Really fun video. I think this shows in many ways why GM's are so good. While most of us were probably looking at the attack Ramirez had going aimed at f7 thinking maybe Danya was in trouble, Danya had a counterattack building the entire time that was even better but none of us saw it coming. Brilliance!

Oh yes, the good old fashioned handshake, with eye contact. Very unlike the light, limp wristed slightly brushing of the hands, looking nervously at the floor, we see today. Good game, Danya is a pukka opponent.

Is the Bird's Opening good for a beginner?
@LPSlight0
@LPSlight0 4 месяца назад
@@DhrjMakj For beginners seeking to learn in the classical, traditional way, it's worse than simply playing e4 or d4, but in terms of playing an opening that's fun, offbeat, and focuses on different opening principles (controlling the center from afair using pieces) instead of occupying the centre directly with pawns (classical), it's a dandy choice. Plus, unlike unsound openings like the Grob, the Bird is solid both theoretically and by the engine. I would focus on playing the openings that captivate you the most, instead of the one that will simply be safer to play.

So nice to see organic OTB like this. It's hard to learn as much for my own OTB games when the presentation of them usually is more like a broadcast, which I get. But an angle of how it'd look and the etiquette in practice from start to finish has provided a major relief to me. Obviously nothing major will happen from a small OTB mistake, but I like to be as prepared as possible.

I wasn’t in love with bxb7 because of the counter play it allowed. Maybe against a weaker opponent it works. There was a lot of pressure on f7 from white bur whites bishop could never get to d5 comfortably so the attack never worked out and because of the counterplay the game quickly turned into whoever’s attack comes first will win. Very good game and instructive. White had an advantage in the opening and early in the middle game. I feel (taking on b7 was the crucial mistake but I don’t have the right moves it just FEELS like that was the turning point of the game. Both players are far better than me and it shows just how at the higher levels mistakes and inaccuracies are actually blunders because of the skill level of the opponents
