My Brother met him and completely "fanboyed" out. Gave Danny the typical "I'm the biggest Fan!" Etc etc. Long story short Danny bought my brother a beer, offered him a special brownie and just talked to this random fan/my brother for about an hour before parting ways. Definitely not a Gene Simmons type.
@@jamesnorton7601 (More back story) My brother didn't know it at the time. But, the other person Danny was talking to when he went to introduce himself was none other than the Drummer of Mastodon. *TMZ* out.
I was in the military with a guy who was Maynards cousin. He told me that Maynard was a huge heroin guy. This was in 98 mind you. Point being, if one of the greatest drummers of all time calls as it as he sees it, he ain't lying...
Being a drummer myself and following DC for years, I'm proud to say we were born in the same hospital in Paola, Kansas. DC is a legend of a drummer. Huge inspiration.
Because of Tool I sought out the mighty King Crimson and thus the rabbit hole of Prog... from listening to gangster rap and limp bizkit Tool was my gateway to such awesome musical adventures!
867 5309 Yessir!! I first sought out a double live album and totally wasn’t into it... then I believe it was actually larks tongues in aspic that got me hooked... but that song is absolutely brilliant
I was at that show at The Garage at Caddy’s Complex in Cincinnati. November of ‘96. My first Tool show. Psychotica opened and sucked. Then Tool came on and opened with Third Eye. They absolutely blew my mind and I’ve been a total Tool fanatic ever since.
This is somewhere else on RU-vid already. But hell yeah I'll watch it again. Danny's ideas of using sacred geometry and building your kit around Phi to sync with the proportions of your body changed my drumming forever. I applied the concept to my kit build and it came out looking alot like Danny's. I'm a weekend warrior so to speak but man, I feel like a legend when I sit behind it. As they say, it's the thought that counts 😉 imagination is creation
This shit has been on youtube for ages besides this re-edit. The whole video includes Adam talking about his guitar and they did a Radio Concert (pretty rare) on a local station in the Netherlands: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kkOILv2EWHc.html
So they were mastering/mixing or whatever one of these 90s concerts, but after more than 20 years still It didn't get release. And Danny says they have tons of live material. For the love of humankind release a freaking live dvd and album.
I honestly think that they're a self aware enough band to know that their studio output isn't particularly vast but that when the day comes they decide to end the band or retire from touring that they'll have a lot of live material to release to fans. I think Salival was the faintest tip of the iceberg.
Tool takes forever with everything, they showed us a new version of Opiate with Justin on Bass, with a new music video at the Tool clinic in 2018, and that's the last time I heard about it. Lol Adam rolled out a big screen TV like in HS and everything.
There’s some stuff that just changes music forever like Hendrix, zeppelin, nirvana n tool. Incubus science is another album that is like no other, was their best and they never captured that lightning again
1:20 at first I was like who is this goofy guy swaying in front of Danny's kit? Is he a photographer or something? And then I realized it was Maynard lol!
