicine he gave me for you to ask too, then I'll delete the name.. hugs from Brazil
"Now I'm speechless cause I fear mankind", that was exactly what I was thinking of just 3 days ago, before I listened to this. This song became exactly in time...
It was this year that I became a fan of Dan and Silverchair's music, listening to their entire discography day and night. I am currently going through a depression crisis and it seems that this song came at the right time to save me. I would like Dan to know the healing power that his music can have on people who may live miles away from him, but it is his art that shortens distances, making feel as if they did not exist. Thanks for your music and for unknowingly helping me, Dan! 🖤
🥺🥺 It's incredible. It's wonderful everytime I see or hear someone speak on this. I spent so many years trying to get people in my life to get it. Im so glad to hear this music has helped you as well. 💖 Lately it hasn't just been healing it's been connecting people like never before. 😊
My favourite from the album, Dan. So beautiful. Thank you for sharing this new insight into your creative genius. Love the mix of Diorama/Young Modern vibes here. ♥️
I’ve known you for a long time, not diectement but by your music, you accompanied me when I was only a kid, I learned your music and your words, I understood a lot in them and then you went away, You left without really leaving because you were doing other art projects, I loved The dissociatives for example, then you left again and here you are again Daniel Johns. I’ve taken the time to listen to your latest work, it lives up to your talent, and I’ve more than once felt that chill that peels off my lower back to come right into my heart, I mean, your music at this particular stage will once again carry with me remedies and later I will have the memories that they will relate to my life today in April 2022 just like I had for FreakShow, the beautiful Neon Ballroom, The beautiful Diorama, Straight lines... all those times when your music helped me live less miserable. Your last and first solo album is beautiful, I know that the words I use stink because they don’t exist yet to express what I feel when I listen to you, thank you on behalf of all those souls who are looking and will still seek to find a way to get better, Your music helps me feel better, the sun in the same color everywhere on Earth and we watch it together. THANK YOU
A true masterpiece! I hear some “Beatles” vibes but purely theatrical DJ as well. VDP and DJ are magic together! I can’t stop listening. Well worth the wait🪶🪶🪶
This could literally get him sued in this day and age when everyone is getting sued, hope whoever owns the Beatles music ain’t reading our comments and never hear this song yeah lol
I didn’t mean the same as, just the vibe! It’s purely theatrical and magical! It just reminded me of some Beatles type songs. To be honest, even though I adore John Lennon, Daniel Johns is my favorite male musician. He is the 🐐, underrated brilliance! Just like “Those thieving birds” part 1 and 2, this song has a “Magic” quality about it. He changes things up! He is a lyrical genius.
Lying in bed with earphones on, my 12 year old son listens to this song. He finishes with a smile on his face and tells me this is the best song he has ever heard. Thankyou Daniel 😊
Aaah, working with VDP again- inspired move. The man is simply a legend, and your previous collaborations are testament to how well you work together. Brilliant. 10/10. What a melody. Great chord changes. Noice!
2 years later and this song still brings me to tears. I never felt more heard or seen in a song in my life. This is my panic disorder put to gorgeous music. Thank you Daniel... thank you. I do feel like you feel.
Beautiful!!! Listening to this album, I feel exactly like I felt when I listened to Diorama for the first time!!! Yeah, 20 years later! Thank you for this, Dan!!! And I wish you all the best!!! By the way, Happy Belated Birthday!!! (I feel like you're my oldest brother, and I'm honored to be here, listening to your words, again. Since 1995 until the FutureNever!!! ) 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤘🤘🤘🥰🥰🥰🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I’m an instrument person so your new style isn’t everything I’m into, but this song really has some late Silverchair vibes and it’s so refreshing to hear your voice, Daniel. I’m still waiting for Tomorrow like you told me 20 years ago, man. Waiting till tomorrow…
This song is absolutely spectacular and makes me so damn happy. I lost my little dog recently and his name was Diego and this song brings a much needed smile to my face. Thanks for that
this makes me think that Dan needs to one day become a father ...when he has kids, he will write the most beautiful songs for them. he has that whimsical, lullaby vibe already in some songs but if he experiences the love of being a father, he will go to another level
I hope he does. He will never restrict or diminish them. Granted there may need to be someone there to implement the daily routines but he would cherish and accept them for who they are because he knows that this is ultimately what makes or breaks you in this life. Unconditional love ♥️
Dude, this album is amazing. I just “found” you again recently. THIS album is your masterpiece. I grew up listening to my Dads beach boys records and your early stuff so it’s awesome to hear you working with Van Dyke!! Such a great pairing. I’ve done long spells in rehab myself so I wish you all the best. You’ll get through the other end bruv. Take care!!!
This song is beautiful. I’ve been listening on repeat. I especially like the “and I don’t need your bad advice so please don’t try and understand.” It resonates a lot.
I really don't know how to express words for this album. and so amazing! 💜 Daniel, you are not just any artist. you are an artist Different, unique, it's rare!❤. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this album all over the world listening to it🌍 I wish you much success my love🌟... I love you for all eternity!! ❤❤❤
Great song... in a way it reminds me of some Beatles stuff, the vibe of it. And to be honest, it doesn't bring me any of Diorama feelings, althoug some are a bit (very little bit) similar to YM material. Daniel's voice has changed as well. Great album, mate, really appreciated.
This is another one thst very well could have ended up on a Silverchair record! Diorama definitely. This song is absolutely beautiful! You have no idea how happy this album has made me
Is it realistic to hope for a whole album / collaborative project between Mr. Johns and Mr. Parks? A collaboration of such caliber may indeed solve much of the world’s problems.
