I love Graham McTavish as a voice actor, but for Berserk I can't really imagine him playing anyone other than maybe a few of the nobles from The Golden Age arc, or maybe Laban from later in the series.
Ironically the creepier version of the father has one redeeming feature that the video game did not. His father died protecting Beatrice rather than trying to seduce her
I think it was because there was an intruder with murderous intentions. He may be a greedy perv but he wasn't gonna let a girl get murdered, much less himself.
In those times adultery was punished but was way more common than nowadays. He probably desires her since the day he met her. He was greedy so what could possibly stop him from gettting her as well? He never had respect for Dante. He was protecting her because she was probably his woman to his eyes (since he could never had her as long as Dante was alive).
I really love how throughout the film the animation style changes. Even though the style changes it has good flow to it from one to the next, it's not jarring at all.
There is one thing about this scene i like from the game compared to the film and vice versa In the game when Dante is confronted by his father, Alighiero, his father makes the comment “Do you think you’re a better man than your father?” To which Dante replies, “I fear I’m too much a man like my father!” I wish they had kept that here since it speaks to Dante’s shame and path to redemption that he is willing to admit such a thing But one thing the film did i thought was brilliant coopered to the game was that, in the game after you defeat Alighiero, Dante absolves him and lifts him above whereas here he throws his father into the burning pit of gold he so craved and pledged to kill his own son over, drowning him in his greed
Yea it was kinda dumb that Dante would absolve his piece of shit father who raised him to be a total asshole and caused his mother to hang herself I wish that was how it went down in the game he doesn't deserve to be absolved.
My favorite animated version of Dante, sure the first part dante look was pretty badass but the Loincloth, long hair and iron crown combo are iconic as hell
Jesus hamil does a great English accent and also plays a great abuser just those growls and those slaps are hard to watch and props to grahm mactavish for his poet line it's sad and just goes to show how much a bad parent can mold thier child
I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I figured it out after I played Devil May Cry, played Dante's Inferno, and then read the actually The Divine Comedy book
All those people that where being melted and crushed by their own gold. Was the punishment of their spoil and greedy ness of keeping the money to themselves and not giving to help people.
Unlike other types of Multi-Medias like Animated Movies and Shows based on Video Games that are mostly just Tie-Ins like Prequels, Midquels or even Spin-Offs, This Animated Movie of "Dante's Inferno" is actually a direct Adaptation straight from the Game's Story and it's one of the really good Ones as well.
you know 1000 years free of torture would be a good deal and with all that free time in hell would be good you visit all the circles of hell and plus you can tell the demons and demon lords in each circle that they can torture you/me because Lucifer gave me a 1000 years free of torture
The movie it is fully portrayed wrong in the Divine Comedy it is more like that: The greedy ones and the stingy are punished by rolling giant masses with thier shoulder circling in the circle around, raging and screaming to each other.
Kanye West would be in the 9th bolgia of the 8th circle and Donald Trump would be in the 9th circle (the latter was so bad he is already in hell and now there's a demon pretending to be him).
