She is and she had the fortune of having loved herself, even though she lost her husband, but they are landed gentry and wealthy. Old money and all that jazz. That attitude torwards the happyness of her children rather than climbing higher up the social leader is indeed rare, but something they can afford. Daphne also chose a duke over a prince, not a pauper over money and rank. She still climbed up, as a duke is higher ranking than a viscount. Happy coincident!

I agree. The mom and really ALL of the Matriarchs are AMAZING and CONVINCING in their roles.

I know the books are supposed to be amazing but I just can see how they could ever top this love story with all of the fears and lies and deceptions and intrigue all coming together so beautifully and boiling Down to the most simplistic idea... Choose to love each other every single day and nothing else will matter. So beautifully written and acted by Phoebe and regé-jean .. kudos to them for putting Bridgerton on the map!

I know this comment is 8months old and you probably already know by now that they’re gonna starve us, we do not get to see their story continue…season 2 is gonna focus on Anthony and his story/love life and all that (i heard that each season is gonna be similar to the books or whatever where each season will focus on each Bridgerton sibling & their stories/love lives/lessons/etc🤷🏽‍♀️) plus Regé-Jean Page who plays Simon stated that he won’t be returning for season 2 & possibly any future seasons that may or may not come🥺

@@karenrenford Just look up the series "Poldark", its on Amazon Prime and other places. Worth checking out if you get into this type of British series. Though Ross Poldalk was not an aristocrat, a little lower in the class structure, his family was fairly well to do, and he was interacting with the aristocracy. Poldark is the first one of all the Masterpiece Theater type series/shows I've seen where the male was the focus (with the exception of the "Horatio Hornblower" series, which was more men at sea in the Navy, no romance), but maybe that's why I connected with Poldark. Look at it in terms of Ross Poldark was the central "Ms. Benet" character and the leading lady was the "Ms. Darcy", kinda role reversal......

Ooooh Girlfriend, I AGREE 100%! Daphne with her beautiful skin and innocent eyes. And that gorgeous Duke is too delicious to look at....him with his handsome face and how he handles a spoon......and let us not forget how he SWINGS that right arm of his while he walks....smh. They are a CONVINCINGLY BEAUTIFUL COUPLE OF ACTORS. Bravo!

i cant get enought of season 1 I watched so many time and didn't get bored, instead I watched season 2 once and I hated, was a little vulgar totally out of the historic period, and wasn't interesting, the first one instead reminds me when I was 15 and used to read Barbara Cartland novels, sweet, innocent and intense. the sex scenes on this season were elegant, sweet and not vulgar at all, but at the same time so intense.

I have watched this series over and over So pure and raw passionate love story but the friendship was powerful scene. Such talented actors and actress. This series was a blessing ❤️🙏❤️❤️

Yesss! Chemistry was similar w/his love interests in Roots & Sylvie’s Love as well! People think u can just replace him w/another (mix) or remove him & cast light on the other male actors, but Regé is one of a kind/a rare gem & so is his superb acting talent and chemistry...

@@maranatha1146 I purchased every episode of Poldark. I think its about time to "go round" again. I finally got to see Bridgerton, people will love it or hate it, I loved it. Great costumes, loved the integrated cast, the Duke was too smooth. Claudia Jessie who played Eloise Bridgerton had me cracking up the whole mini-series. And my comparison to Poldark was accurate. Totally different characters, but both has a subtle, and sometimes blatant dislike for English High Society, almost like they were rebelling against high society. And both Poldark and the Duke were "down" with the working man and woman, they both had friends that were not upper class.

@@dxwallace55 yes, I agree. And both Poldark and the Duke are passionate, determined, and stubborn men. I absolutely loved Bridgerton but I think Poldark is more real for the story and complexity of the characters.

@@maranatha1146 You said it, I didn't think of the word "stubborn", but spot on!!! Poldark was a more serious and real, Bridgerton was like a modern day twist on a Victorian Era mini-series appealing to a younger, modern day crowd, trying to get creative with the whole Victorian England theme. Both excellent for what they were. As I understand it, every song played in Bridgerton was a modern day song that they remade for the Balls in the series. Elouise Bridgerton was my favorite character (Beside The Duke), but Elouise's personality was straight out of a modern day sitcom. The romance seemed more real and special and steamy in Bridgerton however. I was into Masterpiece Theater type shows from since a child (don't ask me why LOL!!!), and just love when they put something great out, 2 different vibes with these 2 series , yes, but both great in their own right. -Peace

Simon is not in book 3 but he comes back in book 4 I hope they do not having him cheating on daphne or having their son die I have a way for Simon to come back to the story they can have Simon lost at sea and lost on a uncharted island and it takes two years for Simon to find his way back to London when she tell rege she is going to marry the prince he ask will you be happy he should have said you will not be happy because he is not me marry me daphne