This is the greatest thing you've ever done, Daniel - and I say that as someone who knows and loves your entire catalogue and considers it up there with the Beatles. The melodies used here, both in the musical composition and especially the vocals, sound like they were made by the musical equivalent of a chess master. Bravo.
Cuz Ive had this feeling all my life and I don’t need your bad advice so please don’t try and understand …. 2:34 funky break down. FOR YOU.. FOR YOU.. listening to this song the first handful of times I was just a puddle on the floor. It still captivates me with each listen. Beautiful song from top to bottom. The words. The melody. His voice. So touching.
This song is simply magical! When Daniel and Van Dyke Parks collaborate always happens pure magic. Van Dyke Parks is really a brilliant arranger and knows exactly what instruments to add to the song and in the perfect places to really elevate it. The melody solely created by the acustic guitar and Daniel´s voice is really beautiful and the additions that Van Dyke Parks made are like “the cherry on top of the cake”. I also really love to hear Daniel in what i think it´s called baroque pop, but i even don´t know if we can say that this song includes in that genre, because this sound is really a “classic” Daniel Johns sound, very different from everything. I can get a Brian Wilson and The Beatles vibe, but even that is very different from what he creates. This song really makes you travel through space/time and really feels like we are back to the Diorama era and with the final part of the song, even more experimental and psychedelic, also to the Young Modern era. So i also think that the “easter eggs” Daniel left in this song related to the Diorama and Young Modern eras refer to the fact that he really recreated again the sound achieved in these albums, but even added a part in the song that really feels like you are being teleported to another place/time. The combination of the instruments played in that part really transmits you the feeling of being in a portal. I had to search which instruments were being played because there are so much things happening at the same time, with sounds that i never heard before or don´t recognize. Then i discovered the mellotron, hammond organ and vibrafone. The moog bass i already knew because of the song Where Do We Go. Beau is really talented, because the number of different instruments that he played in this song is insane! I also love what i think is a guitar being played at that part with a really cool effect, because it sounds like it´s paving the way through the portal. The use of vocoder in that part also accentuates the idea of travelling through space/time. Another really interesting thing is that near the end we hear another person saying “i´m emergency calls only”, like a backing vocal and the voice really sounds like John Lennon, reinforcing even more the Beatles vibe of the song. Although the lyrics of the song are sad, i can´t help but smile when this part of the song begins, because it´s so "Daniel" and so f*cking brilliant. Daniel´s voice in this song is simply beautiful and has so much emotion. I also really love the lyrics, specially the lines “so much air/i can't breathe/now i'm speechless 'cause i fear mankind” and “'cause i've had this feeling all my life/and i don't need your bad advice/so please don't try and understand”. This lines are really meaningful and there is so much truth in what is being said. In the lines “so much air/i can´t breathe” Daniel is clearly playing with the words (really clever) and we can clearly hear “Silverchair, i can´t be” (the Frogwash symbol in the background reinforces this). The only thing i have to say about this is that i really hope that one day some people will really understand these lines once and for all. The most importante thing is Daniel´s well-being and he doesn´t owe these people anything. In fact, i find it surreal that people still can´t understand this. Unfortunately, i think some people will never understand these lines (or better, deliberately choose to not understand it), so the best thing to do is to ignore. The present and the future are bright and i really think the FutureNever era is being the best of Daniel Johns´s career. So much genius things happening and some people are totally missing it, because they seem stuck in the past. Like Daniel said, this song is about "that need to turn yourself off to the world… not forever, but just for a little bit while you get your shit together”, and that is exactly what he transmits to the listener with the song. It´s a very reflective song that makes you think about life and conclude that sometimes you need to be on your own, without other people interfering. Lyrically “i´m emergency calls only”, but “there´s nothing said in time/sometimes i get lonely” or "i'm emergency calls only", but "calling out/and i´ve never felt so lonely/for you (he may be refering to the listener)” is the new “i don´t wan´t to be lonely/i just want be alone” (maybe this is another “easter egg”).
“I don’t want to be lonely. I just want to be alone 🎶”. This is the last song he wrote and recorded so far. And it really feels like the end. Hopefully Daniel the person can make it to be happy and healthy. Daniel the creator’s artistry journey has been already loved and appreciated all across the world. Just do you.
@@DanielJohnsHQ yes. He's a great artist but I love him cause he is an amazing human being. If he knew how special he is. I hope he can feel my love and admiration for him somehow.
Above all and anything, pick someone you can laugh with. Someone who lets you launch your most silly inner child and they let theirs loose too! Love and laughter. 💘💜💘💜 Find your people who are few. In this world probably less than 5. 💜💗💜💗💜 I've been here in December 2019 and it was a lonely hell. Doesnt matter why, yet the colours came back and the flowers bloomed again. There's so much strength gained from crossing that point in your life. 💜💞💜💞 I hope everyone who reads this realises its a point worth passing and to let the cycle happen and keep on waiting for the colours to start coming back. 💜💓 Beautiful mosaic artworks are made from sharp debris & little broken pieces. 💔💟💞💓💜
This song makes me wonder how much Dan/VDP are inspired by Paul McCartney. It very much sounds like an original track but there are elements of the progression that are reminiscent of Hey Jude to my ears and the bridge/detour sounds very McCartney inspired. How lucky are we that these multigenerational talents are alive at the same time? This is making me crave a Johns/Parks/Macca collab honestly.
