When I was a kid (in Boston) I had a lot of older relatives (all born around 1900 and all of them from Kerry) who sounded just like this guy. They scared the crap out of me because I thought they were pirates.

if every politician done as much for their own constituency as the healy raes did for kerry ireland would be a far better place to live

If the Michael and Danny Healy-Rae were the heads of state, they would definitely make this green isle of ours a proud nation again. At least they care about the normal Irish people. Both Michael and Danny are the only lads in the Dail that actually make sense.

It is spelled both ways, my spelling is the traditional AND medical spelling. I'm guessing your spelling is an americanized version the same way they bastardized the spellings of colour (color) etc.

Americanised, bastardised if you don't want to americanise the words :) œ was a letter called ethel that americans leave out of diarrhœa, foetus, onomatopoeia, but still use it in subpoena for some reason.

Here we have ample reason to fear the rise of local authorities power with the likes of these gombeen politicians and counsellors talking nonsense - and worse again being listened to and reported by so called serious journalists. Notice the way no attempt is made by the reporter to question Mr Rea about the road safety aspects of his proposal or to put it to him that as a publican he would have a vested interest in such a proposal being passed. The Healey Rea's represent the worst type of petrol pump politics that has dragged this country down to where it is now.
