Love watching your videos!! I think you should watch more of Geoff’s solo work, I’d recommend Blackbird and Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold! He’s amazing!
Just when I say they can't get better..........amazing! Rachel was the understudy for Glinda on Broadway. Emoni is a powerhouse too, but I have to give props to Layne in this one. His vocal perc was astonishing. Everyone just sounds so good together and are so talented. Geoff worked on this for years and he finally got the perfect "cast" to sing it. Also, Geoff's new solo song is the best one he's done to date. I'm a huge fan of his bass, but it's his bare-tenor that made me cry. Shenandoah is such a moving song and he nails it perfectly.
Next one on the list is the Greatest Showman medley, right? This one was fun to watch. It was great to see you appreciate the time Geoff put into this arrangement, too. I know he said he slaved over it for a long, long time before he found the right feel, the right voices to perform it, too, I'm sure. But, it's one of their best, for sure.
Cesar has been such a good addition to the group. I love geoffs look at him after his kill the witch. Cesar pure joy at seeing bubbles, and the was Cesar looks at him during the I have been changed bit.
Love this. Geoffs 7min plus Beast he said years in the making. Eli is turning into an awesome lighting geek. This is perfect. I also get goosebumps with their new year's release of The Greatest Showman Medley. Rachel was Glenda in the theatre.
Emoni has sung with VoicePlay on a few videos, as well as touring with them on the Sing Off tour. She's fantastic; one of those voices I kind of wish they collaborated with more often. She also seems like a truly lovely person, which is always nice. I really wanted to point out a couple of Geoff's recent releases to you. As you know from watching this Wicked medley, Geoff's arrangements have gotten so amazing of late, and his last two solo releases also reflect that. I know it's not Christmas season any longer, but if you haven't seen his rendition of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, then you are seriously missing out. He has updated that old carol, while still maintaining its essence entirely. I don't know how he does it. (Also, thanks to that video, I now know what a Picardy Third is. Thanks for the music theory education, Geoff!) And then there's his most recent cover, Shenandoah. This is a choral standard, at least in certain parts of the US (my daughter sang it from middle school through high school, pretty much on a yearly basis in either her chorus class or in district assessment). It's a sweet song, but as usual, Geoff transforms it into something absolutely sublime. It will about bring tears to your eyes, it's so lovely. Please do check them out- you don't want to miss these!
Definitely agree with Greatest Showman Medley by Voiceplay #subscriptionsquad. Fantastic reaction BTW. This is a top 3 VP song for me, and Defying Gravity was so amazing, that alone could be a top 3 VP song.
This is soo good!! Probobly my favorite from Voiceplay by far. And Rachel, at the end, is just spectacular! Seeing them perform live, in the flesh is gonna be on my bucket list! 🔥🔥🔥💕💕💕 #subscriptionsquad
Yes Emoni has sung with them before, offhand I think of The Bones, when Earl left the group. previously there is one the title of which escapes me but it's about a a bubble yum bum. :) I'm sure there are others but can't think just now. Also she sang with them on the Sing Offs.
You should check out the last cover of Geoff 😊. Also, if you like bass, you must at least listen one time to Tim Storms cover of Lonesome Road or nearer.
That was Rachel's 10th collaboration with Voiceplay and Emoni's 6th official video one because she has been with Voiceplay on sing off tour and are life long friends!
Danielle I got to see this live for my first time 3 years ago and I was humming every song it was funny I didn’t realize it until funnily enough the end of act 1 with this song. I love Voiceplay I discovered these guys myself by accident scrolling RU-vid
Loved your review, it really highlighted the richness of the arrangement as well as the vocals. i am also an avid Glee fan too, I miss it so much! Thank you for doing these reviews, they are so entertaining!
Great reaction! This is such an amazing performance and arrangement from VoicePlay. Emoni has collaborated with them a few times, but I'd specifically recommend checking out either The Bones (so underrated and so beautiful) or Just Sing (a video for charity which features a bunch of performers VoicePlay has collaborated with over the years - if you watch this one, make sure you turn on the captions to know who's who!). Also recommending Geoff's newest video, Shenandoah. It's one of the most beautiful things he's done yet.
