Thank you very much for the translation to English, prosperitycraft. A pretty song sung by a beautiful and talented lady. These people from Iceland through Norway are some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet!

Eivør is Faroese, not Icelandic.

Cold comes on chrismas on black shadows Children cuddle in shelter next to a candle at the window. Ref 1: Dance, dance thee wind, wintertime, and cold gives new power dance, dance thee wind, ramble around through this cold winternight. Pervade the snow in the dark of night, feed the trembling heart with stroke and tone. Ref. 2 Dance, dance thee wind, That winter makes children find shelter inthe house. Dance, dance thee wind, Winter gives holy chrismas to children. Outside the wind creates big noise, the night trembles from cold into the snow.

Er originalt en svensk sang, fikk tredje plass i Eurovision song contest i 1996. Var One More Time som sang da. Skrevet av Peter Grönvahl, sønn av Benny Andersson.

This song is just fantastic, and the voice of Eivør...... But, i am still wandering, is the lyrics in icelandic, or Færøese?

Nice upload, wonderful song. But... Why do you sometimes write a "oe" ligature instead of "ö", such as in "boernum"? This letter is not actually used in Icelandic and should just be "ö". The English translation is, well, bad... was it made by Google translate? I don't mean to be offensive, just wanted to point this out. I might follow up later with suggestions of a better translation.

Just curious, why does she sing in Icelandic if she is Faroese?
@2urh

Because the song is composed for a annual Christmas concert held in Iceland called "Frostrósir" which directly translates to "roses of the frost" (It's named after the snow that forms into a sort of rose, can come on ground or on windows) See the image here for an example: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/47/Ice_crystals_at_window07.jpg/200px-Ice_crystals_at_window07.jpg

@@2urh Well, to be picky, the song was composed for the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest, where it came third in its original Swedish (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Evn1biXeDJ8.html). That said, this Icelandic version is a very beautiful Christmas song.

@@marbe166 To be even pickier, the only part of the song is the music composition. The lyrics are completely different.

Íslenski textinn er allur eðlilegur nema í síðustu línum lagsins, "Veturinn færir boernum heilög jól.", þar sem "boernum" ætti auðvitað að vera "börnum". It seems the translation is much better than when I viewed this 10 months ago. There still is the strange "boernum" spelling in the last few words of the song, which should be "börnum". Anyway it's just a nitpick at this point :)
