@Jack Smith it doesn't explicitly state that danny asked vlad to remove his emotions. vlad stated that danny was in pain and just wanted the emotions to just go away, so vlad helped. since it showed danny under anesthesia vlad could have drugged him, kept him under and just decided to free danny of his emotions without danny's knowledge or consent. personally i think this is more likely considering vlad's personality, past actions, and his obsession with having danny as a son/protege. vlad was so close to getting that son/protege since danny moved in with him and depended on vlad, but was too caught up in the family he lost to fully fulfill vlad's fantasy.

@Jack Smith ah, vlad doesn't really hide the fact that throughout the series he wants to marry maddie (since he was in college) and have danny as a son/protege (since he found out danny was a halfa like him, and was even turned by jack's equipment like vlad). and when danny doesn't cooperate with vlad's wishes after numerous ettmpts, vlad even goes so far as to attempting to clone him to create a danny that will be his son/protege. in the alternate future of TUE, vlad looses maddie but gets danny to voluntarily come live with him, but danny is consumed by his grief. a so close but no cigar situation for vlad (let's not forget that alt future human vlad described his ghost half as evil, so past halfa vlad would have been evil to a point). disclaimer, this is my headcanon since TUE was vague about the exact circumstances of why the procedure happened.
