The highest notes are actually the soprano in the front (Kate) rather than the one in the back (Tiffany). Tiffany can go high as well and is a fantastic soprano, but Kate is the coloratura soprano who can do the absurdly high notes while still somehow blending.
Kate usually does those higher notes correct but in this song it is Tiffany doing the descant note on top in the middle of the song when they are all singing together.
She was right on the first one. Tiffany did the high notes. And the last high note was Kate's because it has more lighter texture. The arrangement is balanced really well. This is not debatable because it's so obvious.
@@amr21106 Correct. In the middle of the song, Tiffany seems to be singing higher than Kate (or at least more distinctly), from around 6:40-7:27, especially around 7:02 on the long note. But Kate takes the higher notes on the second "Christ" run at 7:27. Danielle's commentary at 7:37 seems to accredit the really high note(s) to Tiffany instead of Kate, hence my comment (Which could have been clearer.).
The soloist, EJ Cardona has an amazing voice. He's done two pieces with Voiceplay, I Can't Make You Love Me and Go the Distance. Great reaction Danielle!
Yeah all of the members of voctave are superhero-status singers with amazing portfolio's, many of them being Disney and other esteemed titles. They are like the avengers of choirs.
David Phelps sang with the Gaither Vocal Band for many years. Check out their performance at Carnegie Hall after 911, and hear David in the song “Let Freedom Live.”
Great reaction! They are amazing. The person down in front that you said you think might sing a little bit of first soprano is Kate Lott. She is an insanely talented singer who sings the highest notes as others have been saying. Watch any other voctave performance and it is more obvious. Tiffany in the back is also a wonderful singer though.
Must, Must, MUST do “Mary Did You Know?”featuring Mark Lowry (who wrote the song). It’s hard to put into words how spectacular the arrangement and performance of that song is by this group and their guest vocalist.
Please also react to their "Prince of Egypt Medley" if you haven't already. I'm new to your channel and loved your comments. PS. I recently went to their concert in Columbia, MO. You should hear E.J. sing that live! Got a standing ovation!! 😊
Love that you're finally catching up with Voctave! As some mentioned before here in the comments, the 1st soprano is actually Kate Lott (the blonde girl in the front - see how much she opens her mouth to reach those REALLY high notes), the one you mentioned (Tiffany) is actually Soprano 2 (coloratura soprano). Hope you keep reacting to their videos! The lead EJ also made some really good collabs with Voiceplay, so has his brother Omar. You'll love em! ❤
Don't think Tiffany could be categorised a coloratura, basing on her timbre. She's a soprano with a coloratura instrument in her voice which enables her to sing notes easily up to e flat or an e6. Whereas Kate is a true coloratura and all of the high notes are very natural and easy for her to produce...
I knew OF EJ before seeing this the first time. He has done collaborations with Pentatonix (and others). So, I knew he was good. THIS piece dropped my jaw. I think Voctave is probably the best sounding 'choir ensemble' I have ever heard. Your reaction was, as always, very good. I've been a subscriber for several months. I appreciate how your emotion and fascination shines through! After that, you often explain WHY your eyes popped out or you made that "OMG" expression. I'll make you a deal... You keep doing reactions, and I'll keep watching them (and giving them a thumbs up)!!
It was about time someone as knowledgeable as you reacted to this absolute masterpiece again. Voctave is way too underrated so this reaction made me very happy.
Stunning vocals + stunning arrangement = me getting almost non-stop chills. WOW!! Great reaction as always Danielle! I recommend a great Home Free song that doesn't get enough attention: "What Christmas Means To Me." More of their hilarious side, and Rob sleighs the lead vocals. (See what I did there?) #subscriptionsquad
Yeah, he's got a couple of holds in this one that are jaw-dropping. And then he actually goes UP in pitch at the end as he's crescendo-ing. It's incredible.
Kate Lott the soprano in the front is the first soprano. She is an Opera trained coloratura soprano...Tiffany, the soprano in the back is great but she is more pop...
I'm soooo happy you reacted to Voctave again !! And that one is one of my favorite, my jaw dropped like yours at the end ahaha You absolutly NEED to react to their Disney Love Medley, it's their best one and the singer from Pentatonix is their guest ! And then I'll give you other great ones so that you have some ammunitions : Poor Unfortunate Souls/I Put A Spell On You ft. Rachel Potter Disney Showstoppers Medley Mary, Did You Know - Voctave feat. Mark Lowry (the original songwriter !) Someone Like You (from Jekyll and Hyde) - feat. Jody McBrayer Hope you'll continue I love your reactions !
And now for something completely different, as they used to say on Monty Python, you must listen to the Pentatonix version of O Come All Ye Faithful - you have not heard it this way before and, as with all their stuff, it is fantastic!
Voiceplay has released a new cover, and it is most definitely mandatory reaction material. Metallica's Nothing Else Matters as performed by Voiceplay ft. JNone
I recommend you listening to "Wildflower" by Park Hyo Shin! He is a Korean singer and is very technically talented. It's about his struggles and difficult living under a harsh company agent and also his closest friend committing suicide.
This time of season you got to hear either An Easter Hallelujah or A Christmas Hallelujah by Cassandra Star & her sister Callahan. # Subscription squad
Can you PLEASE tell me why you didn't even mention that E.J. held the end for 26 seconds? Most reactors comment and are surprised by that instead of just focusing on how high Kate sang! 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠💓💓 If you haven't, can you react to Voctave sing Mary Did You Know with Mark Lowry who wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music?
I need to go see if you have found the Voctave video featuring Kristen from Pentatonix and her then boyfriend. You get a much better chance to hear Kate, the shorter blonde soprano who is in the front in this video, sing her amazing high notes.
Hi Danielle, hello girl! Idk if you seen Morissette tackle opera yet. But if you haven't, check out Mori singing Butsikik with other singers to. In opera style. Hope you like it! Best wishes. 'nJoey
I'm from PAPUA Indonesia and I do like the way you pinted the way of singing. Do de music teacher ake a duet. I will apply all your notes from the reation...
I love your channel and your reactions are stellar and warm my heart. I would love to hear you react to David Phelps sing "I Have Nothing" the Whitney Houston cover. He even does it in her key.
Hey, You recently Watched the music video of PTX ft. Lea Salonga - Christmas is in our hearts. PTX just posted the Official vid of it, if you want to watch it! no need to make a video but I hope you enjoy!! 🥰
Subscription squad..hi Danielle, would you please please do a reaction video of Geoff Castalucci's new solo cover song..Till Then.. originally by the Mills Brothers ? Also Voice Play has a brand new one just out .. Nothing Else Matters..would you please do a reaction video of that one too ?
Come ON with that unison octave of glory in the highest?!?!?! Do we know how hard it is to do that well at the end of a phrase???? If not, go back to undergrad vocal ped, y'all.
Not to be critical, BUT, how did you NOT acknowledge that he held that note for ten full seconds then bumped up to the higher note for an additional 15 seconds, HODLing all the way.
I was really excited to find your channel and love your voice but when I scrolled through y ok it videos you pretty much concentrate on 6 artists. Why?
Unfortunately I'm unsubscribing to your channel. I've noticed over and over again that when you do these reactions, you are always pointing out the highest voices. The altos have lovely movement throughout the piece father then just holding down that E we are forever stuck with in older arrangements of music. The basses are so great here. Kate and Tiffany are always spectacular, I get it. But moving forward, maybe point out the lines that are harder to hear. It's a great opportunity to show your subscribers that a choir or a cappella or whatever is more than just the high notes. Sincerely, an Alto 1.