I loved watching your reaction to this! Your love for the music and the joy in every bounce is infectious. Please, please, please react to Geoff's most recent, Shenandoah. And if you aren't tired of Christmas, his God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
The arrangement is superb vocals as always fantastic but the harmony in this is truly angelic ironic being from wicked lol but wow wow wow so good chills don't even describe the feeling
When you stopped and talked about Emoni and Rachel switching 'roles' for the song, I totally got what you were saying, but I was like, she'll get it when the rest of the song plays out.
This is why I love your reactions. Most reactors are either pure emotion or pure technical analysis. You give us the perfect mix of both, and manage to make sure that neither one is lacking. Absolutely one of my favorite reactors - keep up the incredible work!
Yes Emoni actually has sung with Voiceplay during The Sing Off Tour. Emoni was actually on season 4 with her group Ten , with Voiceplay and Home Free. This is absolutely amazing for sure. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to these songs.
I think you would REALLY enjoy Voiceplay's Just Sing! It features 20 or so singers, including both Rachel and Emoni (as well as a number of notable past collaborators and Voiceplay members). It also has captions noting on the singers resume highlights and/ or how Voiceplay met them. Closed Captions on is a must. Truly awesome video!
I think you may need some new headphones because the ones you have apparently don’t let you hear any of Geoff’s magical bass line, just the high notes. 🤨
Emoni has sung with them in a few videos. Plus she is sings in The Villians Lair by PattyCake Productions which is Layne and Tony Wakim’s company. You should check some of those out.
LOVED your reaction!! I agree with everything you said and pointed out much of the same thing myself. The musical transition to Defying Gravity was EVERYTHING!!! Awesome!
No, Rachel and Emoni shouldn't switch roles. You'll see (and hear) why shortly...........waits for 'Defying Gravity'........That's why. It took Geoff several years to do the arrangement for this. Eli did the lighting design per usual lately. This is their best medley by far. I'm sure you'll eventually get around to their Greatest Showman Medley, but I don't think it measures up to this one.
Ooh please please react to Defying Gravity ~ Superfuit! I think you'll really enjoy it. Competitively, it's way less of a production but so so worth it!
I like the way the sing ❤❤😊 and especially i appreciate you Danielle for reacted this song and some another songs of accapellas group. It is because of your reacted and all the explaination parts of every songs you give i know to sing especially the bass i love that geoffe sing😊😊❤❤
Hey! I believe the reason they cast Rachel as Glinda was because she actually was the understudy in traveling Wicked for 2 years on broadway, so it made a lot of sense. It’s somewhere in here credentials if you look up rachel potter wicked - thought that might help with the thought of why they cast her instead of vice versa!
Just found your channel in my feed this morning and subbed IMMEDIATELY after watching this reaction!! I absolutely LOVE Voiceplay!! I can’t get enough!! ❤
I think that's the point of it, you'd expect Glenda to be more princess y and high but they made her the deeper different sound and Vice versa with Elphaba (Alphaba?) it makes this one unique from other covers
I think they broke Danielle with this one. :) Last time I saw this kind of reaction was Geoff's bass drop at the end of Oogie Boogie. Such a joyful reaction. Joined my pantheon of reactions to rewatch.
I think I read that Rachel understudied for Glinda in the national touring company of Wicked, so she might have asked for a shot at Elphaba. Loved this reaction!!
Every one of them had a moment or two, but I think Eli absolutely killed it. I also loved when Caesar yelled, "Kill the witch," and Geoff basically told him to chill. Emoni was in the group TEN, which came in second to Home Free in the Sing Off.
I always love your reactions. I know you really like it when you start to sing along, when it's good, you just want to be there singing with them. You really must do The Greatest Showman next though, for a full production it's really one of their best, it even outshines Hoist The Colours. #subscriptionsquad
I'm surprised no one talks about the incorporation of bell tones in "For Good". Most tend to use bell tones to ascend the scale; they decided to flip it and it's subtle but so cool to lead into the resolving chord.
How has she not checked out Pentatonix? I see she's reacted to both Voiceplay and Voctave for months. She doesn't like Pentaholics? Or is she afraid of watching the best a capella group in the world who made history more than once and shattered the glass ceiling for a cappella groups and gave them a shot in the real music world? 😁😉💕🤗 (Please react to Pentatonix🥺🙏)
I LOVEE pentatonix! I grew up listening to them and loving all of the arrangements even did a couple for high school choir!! I plan on reacting soon, i just have liked bringing more attention to these groups on RU-vid because they are so talented too!! Don’t worry, soon enough! ❤️😍
