I was in second grade and there was a party for our class with all the parents also attending. It was a beautiful day, warm and sunny. There was a pool there, so all the kids had a great time. Several of us were also playing football, so we wanted to see the game, however, someone (?!?) had decided we shouldn't watch football. Though, when the game started, we had to turn on the tv. Everyone was watching in the end, and the day just became much much better. I still get chills and get filled with emotions when I watch this. This is from a time where happiness was pure and it was ok to be proud of being danish. "Det er en fuldstændig vanvittig vinkel at skyde fra det der!!"

This is still the best game i have ever seen. The pace of the game was just extreme, for the time, and the attacks just rolled straight toward the goals with so many fantastic built-ups... from both sides really. That Danish team played a lot of great matches from around 83 to 86, but this was probably the best, because the opponent were so amazingly good aswell. To me, this was the two best teams in the world at that time, and this game would have been worthy of a world cup final. God i miss how football was played back then.
As great as these sides were, incredibly, both were eliminated in the 2nd round of the World Cup in 1986. The USSR of that time should have done better in the World Cups of 86 and 90. I don't know how Spain beat Denmark 5-1? And they didn't even qualify for 1990? Denmark at least won a trophy in 1992 but it was a very different team.
@@Dead-Ball-Situation I think USSR was not treated too fair from the ref against Belgium (2 offside goals given for Belgium allegedly) and Denmark had one of these days against Spain ... all under control and leading 1-0, terrible pass and 1-1 for Spain and then just every shot on target was a goal for Spain. Funnily Spain vs Belgium was next round with Belgium winning on penalties only to then go out against Argentina with 2 goals from Maradona. Belgium had 2 extra times then already, that certainly played a role. All in all, they were all good teams but not made to be champions. Argentina had the best plan: Rock solid defence and God in attack. Including Gods hand, his feet and everything else.

Det var stort! Hele København var på den anden ende den dag med fest i gaderne allerede inden kampen. Publikum forlod ikke Parken, da kampen var slut, festen fortsatte længe efter. Og så blev der selvfølgelig festet igennem i hele byen bagefter. Selve kampen var fantastisk at overvære. Måske har landsholdet aldrig spillet bedre. Elkjær og Laudrup gik op i en højere enhed!

Those first passes makes a lot of room to play. Compare that to today modern over crowded football. To bad modern football did not took that direction. To spread the game, counter, use all aspect of the game. But hey, you would need experienced high talented player to do that. Denmark had at that time as it was said, a star player at every champions clubs of Europe. Not even big nations have that. Extremely rare. Funny little Denmark should have that luck

Not true! Tengiz Sulakvelidze was booked at 43rd minute (for pulling Laudrup around the waist I think). He tried to do the same to Elkjær just before the 2-1 goal.
I played an 11 a side match at Idrætsparken in September on the artificial surface. It has several football pitches there. Does anyone know what happened to this stadium, because I couldn't see it, or has it changed in size? Or what happened?
They were highly respected, back then we knew how good footballers they were. That is why that game will ever be a legend game for the Danes, it was like a finale in quality.
@@АндрейЛ-и5я End games are a different game than qualifications. Dont think the danes were experienced enough. They went 100% into the game against Germany, they just wanted to win that. Even it was not that important in the end game. They also made some mistake against Spain. Took a vital player out and got rushed by the spain as soon the Danes made that mistake with the first goal.
