SMH… I tuned in to hate… but Danny did good. I mean it is weird… a podcast about a guy who pods about podcasts… but it actually went well and Adam gave him some real exclusives.

I feel like them not leaning into him is why it works. People seem to tune in much more for the hate than they would for the love. Not to mention the narratives that’d be created if they did supported him. Like he’s working for them or with them in some way. It makes him more reputable for them not to lean into him. Joe & his team are strategic about these things.

Ice is a straight cornball on the JBP. He’s cringey. Ish is really not needed. He always acts like he’s too cool to be there when in reality he should be so grateful he’s there. Flip is great but he doesn’t take having knowledge of what’s going on today serious. No depth to his convo. He would be so much bigger if he actually cared about the JBP. Same goes for Mel. It’s unfortunate to Joe but the reality is no one is compared to Rory and Mal. Wish they would get back together

Not suprised at all that Danny killed this. You can tell from his own show that he's researched, he takes notes, and he truly enjoys podcast culture. Hearing Danny's background in media training makes sense. This interview just goes to show that when you put in the work and can speak with authority and authenticity and articulate your points, you will get respect in any room you walk in. Adam appears to be genuinely impressed with how serious and prepared Danny took this interview. Good ish Danny!!!

When Mal came that was when the pod elevated for me too. I hate that people think Rory & Mal weren’t an essential part to the pod…. I was such a fiend for their episodes, I’d be checking for new episodes at 8am… I haven’t listened to an entire pod since shortly after the break up.. I kno plenty of people love the new show… I just can’t get with it…. All the fighting for the creators first and the wanting to fight against the system for podcasters to get their just due… But then when he’s in charge of everything, it’s him first and then he’ll let you kno what he decides you deserve to kno about, or decide or get paid… he became the machine… and to people that were supposed to be his friends… I just couldn’t listen to it the same way… now when I run out of things to watch I’ll go there to check clips out but sometimes I can’t even get through those… but I’m still checking here and their like a weirdo ex (cause it was my fav pod ever)

But I felt like what brought that show to the heights it got to (for me) was a collective effort… when Mal told that story about them about to to a live pod and Joe was like, look I’ve got them wrapped around the corner.. And Mal was like, what? I’ve seen ur live music shows, it wasn’t like this… meaning it wasn’t just Joe, it was the collective. I have no issue if Joe wanted a larger cut because he’s the celebrity name that first draws people in, and I have no issue with the money that keeps the pod running comes off the top either, my issue is when, people, who are supposed to be friends, collectively build this thing up to where it is, are considered a non factor, especially from someone who is supposed to be fighting for clarity in the industry, rights for peoples creative input, then becomes the one implementing the same tactics the labels he fights against do… I’ll Name This Podcast Later changes to, The Joe Budden Podcast, then a major decision needs to be made that affects EVERYONES lives, but they get ZERO input on where it goes, even if the ultimate decision comes from Joe at least give them a choice beforehand…. It all just destroyed it for me… But tons of people still like it. I’m just talking about me. That’s all.

Yea Mal said that but Joe only got bigger, added more people, new set etc after they left so it does play into Joe point that it’s him. And regardless of that fact he was the creator. They said why they changed the name and almost immediately the pod blew up and got the Spotify deal. Joe never said them brothers couldn’t create their own, but I can’t be mad at how he wants to run something that he owns and created. Them first couple of episodes of the pod was just Joe, no Rory or Mal.

Bc it feels like an album almost n the new host r features, every new host is a feat like what he jus did w emani n such.. he can bring in a whole new 6 people w him n parks n it’ll still go bc he’s there, Joe n his features..
